Calling all Orlando dog owners - HELP!!!

Please chime in with your favorite dog kennel in the Orlando area. We are traveling to Hilton Head in June, and we have rented a pet-friendly villa there for a week. From HH, we are driving to Orlando and spending 3-4 days at Disney. We thought a family member would be able to help out, but she can't watch our dog while we're at WDW. I read that the WDW kennels don't allow dogs to stay overnight and you have to walk them yourself 2-3 times a day. We could decide not to take our dog with us, but that's really a very last resort because we have paid a non-refundable deposit for the villa. We'll also be 12 hours from home, so we can't drive back to Ohio, drop the dog off, and then drive back down to Florida. I'd prefer to be able to look into the kennel (by having other DISser's approval or by checking out a website) since I won't get to visit it beforehand.

Any help on this matter would be GREATLY appreciated.

We've lived in Orlando for 11 yr and had dogs almost the whole time. Our vets do boarding and we always had good experiences there. South Orlando Animal Hospital is on South Orange Blossom Trail a couple of miles north of the Greeneway (417), maybe 15 min from WDW.

You've been misled a bit....Disney Kennel's do offer overnight stays, but yes you are encouraged to come and walk your dog twice a day....why not? Aren't you bringing your beloved pet so that he/she isn't in a lonely kennel? The kennels are staffed by wonderful, loving people!!! We left our Cav. King Charles Spaniel in them in January....the one at MK and then at Fort Wilderness...first time in a kennel ever for him and he did great! The one at MK can be accessed at night (after hours - they provide you with a number to call and security comes and lets you in to the Kennel---best bet to leave them here overnight...you can book that for the whole week and then take him to the one at the park of the day(you'll have to pay for both kennels)).....but the rest of them are not accessible, after I believe it was 1 hour after park closing-Ft. Wilderness was 7 or 8 o'clock, since it's not a park......bring your pet to the park you're visiting that day...and it makes it easy to go out and visit/walk him/her!

The best, hands down, is the VIPet Resort. They treat our dogs so well and they are incredibly nice. I highly recommend them!

We've never used them but I have heard of them before. I love checking their web cams during the day to see what the dogs are up to!
But, I didn't think they are near WDW. How far away from WDW are they?

We used Bass Pet Motel in Kissimmee at Christmas. They were recommended by someone at the Epcot Kennel. We were very pleased.

The VIP Pet resort!!! They have a website. It is right off of Sandlake Road, before the FL mall and right after I-4, you go underneath I-4. Someone else mentioned it. We moved to the area less than a year ago and used it one time so far! Fabulous. Check them out!

It's not that I'm unwilling to use WDW kennels - it just seems like a lot of work to move him from kennel to kennel. Because of the make-up of our group, it won't be a problem to walk him twice a day. I just read someone on here that their new puppy died after being kenneled - it wasn't anything bad about the kennel, just the stress of the environment, so that sort of scared me. And I don't love the idea of paying for a kennel that I'm not using that day. I must have misunderstood because I read that you could keep the pets overnight but you can't reserve the space ahead of time, only day-by-day if there's space. Can you confirm or deny this for me? Just goes to show even in the world of DIS information can be given or received incorrectly. Thanks for your thoughts, everyone.
