Calling all over-planners...

I love your idea!!! Not only our own kids happy they can make another child happy. Your a great mom to think of this. I am going to keep this idea in mind for when we go.

It is SO INSANELY WEIRD you posted this and I happened upon it. I just made my FIRST trip to the Dollar Tree this afternoon and I bought TEN packages of glow in the dark bracelets and necklaces for my DD to "share" in Magic Kingdom during MNSSHP!

How GREAT will it feel to spread the pixie dust????

Question for the glow in the dark stuff, can you buy these early? Or do they expire or go bad? We don't leave til Sept, but I've been slowly picking up things we need. For glow in the dark things, should I wait til September?

Just wondering,

You can buy early. I've had mine for 2 years and still have 1/2 a container left.

I am making "goody" bags for everyone. I am going with teens but there is alot of things that you can use. I go to the Dollar Stores about once a week to see what I can find. We are flying, so I am picking up things like extra batteries, tissue packs, handi wipes, anti-bacterial hand wash, silly little games, etc. Also snacks, both for the plane and at the parks and I am putting this all in small drawstring backpacks that I found at the Dollar Store!!!
Also, if you are going in the summer, make sure to include a fan or mister! Comes in real handy and will save you at least 20 dollars over the ones in the park! :wizard:

Have a magical trip!!! :wizard:

We made a countdown calendar for the refrigerator. It is for our cruise next year. For the cruise we made pictures of each port for each day of the cruise. I saw on another thread a mom who made a very cool felt Mickey head countdown calendar for the kids to move the Mickey heads each day. So, I'm making one of those for my neice who is coming out to our place to go to DL.

As a proud and obsessed overplanner, here is what I would do.

1) Countdown Calendar.
I bought a big one @ $1 store, loaded it up with Disney stamps/stickers
and made mickey head stickers (xyron). We leave 5/28, had it up for
3 weeks+ now. Gives you something to look forward to every morning

2) Join Tourguidemike.com

3) After joining TGM, print out all the info. you will need. Park schedules,
events, busiest days, etc. Then make a list of what parks you are going
to do & what days. Put them into the schedule avail. on TGM. This coul
take awhile (which is good :) )

4) Create a "Disney Master Plan". I buy a soft side vinyl 3 ring binder (1/2")
and a plastic folder/pocket insert. I put everything in this thing. I make
the park plans, make a really nice ADR list (complete with pictures)
laminate index cards, coupons, you name it. EVERYTHING goes into this
folder. It's really nice because as info. is updated on TGM, I can just pull
& replace.

5) Make packing list. There is a good one on allearsnet.com. I made my own
alphabetically (I know, I'm a dork)

6) Figure out how many clothing items will be needed for trip (socks, under
garments, etc) and get any shopping you may need done. Get big
ziplock bags for each day per child, easier to pack and you don't forget
anything.

7) Print all airline, rental car, hotel info. and put in folder.

8) Make checklist of everything you will need and keep adding.

That's all I can type right now, if I remember any others, I'll add to. Hope it gets you started :lmao:

Two ideas....

One is I make "hidden mickeys".. By taking black construction paper and cutting out one bigger circle (mickeys head), and two smaller circles (ears) tape or glue them on and decorate them.. I usually just write how many days left until our trip on each one... 14, 13, 12, etc.. in a glitter pen... Then every day I hide one.. (I have to admit we do not have children, I hide them for my 41 yr old husband) Its fun finding new places to hide them.. In his lunch, on his rearview mirror, in the shower, in his reading book, my favorite though was on the inside lid of the toilet.....( hey, he almost pee'd on mickey!! :teeth: )

Another is to print out the extra magic hours AM & PM to see if there is enough open to make it worth going.. It doesn't look as if they have as much for the AM as they do the PM...
I am going with my 63 yr old mother and I noticed AM extra magic at MGM is Tower of Terror, Rock n'roller,Star tours, and Muppets... I know she will not go on any of those except muppets so its not worth it for us to go for extra magic am there....

"Hidden Mickeys" now that is a riot!!!! I absolutely love that idea!!!!!!!

thelionqueen - I am so with you on the three ring binders!!!!

Yes ,DD9 had so much fun deciding who to pass the Glow in the Dark Bracelets out to each nite. She probably had more fun than just wearing them herself..I remember one nite after "Wishes" ,a little boy about 4 yrs old became sick and vomited, right there in front of the Castle and was crying .We had our Glow Bracelets with us and my daughter offered him one...it kind of caught them offguard and it brought smiles to everyones faces.Disney is all about passing along the Magic! :wizard: The small wedding bubbles were a big hit too! We always thru a few packs into our backpacks each day! Also, the post about packing a days worth of a matching outfit(socks, undies, matching hair accesories, shirt, shorts) into a big Ziplock Bag, I also did! It made it easier to pack and when we got to the hotel my DD9 could pick out an outfit each day with no fussing. A great idea that I learned from these Disboards !!! :thumbsup2

Can the kids wear the glow-in-the-dark bracelets/necklaces on the dark rides or do you have to cover them up?

In the same boat as you TruBlu. Everything is planned, thought out (over and over and over and over once again). This wait is killing me and it's driving the DH nuts. He truly thinks I have some sort of sickness.
Today, to add a little more excitement to my day, I PAID THE VACATION IN FULL, ONE DAY BEFORE IT WAS DUE!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: Only 46 more days to go!!
Now I just have to wait for the paperwork and luggage tags and of course shop, shop, shop!! And of course obsess!!!

Waiting is SO hard! My paperwork came on Friday and that felt great. Now I am waiting for my Magical Express paperwork. When I get that then I will know it is soon! For now, go to Dollar Tree. Little shopping trips help me get through. And I make tons of lists.

Yes, you can wear the Glow- in-Dark Bracelets /Necklaces on the rides !!! Another thing to do while waiting is: collecting and cleaning pennies for the Pressed Penny Machines...it's fun and cheap...we kept our pennies in an extra film container in my backpack!Put on a Disney CD and have fon planning !!! :thumbsup2

I read on another site that you could watch a disney movie every night until your vacation day. :bounce:

Gone Disney.

Man, these are great ideas.... but what do you do when you have to HIDE all this excitement from your kids???? I don't know if I can hold out!!

After they went to bed last night, I made a Disney journal for myself to take on the trip. But then I had to take it to work and hide it. :(

I also have a binder full of information, touring plans etc.

Hidden at work.

See a pattern developing here?

You can always look into: Mousesavers.com and Allears.net for more....Disney planning info!!!! Have Fun Planning :sunny:
