Calling all May 17th, 2012 Dream cruisers!!

HI everybody!

I will be joining you all on this cruise. My mom (53) and I (28) go on a cruise every year for Mother's Day, although we have never actually been on Mother's Day. It's usually before or after. This year we chose the Dream! We're incredibly excited :)

I am leaving DH at home for the Mother's Day trip, as usual. I figured it will be a good way to get myself in the Castaway Club before I have children. That way, when I do have kids, we get some past guest perks ;)

I'm interested in the secrets of Disney Cruise Line and I'm hoping to find out a bunch of new stuff on these boards!

Welcome! I'm taking my mom for Mother's Day also. There is so much info here in the DISboards. There's also a really detailed book on DCL called Passporter. They have their own website or you can find it on Amazon.

We are trying to decide about Palo as well. We did the 3-night on the Dream in Septmber and liked all of the sit down restaurants. Did Palo on the Wonder and I'm not sure if it worth it... I wish you could go into Palo just to get dessert!

Hi everyone, it will be my brother, his daughter, my 78 yr old Mom and a 55 yr old me! So excited!:dance3:

Hi Everyone,

We will be sailing with our daughters ages 5 and 3. This will be our first Disney cruise. We are excited and a little nervous. Trying to learn tips for a smooth trip.

I found the PassPorter really really helpful. They started with books on Disney World but started doing the Cruise Line also. They have their own website Passporter.com and the books are on Amazon. I also read as many trip reports as I could and learned from them too.

My hubby and I will be joining this cruise!! I was suppose to be on the Fantasy right now for the TA cruise, but they only alloted 2 rooms, instead of the 3 they did for fantasy. So the last couple of days I've been bummed looking at my coworkers (and everyone else's pix) that I said, why not.

So hubby and I, no kids, leaving them w/my mom. I'll be booking in the am, no room, going to do a gty room this close. I'm really hoping something is still avail at Palo! If not, not a huge deal as we're still going w/out the kiddos :) But we've been on Wonder and Magic and really enjoy it.

Not sure if we will do anything in Nassau or not, may do one of the atlantis adventures/beach or something. We LOVE to snorkel in CC... snorkel and sit on the beach, perfect!

We're also going to be on this cruise. We just booked last week when we realized that we probably have to cancel our Panama Canal Cruise because DD will change schools in summer and won't be able to go on vacation whenever we want anymore (she's in a year round school without set vacation times right now). So this will probably be our last vacation outside of school breaks for the next six years.

Anyway, I'm really excited as we've never been to the Bahamas and DD can't wait to be on Castaway Cay.

DH just goes with the flow and pays the bill :thumbsup2

I hate to leave the party, but had to change dates due to the work schedule. Happy Cruising everybody :)

Pam that's such a bummer. We found out our friends had to cancel too. Enjoy the Fantasy!

Has anyone with a GTY room gotten their assignment yet? Figured we'd have it by now.

From what i've been reading it's 1-2 weeks before. I'm anxiously waiting...

Thanks so much. That's a bummer your friends had to cancel also. The Dream is so beautiful, you guys are going to love it!

A tip for everybody is that I didn't see many people indulging in the free goodies that are in the Cove Cafe. The coffee you do have to pay for, but the treats that are in the glass case are free, you just have to ask for them.

Hi All!

DP and I have a few vacation days to burn, so we'll be joining you on this cruise! We're going to spend a couple of nights at WDW before. This will be our 4th cruise. We just booked, so I'll be able to see tomorrow what might be available for Palo, etc., but if we can't go, that'll be OK since it is such a short cruise.

I thought I saw someone post about the CC 5K-- we'll be there! Our last cruise was MR and our next is Alaska, so I'm excited to squeeze in another trip to CC. :)

We were on the Dream in August--it's awesome! We probably won't do any excursions this trip-- just looking forward to "hanging out" for a few days.

I booked a GTY and we have had our cabin assignment for 2 months already. I'm rather disappointed actually! Not in the way that most would think. We booked a 9A GTY back in September. I am perfectly okay with getting the category I booked, but...

I saw my cabin number was 6186, so I quickly jumped on a site with deck plans. They assigned me a handicap accessible cabin. Neither my mom or me is handicap. I am upset because they are taking a cabin "off the market" that someone might actually need. My husband's grandmother always has a hard time getting an accessible room because they are always booked. To think that Disney would put able bodied people in a room designed for someone who needs the features inside upsets me. Especially so far out from sail date.

I called and told them that I would be more than happy to have my room switched if someone wants to make a reservation and NEEDS the room. The woman's response was that they do not move anyone to a different cabin when booked as a GTY. Which was not what I was asking, I simply wanted them to note that I'd be willing to move if someone needs it.

It's nothing to ruin my cruise over, but upsetting to know that Disney may not value handicap passengers very highly. :(

We got our GTY assignment right away (within 24 hrs of booking): 5526. A 5E for our 6A GTY. At least it's not over Evolution, and it's on the CC side of the ship. :)

I can't find a good set of 3day navigators. Do they do "regular" rotational menus each night? We currently have Palo booked for the 2nd night, when they do fireworks/Pirates.

We finally got our room assignment. Placed in a 8d. Had a 9a gty. Not a big difference but no complaints here. An upgrade is an upgrade. :cool1:

We got our cruise documents today, so we're doinng the doc dance!
:cool1: party:

Booked our cruise today! Dh and I decided we needed a few days without our girls to rekindle our romance lol. So excited! We found a VGT category for a great price and jumped on it. Excited to be going but a little sad to be leaving dd's home.
