hi, anyone else got into this?
last year my dh started at the end of our stay to collect but never traded and we brought the pins relevant to us, places we had been, hobbies, fav characters etc.
this year for xmas i would like to buy him some to "trade" but dont know where to start, looked on ebay but there is millions:scared1: ok slight less, but you know what i mean. Is there a trading etiquette, and some more collectable than others or is it purely fun??
also if i get some parisian pins, would they have more tradability than wdw ones?
sorry for making words up as i go along:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

We started pin trading in DLP and carried on when we went to WDW. We bought cheap ones from E-BAY and then took them with us. We only traded with CM's as they have to trade where as other guests can refuse to trade with you. If a CM wearing a green laynard then they can only trade with children.

Disney Pin Trading Etiquette
•Have Fun! Disney Pin Trading can be a great way to interact withand meet Cast Members and other Guests.
•The main criteria to judge whether a pin is tradable or not is that it must be a metal pin that represents a Disney Event, Location, Character or Icon. Some pins from our Operating Participants are also tradable, but must represent the Operating Participant in a way that has aspecific Disneyland®Resort or Walt Disney World®Resort affiliation.
•Pins should in good, undamaged condition.
•Trade one pin at a time, hand to hand, with the backs attached.
•Guests may trade a maximum of two pins with each Cast Member.
•Guests may trade only one pin of the same style with a Cast Member.
•When trading with Cast Members, Guests should offer a pin that is not already displayed on the Cast Member's lanyard.
•Please refrain from touching another person's pins or lanyard. If you need a closer look, ask the person wearing the lanyard if they can bring it into clearer view for you.
•Disney name pins may not be traded with Cast Members.
•Monies or gifts may not be exchanged or used in trade for a pin.
•In addition to the 12 pins on Cast lanyards, some Cast Members may wear a "Showcase" pin. These "Showcase" pins are for demonstrations to our Guests and are not available for trade.

We enjoy it as you get to chat to the CM's and they, in general, "love the British accent". The only problem I found as a man was that I spent a lot of time peering at lady CM's chests, which can be a little embarrassing!

Just be careful that the pins you are trading are Disney pins and not knocked off/fake pins.

Be warned though..............it's very very addictive and if you have 2 pins from a set you will be checking E-BAY to find the last 2 that you need to complete the set. At whatever cost.

I have used this site twice now, found him on Ebay then 2nd lot of 100 pins bought direct from his site. They are all genuine park pins, no cheap rubbish, incl a lot of cast lanyards. 2nd lot got hit with import tax but still made them worth getting. If I order anymore I would probably ask about collecting from his house as he lives near WDW, it would save him postage costs and me the import tax.
