I chose sleeping beauty in the past because I knew it would be a pink bib and would match my outfit. This time I chose Snow White, any idea what color bib in the past it has been? thx!

I think Snow White is like a royal blue color ( and may read a little purple like another poster said)...I picked her this time as well. I wonder why hers isn't mostly WHITE? Seems like an obvious choice :). Oh we'll, I haven't really figured out if I want to theme my outfit to a specific princess this time or just go generic princess....but I have TWO races this time so I guess I could do both!!!!

I just googled PHM bib colors and looked in the images. Looks like purple for Snow White??? Not positive though??

It was a light purple last year. Rapunzel was a really deep purple. I always think red when I think of Snow White. Who's red?

I picked Ariel b/c well I'm a swimmer and it's my daughter's favorite! She went nuts at Ariel's Grotto on her birthday this year.

I picked Ariel too. Aside from being my favorite, I also felt like it was symbolic bc of her wanting human "legs" like i did so badly during my years of leg rehab! :)

But now I'm worried because I didnt google it first and it's one of the ones with light color numbers. Does that mean it won't register as well in pics? Hopefully they will maybe outline the numbers in a darker color this year....

We went with DD's favorite princess: Cinderella. Hope our numbers are legible as I expect that's going to be light blue.

What I would REALLY like to know is how to run 13.1 miles and still look cute in all those character pics!??? I look like a hot sweaty mess when I run even 3 miles, let alone 13! When I did the Wine & dine, I only stopped for one character because I was so nervous about getting swept and it was my first race. I finished in 2:45 so clearly I would have had some time to stop for a few. One of the reasons I want to do the Princess is because of all the great characters that are out on the course. But I'm certain my face will be red-er than Minnie Mouse's skirt and my hair will not look anything like a princesses. What's the secret? :)

I know some people will vigorously disagree with some of this approach (which I respect), but when I started running, I looked so gawdawful, people would stop me to ask if I was okay! So you can imagine what my early running pictures looked like! A few things helped:

(1) more training -- the more you train the more your body understands what the hell is going on and why it's running so many miles today. After a year and a half, I sweat better, which means I don't look so red. And there's no smell in pictures, so sweat is fine!

(2) mildly enhancing face stuff. when pictures are involved, I use tinted moisturizer, tinted lip balm and hardcore waterproof mascara. This is the part a lot of people don't agree with, but honestly? If I'm going to stick a tiara on my head, why wouldn't I put a little sparkle underneath it?

(3) Finally, strong posing seems to help for the pictures -- there's a reason everyone puts a hand to their waist, pops a hip, crooks a knee, etc. It adds a active dynamic to the picture that reflects what you're doing -- and looks better than "I'm just standing here b/c I don't think I can do anything else now shoot the picture!". You can also mimic the characters' poses a lot of the time for a cute pic. And, if you know you're buying the photos (or pre-bought them), look for the photographers along the route, look right at them and SMILE!

The bibs aren't exactly the same design each year so I'm hoping they address that "situation" while designing them for 2014. And I say "situation" because I'm not 100% convinced the problem was because of the colors...part of me just thinks that was an excuse. I think Marathonfoto is just crummy all around...when they started using them, there were tons of complaints for several races about the amount and quality of the photos. I know they say it's still technically Brightroom like it used to be, because the companies merged or whatever, but there was a drastic change when that happened, even in they way they handled posting and sorting the photos. All we can do is hope they address those problems during this next year I guess. I'll be lurking on the DL Half pages after the race in September to see what everyone thinks and get an idea of what to expect! But my advice right now? If there is an absolute must-have photo op for you (i.e. - in front of the castle!) I would have my own camera with me as back up. Maybe stop for the professional one and then take your own too. It'll save you some $$ too because those race pics are NOT cheap!)

I too picked Ariel, only based on that's my costume for this race. I will be "swimming" since I'm designing a runner friendly mermaid outfit.

Out of curiosity, what hardcore mascara do you use? I've never found one that lived up to the promise. I agree, I am not going to do full makeup by any means, but I think mascara and gloss will go a long way to help my pics. I may only do this once, might as well look my best;) I see it as part of the costume:)

I've had good luck with Bobbi Brown's No Smudge, but it doesn't seem to work for everyone. What do you use?

I always pack a sharpie pen..and I would think you could use one to enhance your race number.
But, Summer may be correct about Marathonfoto...they take such bad photos.

for those that have doen the Princess weekend before...are there usually any room discounts available that weekend? AAA, or other room only offers? I know it's the end of February Vacation week, so I'm thinking discounts will be few and far between but just thought I'd check. I booked AoA for 2 nights at rack rate :scared:

About the 80% thing... I imagine that refers to the slots set aside for EARLY registration. A small (relatively) number of spots are set aside for the early registration period, but the rest of each race's spots will be made available when open registration starts on the 11th. No worries!

About corral placement... pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease don't stress over corrals! Yes, if you have the opportunity, run a 10K or longer and submit the time. But then try not to sweat the details on this; if you train appropriately, you CAN finish ahead of the sweepers, I promise. Just go in thinking about how you want to experience the race - if you want to stop for tons of photo opps, you'll need a faster moving pace to make up for the non-moving time in lines. Fewer photo stops = more wiggle room. No plans to stop? You can go slow and still be fine. I was so worried about corral placement this year and, really, it was for naught. runDisney put me in C, but I could just have easily run my race (lots of walking due to injury and just a couple stops) from any of the corrals, including the very last one.

About drama... yeah, this race seems to attract it. But I love that it seems to be a rarity here on the DIS and seems to burn out quickly when it does pop up. That's a HUGE reason why I'm giving PHM weekend another try; chatting with you guys has been so inspiring and exciting and pleasant! I talked about the drama thing in my latest blog post and wanted to say here that you all are a big, big part of why I chose to ignore the drama elsewhere and get back in the Princess ring. So... thanks :grouphug::)

Aww man! I picked Aurora cause she's always been my fave. It was a toss up between her and Merida. Had I only known it determined the race bib!!! Does anyone if it's too late to change it?

I giggled at your "If I'm going to stick a tiara on my head." Excellent point. If we're going to glam up our running outfit, a little sparkle doesn't hurt. :)

You can always try emailing them and ask. I would suggest the email that you send to for an updated proof of time, I have always gotten a response from them within 5 days.

I have picked Aurora every year. She is my favorite princesses. I do love to sleep and can fall asleep in less than a minutes. My family thinks it is so funny. I can sleep for 2-3 hours in the afternoon and then go to bed at 9 and fall right off.
It has always been a pink bib, but it does match alot of colors.
I don't know if you can change.

they don't mention it anywhere, so there's no guarantee, but I did email them last year about switching my Princess and they did it for me and emailed me back to confirm. So, I'd say give it a shot.

I know this doesn't help most, but I'm holding out hope for a military discount. I still need to figure out where to stay and how much vacation afterwards we want to take.

For Marathon Weekend this year, I actually used a travel agency because they had some really good rates they had been able to negotiate.
