Looking for tales of people who have used the dining? Are there restrictions when ordering meals, appetizers, dessers, drinks? Any left over meals or snacks? Best value counter service, sit down meals? Really looking for info before our August trip. :confused3

No restictions except at Planet Hollywood and another one at DTD. I cant remember the name because we werent interested in eating there. They have a surcharge on any entree over $21. Other than those you can order ANY appetizer, entree or dessert you want. The drinks are pretty iffy. Some places let you get smoothies and milkshakes for your drink, other places will only let you have them as your dessert, always ask first.

I cant really remember what our best value was on CS. Sit down meals were CRT and Maya Grill, they were about $120 and $107.

You will get alot more information on the Restaurant board, and if you search I bet there are tons of relpies about CS value. Hope you have a great trip....Im jealous :)

We went in May and just loved the dining plan. Our best values were at the Steakhouse in Canada and any of the character dining places.

Also, the plan is good unitl midnight on the day you check out, so we were able to stay at our resort and use up the counter services and snacks we had left. We had several snacks left and used them for chips and soda bottles for the plane ride home.

Hope you have a great time!!!

Best deal IMO for TS is Kona Cafe. This was the best restaurant we ate at during our July 4th week trip. Best value CS meal was Wolfgang Puck Express in DTD - excellent food and a lot of it! Also, Tusker House at AK had some excellent healthy choices and was a good value.

We had an awesome dinner at Le Cellier (Canada - World Showcase - EPCOT), and at Hollywood Brown Derby (Disney Studios). At Le Cellier both adults (KAMommy & me) had the surf & turf (prime rib & huge shrimp), and chocolate mousse for dessert (maple cookie-type thing shaped like a moosehead). At Brown Derby I had a center-cut steak, KAMommy had rack of lamb. Both kids just had typical kid meals. If not for the meal plan, each of those two meals would have been over $100 each. Neither of us are big drinkers, so that wasn't an issue for us (a diet Coke for each of us and it's all good).

I'm glad to see this thread. I'm still debating about getting the dining plan.

The dining plan was great for us. IMHO the Concourse Steakhouse was the best of the TS restaurants that we tried while we were there.

DINING PLAN ROCKS !!

We ate in places we wouldn't have otherwise gone. We had the luxury to order what ever we wished (no restrictions in any restaurant we went to) without worry of price. CMs were pleasant and helpful. Could have eaten too much if we wanted too, but controlled it pretty well.

Our TSs......

Liberty Tree Tavern - Great food & great Character interaction
Chef Mickey's Breakfast - Good food & great character interaction
Whispering Canyon - Good food and a real fun time
Mam Melrose - Great food and wonderful service
Alfredo's - Possibly the best meal we have ever had, ever, anywhere !! Marco our server was wonderful too !!
50's Diner - Good food and fun CMs

Counter Service - OUr opinion was that the burgers were ok. Typical park fare. Pecos Bill's had a nice fixin's bar, but in the end, no CSs overwhelmed us.

Snacks - Mickey Bars. :mickeybar Nothing else needs to be said.

We went in May and the dining plan was an awesome value for my family. For 1 table service credits, the best values are Kona Cafe, Concourse Steakhouse, Le Cellier, and Teppanyaki. For 1 counter service credits, the best values were at Flame Tree BBQ, Tusker House, Cosmic Rays, and Wolfgang Puck Express at Marketplace side. Snacks were mostly Mickey bars or those color-swirl popsicles.

We shared most meals or ordered additional sides to share so we stretched our paid 4 days meal plan to have 5 days of food.

This is a great plan if you use wisely or want the convenience of pre-paid meals. Personally, I think eating on the dining plan beyond 5 days is overkill, just too much food and expect to gain some weight.

Have a good time planning. :mickeybar
