When do we register for the pasta party? Is that included in the event registration?

The cost of the pasta party is separate from the race cost. I don't recall if it was among the many options to spend more money on the registration page (race retreat, commemorative items, etc)

I knew the cost was extra, I was hoping I didn't miss reserving a spot during registering and I can do it separately.

I am so full of questions for the experts here and I am SO psyched up for this
I had an accident in Jan almost 100 % healed and my physical therapist and I are going to run the Princess 1/2 as a team :yay: ! I ran all my life but never officially in any race I am slowly coming back to walking without pain or having to stop and rest I am reading "Running The Crim" very inspirational !

Can't register yet and a few days ago nice people here answered about how to register/pay so thanks again

Now looking around at the rundisney website I am learning about breakfast, pasta parties, meet & greets, reunion areas, etc etc all adding up $$$$$ :faint: it would be great to do it all BUT have to be realistic here Does this all have to be decided and paid for at time of initial registration? OR something you can decide and pay for later on down the road a few months from now maybe ?

I am double blessed when I was hurt I met a terrific family who has been helping with my horse and guess what I had to share..he owns a running shoe & accessory store AND Jeff Galloway is speaking there Sunday and I will get to go...all things are lining up for success so nicely :goodvibes

Ruthie

Ruthie,

First...wishing you all the healing power and prayers for a speedy recovery !

I am also far, far from being an expert but this year's PHM was my first and DH and i did the race retreat and thought it was WELL worth the price to have a nice place before the race to rest, eat and use porta potties without big lines ! After the race it was nice to have a good brunch and ice packs for the muscles. I also bought the pin, purse and necklace since this could be my last PHM. I think it all comes down to a personal decision on what you can afford and if you are the person who collects any the trinkets offered.

I have no regrets on what I purchased and didn't purchase (pasta party)especially since PHM was the only one for me due to extreme asthma issues. Hope this helps.

 what REALLY helps is the inspiration and perseverance I get from people like you (all the other info is great too) ..I have things to think about
thank YOU

Thanks Pirate! I really appreciate your answering my question. I'm so torn as to what to do...we will be signing up on Tues hopefully for the PHM/GSC & want desperately to get our C2C in 2014 -but we are concerned we may not get in since last year I recall it sold out in a ridiculously small amount of time.....any words of wisdom?

I ran my first 10k race today and I didn't feel very prepared (I did not train very consistently for the past 4 weeks!) but I somehow finished first in my age group!!! The weather was awesome and the route was beautiful, and my chip time was 1:17:36! :cool1: I'm more than happy with that for a first 10k!!! Hopefully runDisney will be too, hahha!
I'm still planning to run a few more races over the summer though to improve that time.

Also, congrats to all the princesses who have registered already!!! :woohoo: It's starting to feel more real now that registration has opened up!! Maybe we'll even get a sneak peek at medal designs soon ....:rolleyes1

Yes I am in !....I never got to do it this year due to my fathers illness

Congratulations, that should certainly move you up a few corrals! :cheer2: I am really excited to get to see the medals too! runDisney knows how to keep the buzz going, that is for sure.

Sorry to hear you had to miss it last year because your father was ill. Welcome to the party this year!

Ugh I had my second worst run ever today. I got swarmed by yellow flies (deer flies) half way down a wooded trail and got bit at least twice. They were landing on my face and in my hair. It was just awful and there was NOTHING I could do but keep running to try to get to the end of the trail. My Garmin pace looks insane for that stretch because I was sprinting and waving my arms around like crazy so it shows that I was going faster than a 4 minute mile (LOL) and slower than a 25 minute mile.

Ugh, I hate training in Florida in the summer. If I were rich, I'd spend the summers in the mountains of North Carolina because I can't stand it here from June 1 to October 1. Sorry to whine, it was just very unpleasant and kind of scary.

That doenst sound fun! Great visual though! Crappy runs happen, it will be better next time. :thumbsup2

That sounds miserable! Those bites HURT, too. I don't know that I'd ever want to hear what your worst run was .

Hope it gets better!

Girl, whine all you want I totally understand. Training in the south is brutal in the summer...I'm sure as brutal as winter training is in the north! I HATE bugs and I feel like they know it and so they flock to me always! :(. And trying not to think about the things that start to slither out this time of year too. Yuck!!!

So I registered for the PHM but now I'm considering the glass slipper challenge and just walking the 10K. Do you guys know if there's any way to change my registration?

I hate Deer flies, they are really bad here. The only thing I have found that keeps them away is deep woods off. Everyone always forgets it, so I keep a few bottles in my car in the summer for our group runs.

It sold out in record time due to the DDD challenge. RunD learned from their mistakes, and it shouldn't do that this year. Have you considered doing the tinkerbell so you can get the special edition C2C?

I don't think you can. My only suggestion would be to call RunD and ask if you can defer to 2015, then on Tuesday when more slots open register for the GSC. But be prepared for a no!

This is probably a good thing. It will save me from myself. I have a tendency to overextend when I get really excited about a race. Considering my original goal was to just finish, I think I should sit the GSC out this year. It'll just give me a reason to come back in 2015!

This sounds like a HORRIBLE experience, ugh! But on the bright side --- GOOD FOR YOU for sticking out your training in such crappy conditions!:woohoo: If this happened to me, I would be really tempted to just call my boyfriend to come pick me up and drive me home!

Congrats! Its amazing how times can vary-my time for my last 10K was 1:16 and I came in 2nd to last. Lol!

Have anyone of you that have done a half before switched methods for training. I run all my miles. Was thinking of switching it up. I have used the same one, half marathon rookie, for the past 10 times. Do you think I would have a hard time adjusting to the Galloway plan? Not really going for speed. Been there done that. It was fun till my foot started cramping up about 1 mile away from the finish line but I did reach my goal, under 2 hours. :thumbsup2 Now I am back to my average 2:10-2:15. That also includes potty breaks along the way.
