Count me in--gonna do the 5K. My niece and her family (DH and DS) will be doing the half.

Hoping someone here might have a suggestion for me. On one of my runs this week, I managed to step on a smallish hole. This caused my foot above my arch to collapse into the hole... With the full force of my running step. My toes were folded upward (think hospital bed where center stays put and the foot of bed folds up). When I was done with that run the joint leading to my big toe really hurt and felt "out". I made a gripping motion with my toes and POP. Each run since I has been getting more an more sore. At the end of 7 miles today I could barely put weight on the ball of my foot near that big toe. Stopped at the running store and they didn't have much in the way of advice. I did buy a new pair of compression socks where the compression Goes throughout rather than just across the arch.... Maybe that will help? I can't imagine a doctor could do anything for me.

Yikes this sounds awful!! :( A girl I work with just had a sort of similar experience this past week (stepped too hard with the arch of her foot on the edge of a sidewalk by accident!) and was in horrible pain but just kept trying to "run it off", so to speak, until finally she just couldn't take the pain anymore and went to the doctor --and was told she has a pressure fracture. She's supposed to take a 6 week break from running, just as the weather is getting nicer!! :sad2: So personally, without knowing much yet about running injuries, I would definitely advise getting it checked out sooner than later, just to be on the safe side! Hopefully it is nothing serious!! :worried:

Hi! :goodvibes

I am looking into the Princess Half and have a question for those who have done it before. Considering where the start is, would staying at Boardwalk Villas be worth it? Or would it be fine to stay at Old Key West?
On the course map, it seems like a decent walk to to the start from BWV. Not really sure where the bus from OKW would drop off and pick up after.

Thanks, and good luck on everyone's training!

I dont think you should worry about where the OKW bus would drop off... if it is a host resort (and I believe all of them were host resorts this year), it will drop off with all the other rundisney buses as well as pick up in the same area.

Just finished a 9.70km run, a personal best for me! Did it in 1:02! I'm happy, but my legs are stiff! :)

Have a great day!

:cool1::cool1: Good job!!!

I ran in a rainy cold local 5k today, finished in under 29 minutes and WON my age division! I'm not sure how many people were in my division, but there were at least two more because there was a second and third place winner too.

I've always wanted to win an age group award and I'm so happy I did it! I got a nice metal water bottle with the race logo on it. :cool1:

Congrats!!! I know it is easy to think "well, not sure how many people there were"... I know I did a couple weeks ago when I did well... but bottom line is that regardless of how many people behind you... YOU did come in first and I assume this means you had a pretty good time. For me... it was a PR... no matter how many people were behind me.

Cool that you got a nice metal and water bottle!!!:thumbsup2

I just did my first long run since the PHM this year. I got sick and married, so little to no time to get out and run. I ran the Lake Minneola Half Marathon in Clermont and with 6+ weeks off with two short runs of 3 miles. I did surprisingly well, I got a PR of 1:42, weather was great, mid 60s, humidity was lower and windy.

Congrats on both your AWESOME time and your marriage! :goodvibes

Pretty true to size, if anything they may run a tiny bit on the larger size. For most of them, if you're between two sizes, I'd recommend going down a size for most of them. If you e-mail Leah with your measurements and the skirt you're interested in, she can advise you on it too.

Thanks! :thumbsup2

I didn't make great time, but still came in 14th for women 19-40 (it was a very small race) and got another medal and a plant. I'm 2/3 through my HM training for June!

Congrats!!! Bling is always fun to get! And a plant to boot?! Very cool. :thumbsup2
Hey ladies I just wanted to share that I competed in my first 10k this weekend! I beat my goal time by almost a minute with a time of 54.04! I was a small local race, it was rainy and chilly but still a lot of fun! My DBF won the race without training, I hate him sometimes ;) I'm training for my first half in July and I can't wait. I need to find some more local to do, I think I'm officially addicted ;) I hope everyone's training is going well :)

Great time!!! I know what you mean about being addicted. I am not sure if I run because I love it...or because I love the events! :scratchin or maybe it is so I can eat. ;) In any case... so much fun!!!

I think you should probably see a doctor. You could have torn or fractured something.

I am hoping not! someone suggested taping it... so I went to the KT tape site and read about how to wrap for the kind of injury I have. Well, low and behold the description of turf toe fits PERFECT. Wrapped my toe...so hopefully that will help. If it doesnt...yup... I will have to see a doc.

As I mentioned above... I think it is turf toe...and I HOPE that wrapping it with KT tape will help the healing. Otherwise, I might have to just brave going in to the doc.

Hi there!

We actually just finalized our reservations for BWV. Our main motive for that resort was we really wanted to try deluxe DVC. However, we figured that BWV is located by a bunch of other resorts so in the event it wasn't a host resort we could grab a runDisney bus somewhere nearby!

On a side note- hope everyone's training has been going well! School's had be super bogged down but with three weeks left I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel! :cool1:

I'm running a half this coming Sunday. I've been having some knee trouble so I haven't trained very well at all but I figured I'll run walk to finish instead of worrying about my time.

I hope you have a great race experience. Is this your 1st 1/2?

I'm running the R&R Nashville Saturday. So excited! :)

Nope, this will be #2. How about you? I wish there was an R&R closer to me because those seem like such a great time!

This will be #4 for me (all this year). We are flying to Nashville. DH asked me to find a race in Nashville when I asked to go to Disneyland. Oh, well, C2C another year. I'll let you know my impression of this race. I've already heard the hills are killers so I've been doing a lot of hill training. Where is your 1/2?

I'd love to earn my C2C but seeing as I'm from CT, that literally means flying from one coast to another. Maybe I'll save up and do it in a few years! A girl can dream!

My 1/2 is local- the Chesire Half Marathon. I'm pretty sure its only 3,000 runners or so but it should still be a good time.

Are you hoping to PR in Nashville? Or just looking for a fun run?

Just ran 6 miles today! This is a personal best! My pace was 11.5 minutes per mile. I am still breaking to walk occasionally and having issues breathing with this cold front ugh! I am hoping to be able to do 13 miles by late june. I signed up for a 5k may 3rd so I hope I can keep up good pace with the other runners.

I always hope to PR and have except for the Princess 2013. My expectations are not set too high because I've been told the course is difficult. I'm really looking forward to all the bands.

Congratulations! That's awesome :)

I just hit 6 miles this last weekend too but I think we're about to lose our cooler weather so hopefully I can still do it in the heat and humidity

WTG!!! I did 5.5 last week and this week I'll be doing 6 for my long run. Good luck on your 5K!

Need training suggestions:
I've been training with the Jeff Galloway app. I run 3min and walk 1min. My longer runs are at 4.5 and my short runs are at 5.5. I'm 54yo and the first time I've ever done any running in my life is the past 2yrs. I'm thinking I might be better off if I did longer walks inbetween my runs so instead of going 4.5 on the long runs, if I did 5.0 and walked 2min to recover maybe instead of 1min would that better my time/energy. I'm huffing/puffing at 5.5 with a min rest but 4.5 seems too easy but maybe it's best for the staying power??? Help!

It's so hard to find the "right" interval and speed, it might be a good idea to just experiment on the next few runs to see how you feel. And, as your training gets further along you'll probably need to mix it up again and experiment some more.

If you're just running on the treadmill (I'm just guessing based on your description above) you may find that running outside lets you set your own pace a little better without the treadmill forcing you to a set pace.

So on Sunday I was supposed to do 11 miles. Training for a half that is going to be here before I know it. YIKES! My training has gone downhill. I am blaming the weather. Anyways, I have been having leaking issues lately again. :confused3 I posted on my local MRTT (mothers run this town) FB page and a couple of people told me to check out Running like a Mother and Training like a mother books. Running like a Mother has a FB page. "Running like a Mother, the book" is the page. Just wanted to put this out there for all of you that may have female issues. On Tuesdays they have a post called TMI Tuesday. Todays post was a good one.

I've got the same issues! Thanks, I'll look those pages up, like NOW!!!! :)

That happened to me on my last run but doesn't usually so it surprised me a little. I'm thinking light days pad? What a bother!

Thank you for the suggestions. I think I will vary it up a bit next run and see how it feels. I'm just not wanting to fall back on the time at all. 13min mile isn't that fast to begin with.

Got the call annmarieda! My sandals are ready for pick up!

I don't have this often but it does happen towards the end of a race (since I hydrate more and stop for bathroom breaks less) sometimes. It is kind of gross, but the SparkleTech is awesome about not showing the issue. So while I'm not thrilled about it at least I know that no one else can tell (unlike the circuit training class where I learned that jumping rope with a full bladder after having had two giant babies is a bad idea). :rotfl:

I know it's not a run but I hiked a trail yesterday a total of 2 1/2 miles. I wore my new shoes and I didn't start to get shin splints until we were walking out to the car and back to the nature center. Felt great to get that in. Possible run tomorrow with so i will be stretching to avoid the shin splints and hip pain.
