Has anyone had any luck booking the RunDisney discounted rooms for Feb yet? I assume we can't book yet with the discount until the rates for 2014 come available in the next few months? I assume we can still book now but it will be at rack rate?

Congrats to all the princesses who registered for the half this week...look forward to seeing you all there!!pixiedust:

No discounts yet, but you can book and then apply the discount later. Just have to pay one night's cost to reserve

I used MEI/Mouse Fan Travel.

I use MEI / Mouse Fan Travel, too. I've had good results with my agent -- PM me if you want a name. Also, they support my two favorite podcasts (including Mickey Miles) so I want to support them too!

Speaking of makeup tips, has anyone tried running with that makeup setting spray floating around Pinterest that the Disney face characters supposedly use? I know after the Donald Half I saw this immaculately made up girl dressed as Cinderella in the bus lines and her makeup was flawless!
I'd like to know, too. Wouldn't hurt to look my best in the photos. :)

I'm sure there's more than one good quality brand of makeup setting spray, but I can definitely speak highly for Urban Decay's "All-Nighter Long Lasting Makeup Setting Spray" which I got from Sephora ((I'm in Canada, but I'm sure they sell this in the U.S. too)).
I've also used UD's "De-Slick Oil Control Makeup Setting Spray" and it was decent too, but I personally had more consistent results with the first product.
These are both kinda mid-range in terms of price ($14-$29 depending on bottle size), but definitely worth the investment!
I should also mention that I haven't run in these products, but I DID use the All-Nighter spray every day of my 10day Disney trip last year and it stood up to the Florida humidity awesomely! :) I'd put it on in the morning over my foundation/powder and my makeup would stay great til bedtime! The spray is very sweat-proof for sure, so I'd bet it'd work well for running.
HTH! :goodvibes

Good to know! Thanks for sharing your experience! I know I look a hot mess before I even start (just went thru old pics and found my prerace pics from a Labor Day weekend race last year--my first 5k. We hadn't even made it to the start line and it was NOT pretty! lol) I was thinking maybe if I tried putting my face on it would help. ;)

We went with DD's favorite princess: Cinderella. Hope our numbers are legible as I expect that's going to be light blue.

I picked Cinderella too! Only because I have a Cindy shirt from Raw Threads that I got at the Tinkerbell Expo that is part of my outfit. One of my favorite running shirts by the way! Love, love, love the bamboo material. It is super hot where I live, and this shirt keeps me cool!!!

I always pack a sharpie pen..and I would think you could use one to enhance your race number.
But, Summer may be correct about Marathonfoto...they take such bad photos.

Good idea about bringing a pen to outline #'s. Hopefully I can remember that when I go to pack. Yes Marathonfoto sucks! Bring your own camera!!!

(2) mildly enhancing face stuff. when pictures are involved, I use tinted moisturizer, tinted lip balm and hardcore waterproof mascara. This is the part a lot of people don't agree with, but honestly? If I'm going to stick a tiara on my head, why wouldn't I put a little sparkle underneath it?

(3) Finally, strong posing seems to help for the pictures -- there's a reason everyone puts a hand to their waist, pops a hip, crooks a knee, etc. It adds a active dynamic to the picture that reflects what you're doing -- and looks better than "I'm just standing here b/c I don't think I can do anything else now shoot the picture!". You can also mimic the characters' poses a lot of the time for a cute pic. And, if you know you're buying the photos (or pre-bought them), look for the photographers along the route, look right at them and SMILE!

FWIW, E.

TInted moisturizer, cherry chapstick, and waterproof mascara are a must.

I read some where when you see a photographer to pick up the pace to nearly a sprint until you pass them. Which is usually only about 10 yards, so totally doable ;) Makes for much better action photos.

Can someone clarify how the bib choices work? Do I get to choose a color, or a princess? Can anyone whose already registered confirm the choices? Thanks!

Here is a link to last years bibs to give you an idea. Scroll down a little to see the bibs. They ask you to choose your favorite Princess in one of the registration questions. Doesn't say which color they will be.

You get to choose from
Ariel
Aurora (Sleeping Beauty)
Belle
Cinderella
Jasmine
Merida (Brave)
Rapunzel
Snow White
Tiana

Happy running :)

Did anyone get an email that there was early registration for disney Visa card members? I am not an AP or Dvc member, so I haven't registered yet. I am looking at the kids races and maybe 5k. I hope to run the PHM in 2015.

I am not sure if this is the right place to post this question, but im hopeing that someone may have the answer for me...earlier this year my daughter and I did the PHM and then thought we would want to go for our C2C, but found that the DLand 1/2 marathon was already soldout...we really do NOT want that too happen again in 2014 -I know registration for PHM 2014 will be Tuesday - when is Registration for the DL 1/2 Marathon (in Aug/Sept?) open up? Thanks, Jean

I called RunDisney and they gave me a link to register with my Visa card--it was a very specific link, so I suggest calling to get one if, like me, you can't find one. When I filled out the entry I was able to use the first four of my Visa card number in the coupon/discount entry blank to get the $15 discount.

ETA: Oops, sorry I may have answered the wrong question :D. Took me so long to find out how to register that I got a one track mind...

I believe it opens in late January. They had early registration for anyone at Marathon weekend, then AP, DVC and VISA.

Too funny, let us know how his smoulder is coming along.

That is funny, my 20yr old ds looks a lot like Flynn Rider and he has a look he does that is just like the "smoulder". When we first saw the previews for Tangled we cracked up laughing because it looked just like my son and his "sexy/cool" face.

Wait, does the bib show your princess's name or your name? (and I can't believe I'm asking a question like that about a 1/2 marathon!)

I am so full of questions for the experts here and I am SO psyched up for this
I had an accident in Jan almost 100 % healed and my physical therapist and I are going to run the Princess 1/2 as a team :yay: ! I ran all my life but never officially in any race I am slowly coming back to walking without pain or having to stop and rest I am reading "Running The Crim" very inspirational !

Can't register yet and a few days ago nice people here answered about how to register/pay so thanks again

Now looking around at the rundisney website I am learning about breakfast, pasta parties, meet & greets, reunion areas, etc etc all adding up $$$$$ :faint: it would be great to do it all BUT have to be realistic here Does this all have to be decided and paid for at time of initial registration? OR something you can decide and pay for later on down the road a few months from now maybe ?

I am double blessed when I was hurt I met a terrific family who has been helping with my horse and guess what I had to share..he owns a running shoe & accessory store AND Jeff Galloway is speaking there Sunday and I will get to go...all things are lining up for success so nicely :goodvibes

Registration for the Disneyland half was the end of January beginning of February. It was about a week after the Tinkerbell half. (Tink was on Jan 20th this year) If you live in Southern Cali they had early registration set up at the Tinkerbell expo. Hope that helps :)

First, I am not am expert.
Second, you CAN register now. Google Active Princess Half 2014.

I have never, and I have run all 5 Princesses half's, done any of the extras and never felt I missed anything. I haven't paid for a pin, necklace, purse. I have purchased a couple extra shirts over the years, but really the finisher shirt is nice and this past year was the best of all. I think you can add extra events later, but they do sell out and it is hard to tell when. If these events don't sell out fast, say in a week or so, rD will put on the Princess event page that they are a certain percent full. So if that happens, and it get up to the 90% range and you want to do it sign up.

I hope you continue to heal from your accident. And go listen to Jeff G. as I am sure you will hear something helpful.

Wait, does the bib show your princess's name or your name? (and I can't believe I'm asking a question like that about a 1/2 marathon!)

Both. 2013 bibs had the princess' name that you picked at the top, and across the bottom had "Princess Your Name" or just your name if you registered as a male runner.

Thanks for reply Joan I appreciate your wishes for healing and I am definitely going to go & listen to Jeff I'll wait for the reminder email to register..even if only a few more days, still more time re-money

I would surely want the finisher shirt if nothing else, as many others go through their own challenges, this will be a milestone for me and a wonderful way to start a new year (well ok a month late ;) )
