Did I really just write that? Please don't kick me out of the group!![]()
Is there only a couple spots on GSC?
Also how quickly do these sell out anyway?

Do you guys have a private FB group? I'd love to join if you do. The one I did find was open and I don't want everyone seeing what I post.
My heel hurts right in the middle. It is very painful at times. I do need to do a lot of walking in the next couple of months. I sure hope the heel seats work.

I am so glad that there is at least one other person besides me that picks out certain people to beat. lol I am always scoping out the crowd to pick someone to pass. And if they pass me after I have passed them, watch out. Game on. lol Oh the fun games I play while running a race.
I just walked 3/4 of a mile... Baby steps
Does anyone have a favorite iPhone app to track your runs?
I plan on doing a 5k on August 18, a 10k on October 12 and maybe fit something else in somewhere and then of course the PHM.
I saw that the Galloway training plan for the 5k is 15 weeks long. I only have 11 weeks until the 5k. Will that be okay?
Amunet said:That is really disappointing to hear about, with the early sign ups. I'm not doing the half or glass slipper, but I totally understand the uproar.
Actually, I'm wondering, what time does registration open (once a date is released)? Like 7am or something?
I really want to do the 10k and I know it's never been done at the PHM so I want to make sure I get a spot![]()
I read about this earlier too on FB, and saw a few mention that it was actually supposed to be a link to register for those that deferred from the 2013 race...was that not true? I was getting really irritated and stressed about it so I just put the iPad away and stopped reading so I never found out if that was actually what it was. I'm very curious to find out what runD has to say in response to your email though, if they acknowledge it at all. I'm with you, not sure why the registration process isn't more 'in house'...I'm not a big fan of Active either...their website always annoys me, I can never easily find anything I'm looking for there usually. I really hope they've shut it down.
I followed this little drama with fascination and no little annoyance -- but at least one person posted that they got an email from Active saying "Nice try. But: No."
Which made me feel better so I thought I'd share the sense of justice.![]()

That actually makes me feel better. LOL! I am more stressed about signing up for the race than actually running the race!!!
Just wanted to let all the new runners know that I was you at the princess in 2012. That was my first one. In two weeks I will be running my ninth half. Here are the things I have learned: There are people much faster then me and much slower then me. Don't count old folks out, I'm 39 and have been smoked by a ton of 70 year olds. I get the same medal as the chic only wearing panties and a jog bra. People do some serious pornographic warm up stretches before a half marathon, I try not to watch but it's like driving by a damn car wreck, I can't help but stare. I set my goals small for every race, my last race I just tried to beat all the women with bigger butts then me. It made me feel better about my big butt. I've learned how to hold my breath for 55 seconds at mile 10 when I open the port a potty door. I've learned it truly truly does not matter how fast you run. You are doing something that most people don't even think about doing. Be proud of what you are trying to accomplish, and what you WILL accomplish.
The number one thing I've learned: how do you finish a half marathon? One foot in front of the other. Nothing more, nothing less.
Dig deep.

People registered early today for the PHM and GSC...
They did. It was a big drama scene on a few FB boards. There was a link, but you could get to a page on active.com by just googling princess half active 2014. I've got too much girl scout in me to register on a site that clearly wasn't supposed to be open but a lot of people did.
I sent RunDisney an e-mail asking for an update on what happened today and if it is going to impact the number of openings for the Glass Slipper Challenge and the half for AP early registration on June 6. I'll let you guys know if I hear anything.
I really dislike Active.com, I think their service is a rip-off. My work has multiple complex online payment systems that we developed in house with a relatively (compared to Disney) small IT staff. I don't understand why RunDisney can't develop its own online registration and payment system to bypass Active.com's technical glitches (like this one) and overpriced fees.
OK, rant over. I try to stay positive, but the possibility that I might lose out on getting early registration to GSC because I chose to play by the rules does make me a little annoyed. I'm trusting RunDisney to do the right thing and I truly think they will!
I just emailed them, also.

All I know is that I was able to just google "Princess Half Active 2014" and it took me straight to what looked like an open registration page. It had regular registration for all the races, Expo registration and AP registration options. I picked Glass Slipper Challenge, put in some fake info (my name was Test Tester lol) and went to the next page and it gave me the option of adding on the Tink Half. I shut it down without going any further, I had no intention of using it, but wanted to see if it referenced the deferral and it didn't. I think an Active.com programmer was updating it and screwed up and opened it up accidentally.
Now, if I google the same phrase, the page it takes me to does not have active registration, so I think they figured out it was a glitch and shut it down. I think some of the people who registered today did it because they got shut out of things like DDD because of link sharing, but still, I don't think it's right to use a link that is clearly a mistake. Just my opinion, and I may end up not getting to do GSC because of it, but that's ok, it's really not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things, right?

This makes me feel better, too! I was appalled when I read on one of the PHM Facebook pages that people were already signing up for the GSC. I'm too much of a good girl to try the same, especially with the fear of being caught and banned from the race altogether, but if they left an opening for rulebreakers to jump ahead of everyone else and then shut out the people who were willing to play by the rules, I'd be irked beyond reason. Setting aside a certain number of slots for certain people like AP and Disney Visa holders is perfectly fair and makes sense, but if they let all the race slots go before the official registration opening for the race, that would be pretty awful. Give everyone a chance!
DDD (the DL version of GSC) sold out really crazy quickly. In a few hours, I think?
Need some opinions....
So a short time ago I posted that I was out for 2014 since dh wanted to have his first half be the donald rather than the princess. Sticking around though cause I wanted to live vicariously. However... you all know how that goes.
With talk of registration opening very soon... it makes me
Then in talking to dh regarding all the interesting discussions yesterday, he said "wait, you aren't going to register for the phm?"
Just the other day, my manager at work was talking about how she wants to do the phm. She works for an airline so airfare isn't an issue for her. I could tell the issue was more the accommodations. Well, we are getting ready to close on a DVC contract, so accommodations are not so much my issue so much as air fare. (anyone see where I am going with this?)
So how hard do you think it would be for me to do the donald and then the following month the phm? AND how weird would it be to ask my boss (who I am not particularly close with...but we get along well enough) to get us there and then I will have a place for us to stay. Cost would be pretty low for the two of us then... making a second trip just a month after the first one... more doable. (just food and race registration for me and then that plus what ever park tickets she wanted for her...IF she wanted park tickets)
Dh is ok with me making the second trip... he just isn't any help when it comes to how well I will handle two halfs...a month a part.
Am I just too crazy?
LOVED this post!!!
OMG! It had me incensed all day!
I too am a rule follower and could not understand how others could so easily break the rules. Although... according to one person on fb who did register, she mentioned she didn't think there were really rules regarding such things.
glad to know I wasnt the only one! I felt like a tattle tale.
I HATE active.com. Sometimes their searches turn up nothing...other times old events. It seems very haphazard at best. I just can't understand why RD uses them.rolleyes: I guess cause everyone does...)
This type of thing annoys me too. BUT I have to have faith that things work out in the end. Who knows...not to be dark and twisted, but maybe that person who didn't play by the rules...who takes a spot from someone who waited and did... maybe something happens to them that would have happened to the person they took the spot from.... and thus saves the rule follower from a horrible fate. (kinda like when someone cuts you off in traffic and then you have to wait at a light... then you come up on a bad accident that the rude driver is involved in...that you would have been involved in had they not cut you off) I guess what I am saying is karma... what comes around goes around... etc. I am a FIRM believer in it. It has happened more times than not to me. One time a friend and I were out... and a store was giving away prizes tickets. We arrived and she wanted to beat everyone in line. She hustled away from me... pushed her way in infront of others. I waited patiently...took my place behind the others arriving. Guess who one the grand prize? My friend was SO mad that my leisurely attitude got me the prize.
I am so glad to see another person do this. I think the disboards can get a lot of criticism for "not nice behavior" but when it comes down to it, I think people here do the right thing more than not.
I posted once on the thread... and then kinda had to walk away. Some of the comments just got me too riled. Especially from one poster in particular. Talk of "everyone doing it" "not notice saying not to do it" and "not sure there is actually rules" Just made me crazy. I wanted to say that there isn't a sign up at the bank that says don't go into the vault and take money that isn't yours. That if everyone started to wander in despite there not being a sign up, I would still assume that it wasn't mine and I shouldn't go in and just take it.....
I am glad that Active.com shut it down. Good grief...
I do hope you get to do the GSC! But... in the grand scheme things work out the way they should and maybe if not this year... then next.
That is great to hear! "Nice try, but no"I actually haven't read any more cause it was getting me so riled up. I didn't think anyone would post that they were told their registration was not valid. (after all who wants to admit they were wrong?)
I actually posted that I worried about Disney banning from future races. One person thought there was no way that they would ban everyone. I am not so certain. I mean... they could. They can do what ever they want I suppose.
