Calling all Fireman wives!!!

I work in a pediatrician's office and we don't usually start with the big run on sickness until about two weeks after school starts.

Now I know who I can come to when I have questions about different illnesses I hope the rest of the year is as illnesses free as the summer - but I know I am just fooling myself when I say that. The winter makes me very nervous because BabyKate has had RSV 2 years in a row and my Pediatrician said that she is extremely suceptible to it every year now. Last years RSV was a lot easier because she was 17 months, the first year she had it she was 3 months - very scary!!!

Well, I gotta run and make BabyKate some breakfast - talk to you soon!!

Hi eeyoresmountainpals!! How's everything by you? How's your kids doing? When do they start school?

My kids are doing real well. Stephanie starts 1st grade on Tuesday, Aug 23rd and I just can't believe that summer is over The upside about summer being almost over is that we are closer to going on vacation. We are leaving on Sept 15th and I can hardly wait . I have my itinerary all made out and every PS in order.

I can't remember what you said about you being on the FD. Are you volunteer of full time? And did you say that your DH is on the FD too? Is he volunteer of full time? My DH is volunteer, but he is taking it pretty slow right now because he has an injury to his neck that is trying to heal.

Here's a picture of me and my family last October at DH's FD open house. We always take a picture every year on the back of the firetruck.

Hi slo ~ Sorry for the delay in answering you! Our boys went back to school last Thursday (8/11)! It's early...but we always end up with so many snow days that we need to go back early. We always end up getting out late, too, usually around the 6th or 7th of June. The boys are settling in to school just fine. Matthew's in 6th grade, Andrew is in 8th and A.J. is in 10th. Our daughter's classes start next Monday. She's at UNC-Charlotte. - I'm sure Stephanie will enjoy first grade. That's such a great age!

Both my husband and I are volunteers with our fire department. He's been with the department for about 8 years and he's a crew chief. I've been with the department for a little over two years.

You must be so excited being under the 30 day mark for your vacation! We're almost at the 60 day mark but right now we're very concerned that we will not be able to get A.J. excused from school. They have gotten very strict on planned absences so we're in a holding mode right now. Please keep your fingers crossed for us!

I love the pic of your family on the fire truck!! Tell your DH to take it easy and not to over-do it!!!

DisneyDmbNut - I bet you are so excited about your cruise coming up. We are going to take a Disney Cruise in 2 years when the baby is 4yrs old - and I'm already excited about it

eeyoresmountainpals - Boy, your kids did go back to school early , I wish the kids didn't have to start school until after Labor Day.

I thought I remembered you saying that you both were volunteer fireman, and I was right - I give you so much credit!! It's hard enough being a mom and a fireman wife, I couldn't imagine being a fireman too. Good for you, your family must be very proud of you!!

We are very excited about leaving for vacation in a month - the kids can hardly wait!! I have my itinerary made and every PM is in place - we are ready to go!! I will keep my fingers crossed that your family can go too!!

I'm glad you feel welcome on this thread - it's nice to have a place to go here on the Dis where people know you I hope you continue to come by often!!
