Welcome back, Twinmickeys! How old are your boys?

Hope everyone had a good weekend training. Did my usual--TM on Saturday, outdoor walk in the cemetery today. I set my watch for 2 hours, and did 8.55miles in that time! A small amount of running, but mostly walking. I want to know I can run a bit just in case the sweeper is after me!!

One other addition today. I drank a Boost High Protein drink following my walk. I think it really made a difference in how my legs felt after the walk. They seem to have recovered very quickly. I got the idea of Boost since I have in the past used Powerbar Recovery Shake. Well, I can't find those shakes anymore. So, I thought I would look at the ingredient list for Boost. Not as much sodium, potassium or carbs as the Powerbar shake, but a bit more protein. Seems to have worked like a charm. Now, how to keep one chilled to drink at the finish line after the Princess :scratchin

Hi all,
thinking about signing up! Have to convince DH another trip would be ok..... wish me luck!:lmao:

Keylime: (Not only my favorite but the OFFICIAL state pie of FL!!)
Yes, I think the rugged one your thinking of would be Tree Tops Park. It has a horse trail as well, lots of trees!!. Off of 100th and Orange Drive in Cooper City. One off of Flamingo could be C.B. Smith Park???
I use Brian Piccolo Park, Vista View Park and the area near Tequesta Trace Park.

Tracy

BTW:

Information for a WISH hat/visor order please go to:

:lmao: I didn't see you had updated your post after I read last night. I didn't think there was info on here about the hats/visors because I had read it after the last post. :rotfl:

Thanks for that link. Am I the only one who thinks a pink hat for the Princess would be nice?

I was thinking the same thing but I'm working on a "Belle" theme and I'm not sure the pink hat goes with that. The WISH hat doesn't go well with it either but I figure I can get away with that since I want to be identified as a WISHer.

Sorry guys... can't add a pink hat to the order. Trying to stick with the "official" disboards/WISH color of brightyellow/limeade color like the original shirts and previous hat orders. Don't think I am in any positiong to change it and the hat order is a bit crazy with hats and visors in the yellow and lime colors. WISHers are identified physically by the broghtly colored shirts and I'm not sure how putting different colors out there would go over :confused3. The two different colors happened because one of the original orders for shirts was from ALertShirts which was the closest color they could find when doing a team order for shirt and this was before they found the RaceReady company that had a bright lime color more like the disboards color. That is why the hats are offered in yellow and lime. The hats/visors are of a material that you could pin some on them if you wanted or tie a bandana around them or something.

Thanks for your consideration.
Tracy

I'm trying to come up with a Belle theme too. My BFF suggested something using her everyday clothes as opposed to the yellow. We'll see since I haven't found anything good yet.

Do any of you wear hats or visors when running? I'm trying to decide if I should get one of the WISH hats or visors. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1981995

Hi! I wear the yellow version of the WISH visor and love it! I ordered a hat too, but didn't like it as much, so I gave it away at the Pop meet. Lots of people wear the hats and are very happy with them though. It's just a matter of personal preference. Having something to keep the glare out of the eyes is really important, and if heaven-forbid there is rain they will help with that too.

I bought the Target princess tiara someone posted about to wear to the P&P party, but will be sporting WISH apparel for the race itself, although I am thinking of adding a home-made (VERY home-made) princess skirt of tulle or something - can you tell my plan isn't very definite yet??

How is everyone's training going? I am in week two of MfM for the Jan half. So far so good. I do almost all my training on my trusty TM so I've been able to keep up with the new TV season while walking - gotta love multi-tasking!

Have a really great day everyone!

I was thinking of something like this too, with the skirt. However, I can't sew. At all. Would a few yards of tulle wrapped around my waist secured by duct tape look bad? ;) 'Cause that, I could manage. Then I was trying to figure out how to test that, so it wouldn't irritate me during the race. Won't I look cute running down the road in my skirt and tiara?

Actually, maybe there will be some options after Halloween on clearance. Hopefully.

There was a Disney booth at the Chicago Marathon expo. I asked if they were offering the Coast to Coast medal again. A woman confirmed this. She also mentioned that you could do the full or 1/2 in January or the 1/2 in March and Disneyland to be eligible. Also when I told her I signed up for the Princess 1/2 already she gave me a tiara "to wear while training". I may actually keep it for race day!

OK, the tiara is really cool! And I hadn't heard about the Coast to Coast medal.... hmmmm, wheels turning for next year......

A Coast to Coast medal? Do tell!!!

The c2c medal is without a doubt the most fabulous medal I have ever seen. It is beyond amazing.....it has the famous Walt holding Mickey's hand design in 3D - I wish I could find the thread with the picture, I know it was posted somewhere by Aloha Jeff. Anyway, it is definitely the coolest medal ever!!

I was planning on taking a length of elastic webbing and stapling the tulle/netting to it, and then just safety pinning the ends. Crafty I'm not!!

Just remember whatever you decide - you will be wearing it for 13.1 miles. Be sure to try it out before race day or you might end up very uncomfortable or having to discard part of your outfit along the way. Actually one of the first rules of racing is to not do anything different on the day of the event - don't eat anything different, don't drink anything different and don't wear anything you haven't worn before or you could end up miserable.

We are going to have so much fun!!

That's awesome! I missed registration for the 1/2 in January so I assumed I'd have to wait until 2010 to aim for the Coast to Coast medal. I'm glad that the Princess 1/2 will qualify for the medal too.

By the way, I've been lurking awhile, but I think this is my first time posting on this thread. Hello everyone!!! I'm planning on doing both the 5k and the 1/2 in March although I haven't registered yet. (I was at WDW for the Expedition Everest Challenge and I'm not ready to give Disney more of my money yet.) I'll probably be staying at All Star Movies.

hmmm... The conference that I was hoping would be in San Diego will not be there in February (thereby not allowing me to visit DLR again). I started considering the DL 1/2 after that. This makes me want to do it even more. A Coast to coast medal. How cool!

I also have a tiara I ordered a long time ago. Maybe I'll take that out to see if it works for me.

I love the thought of the coast to coast medal as well... I will probably have to wait at least a few years to do that, however.

Thanks for explaining that about the pink hats, Tracy. Makes sense. I have a headsweats hat that I wear on most of my out door walks. It is white and is the long bill style to keep the sun off my face. I also have a pale pink Under Armour that I also like. So, I will probably wear the pink UA for the Princess. I don't plan to dress up...

Now, how crazy do you guys think I will look in this beauty? Not to wear in Florida, but considering it for around here in the winter.

The flaps do fold either inside the hat or outside if one prefers. It is called the Elmer Fleece!
