I'm afraid with <22 days to go, I've hit the wall in my half marathon training. This happens every time. I get tired of doing the distance 3x a week and unfortunately since there aren't many safe places to run where I live, I am tired of the place where I run. I also blame my visit here ::yes:: and post-Disney depression:

Sad (or not) to say I didn't even do the 7 mile run I asked about on here - when that morning came the insides of my eyelids looked much better!!

But, I really want a good qualifying time for PHM registration so that keeps me motivated!

Do any of you ever hit this wall? So close to a race?

Yes. Not necessarily close to a race but I get tired of the same old. Had a 9-miler planned for this morning and couldn't get out the door. So tired of running my loop. So I made a deal with myself to head to a different area in town tomorrow. Going to start at a Starbucks (open early, nice bathrooms, and friendly to runners/cyclists) to get my 9-miler in and then treat myself to a drink at the end.

Has anyone heard will there be a Disney Visa early registration? I have an Annual Pass- but won't be activating it until Dec.?

It's listed as a benefit on the cardmember site.

Yes I do! Last fall I was "so ready" for the wine and dine to just get here already! Sometimes new music helps. Sometimes I just grit my teeth and do it. The discipline of going out for a run when I didn't feel like it was one of my best lessons of training. Sometimes the best satisfaction is just from that alone. Plan a reward for after maybe, like curling up and watch a movie or taking a nap.

(sleep on vacation was too tempting to me too. I only got out once all week).

So, today was my first 5K race! My official time was 48:42 although my RunKeeper said 48:01, but only logged 3.06 miles. So, the official time is probably close to right. (The starting line was a bit strange as I was further back in the group and only started my RunKeeper when I crossed the start line where the timer was.) I know most of you probably run 10Ks in this amount of time, but I'm very happy with it. :cool1: My goal was to be under 50 mins. And I wasn't the last one to finish so that's awesome. First one down!

Awesome and Congratulations!!! I'm not a fast runner either, I just get satisfaction from knowing I didn't have to stop and walk ;). You sound like you're well on your way to more races!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! Way to finish under your goal, too!!!

My goals for races are threefold: 1. show up 2. not be last, or at least finish before the guy who picks up the portapotties 3. finish with enough in me so that I want to do more races. Especially the ones that have the cute T-shirts and/or pretty medals. :goodvibes

Go you!!!! Keep up the great work!!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Awesome job!!! Unless you're an elite runner, this sport is all about meeting your personal goals not beating anyone else. And you did!! Congrats on doing great in your first 5k!!

Woohoo! Are you addicted now?!?!? So proud of you. It's all about being a supportive, loving, community not so much about times!

If you can register through the passholder hotline, could you also register through DVC member services?

I don't have an answer. I think the only reason I'm able to call in to register is b/c the website Passholder Landing doesn't accept the new RFID pass I was "forced" to update. But... I was told to call runDisney not the passholder hotline.

Starting and ending at Starbucks would definitely be a motivator!

Yea, I change up my music a lot. It takes a lot of discipline, and you're right, that is where a great portion of the satisfaction comes from. I just keep going onwards! I think after this half I'll take a running break though.

Congratulations!! No matter what time you finish in, you're still finishing, and that's better than not starting! Good job :thumbsup2

I'm sorry if this has already been discussed, but does anyone know when visa early registration is?

Just ran my first this morning! Did it in 1 hour 8 minutes! Pretty pleased considering its my first and I'm still rehabbing from an injury. I hope it's good enough for a decent corral at PHM.

That's a great time! Definitely will move you up in the earlier corrals. Great job!! :thumbsup2

Congrats! That's the time I'm shooting for in 3 weeks at my first 10K! :thumbsup2

I love your goals for a race and I completely agree. My fav might be #2 though. :)

Am I crazy for wanting to attempt this 5 months after having a baby? It might be crazy enough going to Disney with a 4yo, almost 2yo and 5mo....

I just really want to have a goal and do something just for me after this surprise baby arrives. Running through Cinderella's castle sounds amazing.

As long as you set realistic goals, go for it. It took me a lot longer to get back into the running groove but I didn't have a race to look forward to.

I guess I should also ask are you currently a runner and planning to run through your pregnancy? I wouldn't try to build up to a 1/2 marathon distance in less than 12 weeks. I also wouldn't have been able to run my first half so quickly following my DDs birth. I just didn't have the time on the weekends to get my long runs in.

It was an awesome 1/2. The city, people, bands (lots of bands), the route are all amazing. A couple of years ago a couple of my friends and I did a rock n roll 1/2 in Chicago and Fargo surpasses it. The cost is 1/2 the price and way more bands. You run thru great neighborhoods and North Dakota state University. We started at the Fargodome and ended there. You could watch yourself finish on the Megatron. That was great.

My time 2:15:43 :cool1: Now trying to decided if I want to do the Princess 10k or the 1/2.

Why choose go for the GSC!!!

Why choose go for the GSC!!!

I would like to but it comes down to money unless you are the lucky one that just won the mega bucks or the power ball lotteries and want to pay if forward. ;)

This is the one thing that frustrates me about Disney races. They are so expensive.
