Booked my family of 4 (2 adult, 2 child) flying 3/5 ret 3/13 out of EWR to MCO. 970.00 all in. This is our first time flying Jet Blue. Anything special we need to know about them? normally we fly SouthWest out of PHL.

Do they offer curb side check in? I read we get the first bag for free. how strict are they with carry on's ?

Any and all advice is appreciated.

Scott and Peg.

I often fly EWR to MCO on JetBlue. They are located in Terminal A and, yes, they have curbside check-in & first bag is free. 2 carry-ons (one being a personal item, like a briefcase or purse). They are fairly strict with this. They offer free soft drinks/iced tea/lemonade/water & free snacks.

My favorite feature of Jet Blue is the personal TV screen for each seat with 30+ free channels of DIRECTV. There is a channel that shows the location of the plane on a map - I like that because I often wonder exactly what state I'm currently flying over! Movies are available for $6. Standard headphone jack.

If you get the extra-legroom seats ($20/seat) you get early boarding, which I prefer.

That's all I can think of for now!

Bring your own earphones for the dollar store. The kids will love having their own tv. My kids hate when we don't fly JB.:happytv:

Track the price of your flights on yapta.com If you enter your flight information, it will e-mail you when the price changes. Then, simply call up Jetblue, tell them the price dropped and you want a credit. You get a credit that must be booked (not flown) within one year. Even if it drops $25, with 4 people that is $100 credit! You can keep doing it too, if the price drops multiple times.

Oh one more thing is they have dunkin donuts coffee...yum...plus all the snacks you can eat..all for free!

You can do this online too, you just process a "change" and select the same intinerary and it will credit one account per reservation number. The credit is valid for 12 months, but it doesn't have to be used within 12 months, just booked. The credits can also be used for individuals other then those the credit was applicable to.

The price depends on the length of the flight, and yes, IMO, its the only way to fly JetBlue (although their standard seats have great pitch, but I like the extra legroom).

REALLY??!! That is very good info to know, because it seems like l lose my online bonus jetblue points when I change over the phone...always figured the credit was worth more than the extra points, but if I can have my cake and eat it too...well then...that's even better!

We just returned from WDW flying on JetBlue to Boston, which was our second time using them. Before we had kids, we would just go with the lowest cost - regardless of the airline. Now that we have two kids (2 and 5), we find that the TV on JetBlue makes it a real stand-out, and normally the prices are at least competitve. We've got another trip to WDW planned in October, and are waiting for them to release the schedule so that we can book with them again.

We love JetBlue and only fly with them. We have flown out of EWR many times and yes they do have curbside checkin and the first checked bag is free. Their carry on size is huge! Here is the info from their site:

Each customer may bring one bag that fits in the overhead bin plus one personal item (purse, briefcase, laptop, etc.) that fits under the seat in front of you.

Your personal item must not exceed 17"l (43.2 cm) x 12.5"w (31.8 cm) x 8"h 20.3 cm) in order to fit under the seat in front of you.

To fit in the overhead bin, your item must not exceed:

for our Airbus A320: 26 inches (66 centimeters) length x 18 inches (45.72 centimeters) width x 12 inches (30.48 centimeters) height

for our EMBRAER 190: 24 inches (60.96 centimeters) length x 16 inches (40.64 centimeters) width x 10 inches (25.4 centimeters) height
If you have a medical assistance item, it will not count as a carry-on.

The TV's are fantastic and like others have said, bring your own headphones. They work better than theirs and they will charge you to buy theirs. The free snacks and drinks are great too!

Can someone also explain boarding? When you book, do you get assigned seats? We are a family of 5. I would not feel comfortable if my kids were split up from us. Thank you, for any information.

When you book you can choose your seats.

However I think its important to understand that a seat assignment on ANY airline is not guaranteed. If there is aircraft changes, schedule changes, etc, seat assignments can be lost/no longer applicable. Now with JetBlue using only two types of aircraft the risk is diminished slightly from equipment changes.

Yes you get to pick your seats when you book--got mine all set!

Thank you. For some reason I was under the impression you could not make seat assignments (maybe I am confusing Jetblue with another airline).

Also, FYI they load the back rows first. I believe they start with the last row up to row 15 and then rows 15 down. Parents with small children that need extra time for example with carseats, etc you are allowed to board first along with those who need extra help.

We always choose our seats while booking online and have never had the seats changed on us.

If you want to get technical, the board Extra Legroom Seats first, then following the pattern you describe.

I too have never had my seats changed on JetBlue, but it is a reality that it can happen.

The largest one would be Southwest Airlines, they have no assigned seating they use boarding numbers based on check-in time.

I have a few questions, sorry to hijack your thread!! Is Jet Blue on the same side of the terminal as ME? I know SWA is NOT and I had to lug all of our stuff and two kids clear across the airport, not fun!

Also, do they typically "save" some seats that are assigned at the airport? Going down I did the extra leg room for $30 each..yikes! but coming back I didn't, and there were NOT 3 seats next to each other. It's myself traveling with 2 kids so will I be forced to pay for the extra leg room so we can sit together? Or do they still keep some rows open until check in?

I don't use ME so I can't help you with that, but
I would try calling JetBlue asap and explain your predicament. Usually rows 1 & 2 are available for medical reasons, children traveling alone, etc
They "may" be able to help you out, especially since you're traveling alone with 2 children.
I would NOT wait until getting to the airport

That's right, I forgot about that! Also I believe those sitting in the emergency exit rows are included in the extra legroom seat boarding.

One time when DH and I were flying back from WDW alone, they asked for volunteers for the exit rows because a family with young children had those seats and they do not allow kids in that row. DH and I got lucky and got to get those seats. We boarded first and got the extra legroom for free! It was great!

Us too! We were in row 3. We expected to be in the exit rows when we gave up our row 7 regular seats for a family, but they used our seats to put a family together and put the 2 of us in the extra leg-room seats for free. Totally unexpected.

Yes, exit row seating is Extra Legroom seating and has the fee attached to it and boards just like any other Extra Legroom seat.
