I do! We're from a small town in Michigan and had lived in Orlando for two years. We were very grateful to find Celebration because it has the small-town atmosphere we grew up with. Sometimes, the extent to which the town is planned can be off-putting, but for the most part, I really like it. And the proximity to WDW is obviously unbeatable! ;)

Cool - another Michigander. I'm from the Upper Peninsula but spend at least half my time in Lansing for work.

We're Michiganders too :) Lansing (born and raised), but would love to live closer the my hero :smickey:

I've done other WDW races (ToT and EE) both times I've seen people with Ipods/MP3 players. Not sure how they would police this. There is just too many people. For those of you haven't done a WDW race, there is a lot of downtime before a race begins. So having music with you isn't a bad idea.

Also, not to get too personal, that if you aren't a fan of porta potties, make sure you take care of that need before you get there.

Is there going to be a meet for the Princesses? We will be there late Wednesday night and staying until early the following Wednesday.

Since we aren't going to be ready for the half, we deceided to sign up to be volunteers. "If you can't be an athlete, then be an athletic supporter!"

I am getting so excited. I did get my TM for Christmas so now I can be more aggressive with my training. On these bitter cold days, it is nice to know I can still get in my miles.
So looking forward to this, my first, run. All your questions, answers, and information is greatly appreciated.

Congrats to all those who did the mini or marathon this weekend! I was happy to hear that Disney will have photographers along the route, I was really nervous that since I would be running this one by myself I wouldn't get any pics of my first mini!

I'm doing pretty well with my training. I did 7 miles today!! I am averaging just under 11 min. per mile but would like to get that down to 10min before the Princess. Good Luck and Good training to everyone else! Its cool to see everyone being so encouraging to each other!

HI
I feel this way as well. I was unable to train during the Fall and early Winter due to poor health, but I have started training again and did 4 miles today! I know it's behind what others are doing, but a big accomplishment for me, after being ill for so long. I was so happy today. For example, I was so out-of-it last Fall, that after walking for only 2 miles, I would need several days to recover! Crazy, I know, but that is what was going on for me.:confused3

I'm not a runner, but a powerwalker. Because I feel like my old self is coming back, I have started to train for the Princess again. I really want this as a personal statement of returning health for me. I would consider it a personal victory if I could finish this Half Marathon.

I am realistic, and if my health doesn't hold up, then I will also be a volunteer. I feel like I am too much a part of this Dis Princess group to give up yet. But if it turns out that way I will still be there to be rooting all of you on.

Are there any other powerwalkers doing the Princess?:yay:

Cool. I'm close to another DISer. I've been in Lansing since last Sunday and will be here until Thursday. Then I'll be back again on next Monday.

We are at Disney from the 27th of Feb. to the day after the half.

We haven't set any official meets yet. We've discussed but never actually set something specific.

I am a walk/run girl.. walk 3 min, then run 2.. so i guess i fall in an average powerwalker catagory.. I really stink at fast walking, the fastest that i have continously walked has been at a 3.8 pace.. then run at 5.5 pace.. i gotta pick up the walk speed, but its coming slowly.. i use to only walk about at 3.6, so i guess i have improved somewhat.. i am starting to enjoy the walking more as i do it, it use to be torture for me.. LOL

Happy Monday ladies! Sounds like everyone had a great weekend of training. Congrat's to everyone who got out there and did something! Any movement in a pond will create a rippling effect. :thumbsup2 Cold, cold run this morning! 21!! (where did the little freezy smiley go??) Did 5 miles. I am now sitting at work trying to become motivated to run some reports. Guess I better go do that. Chat with you guys later! :flower3:

Shelley...you are so tired you can't even run REPORTS?! ;)

I am getting ready to head home to my TM. I am hoping do do my 100 min. workout today, Wednesday and Thursday. Friday will have to be my long training session for this week since I am heading out of town for 4 days after that. The hotel will have TM's so hopefully I will be able to keep somewhat on schedule while I am gone.

I timed my 6 mile on the TM today. 78:56. I feel awesome!! Hungry, but awesome!!

Christine, awesome time!! I am always hungry too afterwards... but, seeing the calorie burned go up when i am on the tm, makes it a lil' easier to have a snack after.. at least i don't feel so guilty! LOL ;)

My boyfriend and I did 5 miles the other night in 51 minutes! We were pretty excited. I feel like we could have done more but I was worried about how I'd feel the next day. haha.

Great job everyone on getting out there and getting in the 5 and 6 milers. And with the more miles the more hungry and tired you might get especially later in the day after the run. I use to always have to take a nap on Saturday afternoons after my long run. It all feels good though - especially when you get that medal around your neck not to mention the benefits to your health.

Your thoughts on running with a chest cold. I am running on the TM since it hurts to breath outside right now. I felt fine after my 5 miles last night but this morning I feel like death warmed over.

Hi guys-

Just checking back in, I tend to be a lurker. I went for 6.5 miles on Sunday, 91 minutes. I am really slow, hopefully there will be others with me on the course! I also do the walk 3 minutes, run 2 minutes.

I have a question...we will be staying at All Star Movies, me, my mom and my DS 2. They don't want to come with me the morning of the race, but would like to see me finish. Is there bus transportation from the resort for them? If they drive, where would they park? I know the race ends at Epcot, but where exactly? Sorry, I am completely confused....

The race will end in the Epcot parking lot. They can either take the resort bus or drive over to Epcot and walk to the tented area. You can't miss it!

hey all- i am staying at the all star and im solo for the race as well so would love to meet people to ride the bus with and hang out with before the race...
i need to get back going on my mileage. i tend to be walkign more in the cold weather, but going every day. I figure something is better then nothing! i plan on going for at least 4 miles of running saturday.

I'm staying at ASMo for the race and will be down there from the 4th-11th solo. I'd love to hook up with someone for the ride to the race, or other things if you get tired of being by yourself. This is my first ever solo trip and I'm just not sure how I'll manage being on my own at WDW...more from (believe it or not) a BOREDOM perspective (I'm a social creature when I'm at Disney).

Anyway, my training for the race has been spotty at best *sigh* I signed up in May and had alllll of that time...but that was just it....I had a ton of time and took it forgranted - LESSONED LEARNED...START EARLY next year!! (like Marth 10th I'm thinking!)

I am slow (pace-wise) and my longest distance so far has been 3 miles. :sad2: I am in SOOOO far over my head, but my hubby won't let me pull out. At least from the new map, I know that I need to get to mile 7 at least without breaking pace, so that I can run through the castle before being swept. princess:

I don't know that there is much I can do between now and the race to improve things too much -- other than get out there and WORK IT. At the moment I'm feeling fat (well...more accurately I AM fat, but I'm working on that - lost 8lbs last week) and stupid (for not training more). My goal was always to jog/walk it. My fastest walk speed is 3.8mph, I jog between 4.5 and 5mph. That said, within a week of consistant exercise I get my wind up and can go a bit faster without being totally winded.

Ah well...I've got 7 weeks before the race, I just might be able to do this and at least manage to get through half of it.

Are there any other 'cuddly' princesses in our lil group who are run/walkers?
