Calling All GF Experts!

Ok now I am getting excited! We are staying at GF in September for the first time. Our disney travel person requested Sago Cay (marina view) for us. She said it would be nice to be close to Gasparilla's since we'll have our 6 month old with us. Do you all agree? Also our other children are 14, 11 and 9What type of resort activities are available? Also is there a boat we could rent to fit all of us? Any advice or info you can give is appreciated. I have visited the GF thread but there is so much info and soo many pages that it is a little overwhelming. With a now 5 month old I don't have too much time to sit at my computer!! hee hee Thank you again!!

Yay!! You chose a wonderful resort! It has become our favorite at WDW.

Sago is great for proximity to Gaspies. There is a map of the resort on the first page of the GF thread and you can get an idea of location. Gasparilla's is right near the marina and that area is perfect for watching Wishes. They sometimes pipe in the soundtrack there, also.

YOu can rent pontoon boats or Boston Whalers. They are both fun - we prefer the pontoon just because they are more roomy and comfortable to spread out.

There are daily pool activities. They change and are listed on the blackboard on the lifeguard's chair. YOu will see it as you enter the pool area. They have different games, water games, Wii set up, crafts, etc in the afternoons...usually starting at noon or 12:30 and go til 4:30 or 5 pm. The arcade in Gaspies is small but the CR has the best and it's just a short monorail ride away.

Sago Cay IS the CLOSEST to Gasparillia's we stayed there twice in April. A boat to fit you all would run around $250 for 30 minutes or so (They are the same ones used for the Wishes cruise). The marina view is one of the best I have seen (Besides the MK view), and I think you will love it!

That price is a mistake....the boat rental is more like $45 per 1/2 hour. And they will give an annual pass discount, too.

WE do the boat rentals often.

I'm not a GF expert but do love staying there.

Sago is the closest non concierge location to Gasparilla's but I'm not sure why you'll need that with a baby. If you need a microwave, you can request one for your room.

Sago is the farthest from the pools so you might want to keep that in mind with requests.

I agree that the pontoon rentals are more in the $45/half hour range. The fireworks cruises are much more expensive but you can't drive the boat yourself for those.

I appreciate all the feedback and the clarification on the boat rental price - I was panicking!! hee hee My kids will love the pool activities and wii set up!! Is this by the main pool or the one with the slide?

The activities are at the pool with the slide. Big Pine Key is the outer building closest to that pool....well, the other pool too.
