Good morning! I am off work today. i got up & took the kids to school and even though I wanted to crawl back into my warm bed, I resisted & went to the gym. Then I paid bills, weighed in (not my best yet) and went to Wal Mart. I am now at home trying to get myself ready for the trip to Birmingham.

sandy - Good luck with your busy day!! We didn't get snow here (sigh). I am hoping I will be snow free as I go north thru the state to go to B'ham. As you can guess I have zero experience driving in the snow! The nice thing about snow here is that it generally doesn't last long.

I'll check in after we get home from the competition!

:surfweb:
It's 5:20am on a Saturday morning, and here I am posting :faint:
I'm up early, because I want to be at work by 7:00am - I have so much to do :faint: I wish, I wish, I wish, I had someone else with me that knew how to do things, so they could help me. Oh well, I'm not complaining about having business - I love that!!!! I'm just tired, and I'm getting more tired :faint: My job is very physical at times, and yesterday I didn't sit down one time between 10am - 7:30pm. Today will be more of the same :faint:

Karen - Be careful on your trip, and tell Emily good luck with her competition:wizard:
**How was Dirty Santa? What did you get?
**I saw how much rain you all had/have. Even Stephanie said to me, while watching the news/weather, "Mom, your friend in Alabama is getting a lot of rain!!!!" I hope you didn't have any flooding.

Well, now that the furnace has kicked in, and I've got some coffee in me, I should go get ready for work.
Have a great day today everyone!!!

I got a lot done yesterday, but not as much as I wanted to get done. I have 3 jersey's left to sew done, and 2 of them I already ordered the mats for a couple of weeks ago (I was waiting for the jerseys to return, because the customer needed to iron them), and when I went to sew them down, both the yellow mats have an orange stripe/line that went from the top to the bottom (something with production). I was so mad!!!!!:headache: Because now I can't start these things until Wednesday night (the new mats won't be in my door until Wed. afternoon), which throws everything off:mad: I get so mad when these companies send me unacceptable things:mad: This line is something that should have been noticed while they packaged these items. Well, there's no needed complaining, it's not going to change things. So instead of doing that, I sat at my very neglected desk, and did some organizing and paying bills. But, outside of the bad yellow mats, I was able to get a lot of other work done, which was a great thing!!!!

Today, we are going out to breakfast, going to the NW Indiana Visitors Center where they have things from The Christmas Story movie (including Santa on the mountain with the big slide - I"m hoping the line will not be to long for the girls to see him)(the movie was made in this area), and then we are going to the mall to finish our Christmas shopping. Then when we come home, we are doing a little baking, and then, if there's time, we'll watch The Polar Express - it's a very filled day!!!!:)

Well, I guess I should go get ready for the day - have a great Sunday!!!!!

Good morning all! We got home late last night - around 11pm! Emily's squad did not do well. They were 6th (out of 6). But looking at the whole picture, they weren't terrible. They had one stunt drop, one flyer didn't do her heel stretch and a couple of tumblers touched the floor with their hands. Not perfect, but not horrible. Sometimes it's good to lose, though. Maybe they will work harder! We still have several competitions left. No flooding here and no snow.
Today I am going to CCD with James. We are doing a family advent project. Emily will come down from her class, so we will all be together. I think she was hoping this meant she wouldn't have to turn in her paper on a saint, but I will make her go turn it in first! She is righting the paper as part of her Confirmation preparation.

sandy - I am glad you have business, but I am sorry you are getting worn out. I hope you have a great day today. My kids would love the big slide from Th Christmas Story. I have been thinking about watching the Polar Express with James. We had the Talk about Santa last year and he really wasn't ready to let go. I believe his response was "No." Maybe I could steal your idea and give him a silver bell. I think I will be sending you James' jersey neaxt year after his last year of football at the park. Of course he has been #90 since he was 5 (he was #62 when he was 4). i could just send you one of the other #90s. Send me some info on what you do and what you charge!! Also, when you are slow!

cb - how have you been?

It's a very very icy world around here :cold:
In fact, I'm sitting here with the phone by me, in case the school calls about a delay. My driveway is a pure ice skating rink, so I"m sure the roads are the same way. I'm sure the busses can handle it, but I don't know about all the highschool kids that drive - it'll be interested to see what happens.

That Christmas Story thing we went to was such a disappointment - I was expecting so much more. The girls didn't even want to wait to see Santa - I was so surprised:eek: We were there for maybe 20 minutes, and then we went to the mall. I got all the Christmas presents I needed at the mall, and then we came home. I baked my cookies, got a pizza, and then the girls and I watched The Polar Express on super surround sound - I love doing this!!!!:goodvibes It was a very productive and good day!!!!:)

Karen - I think James will treasure the bell, like I"m hoping Stephanie will. While watching the end of the movie last night, I explained about the bell, so she really understood what was going on in the movie, so her bell will be extra special this year:goodvibes I really paid attention to how the movie had it wrapped, and how "Mr. C" wrote his name, because I"m going to put some sort of note in the box. I can hardly wait to see her reaction when she gets it, because she knows the truth, but she's not ready to let this part of her childhood go :sad2:
**I'm sorry Emily's squad didn't do well:guilty: I hope Emily isn't to upset.
**How's Sarah? I bet she's glad to be home.
**How did the family advent project go? What Saint is Emily's paper about? I would love to learn more about the saints, and I may get some books about them this winter (I wonder if the library would have something like this).
**I would have to do James jersey with plexi glass, because I would be nervous to ship glass. It's hard for me to say a price until I have the final size, but it will be $250 and up. Anytime after Christmas will be a good time - let me know when you want it done, and what you want:) Thanks for thinking of me!!!!:goodvibes

Well, I'm off to wrap presents this morning.
Even though I'm working more than last year - I"m actually feeling a little more organized than last year - I like that!!!!! I want everything wrapped and done, so I'm not stressing to much when it gets close to Christmas Eve.

Have a good day!!!

Brrrrrrrrrr.........:cold:
That's all I can say right now, because it's only 6 degress!!!!!

The ice around here is just crazy!!!!!
I have so much ice in front of my store door, that I'm nervous about anyone walking on it. The landscape people put down salt, and I put down salt, but nothing will penetrate it - weird!!!!! Than, poor Kevin, had a terrible commute yesterday - it took him 2 1/2 hours to get to work:eek: That's how long it takes us to get to Indianapolis:eek: This time of year, with type of weather, just sucks for him:guilty:

Last night was the FD family Christmas party - it was great seeing everyone!!!. I love so many of the wives there, and I wish I could see them more. But with work, kids, life, we never get a chance to get together except for these type of events.

At work, this is the calm before the storm. I say that, because right now I have nothing to do, because I'm waiting for all my materials tomorrow and Thursday. At that time, I will have mountains to get done - especially 3 jersey's and now a shirt from Africa (which is pretty cool). This is going to be approx. a 57 hour work week for me :faint: As much as I love the business, and hope for more, I'm looking forward to Christmas so I can have a rest:)

Well, I gotta run and get this day started
Have a good day everyone!!!

:surfweb:
Katie woke me up at 3:45am and I couldn't go back to sleep - I'm tired!!!!
She went back to sleep right away - all she wanted was her music on

Well, I gotta get in the shower so I can drive Stephanie to school today. She has something going on with student council this morning, and she's afraid the bus will make her late.

Have a good day!!!

My routine is a little more normal today! I have been putting together and sending out teacher gifts and friends gifts each morning. The kids also have CRTs (exams) this week, so I cook them something for breakfast. Emi opted out this morning because she runs out of time (that's every day!) so I only cooked for 1. Sarah baked all the cookies for the teacher gifts for me which was great! She has also been wrapping and cleaning. I still have a little shopping to do. I have to finish up buying the Dirty Santa gifts for my family party. We have Jim's family get together Saturday. We have everything ready for that.

sandy - I have to admit I would love to play in the snow, but I don't hink I would like winter where you are! Brrrr!

sam - I love the picture!!! Sarah is working on our picture! I have the cards, I am just waiting on pics!!

Have a great day everyone!

:surfweb:
I feel like I'm moving in slow motion this morning. I think it's because I slept really well last night, which I needed after not sleeping well the night before. I need to start moving faster though, because I have alot to do before I leave for work today. Plus, I need to leave early so I can go buy a ton of gift cards at Dunkin Donuts for all the teachers. Lots to do today!!!

Karen - That's great that you are getting so much done:thumbsup2 . It sounds like Sarah is an awesome help to you - that's great:goodvibes !!!! I hope my girls will enjoy helping when they are older, like Sarah enjoys helping you.
**We have a family Christmas party this weekend too. We are going to my in-laws house for their extended family party. This is on Sunday, and I"m hoping I can make it, but I may have to work if I can't get caught up.

Okay, times up - gotta run!!!
Have a great day everyone!!!

Morning all! Today I will be passing out Christmas goodies at work. It has been very tense around there lately & dog gone it, I will force some Christmas cheer on them! :rotfl: :santa: Emily will pass out her cheerleader gifts today and then we are done with the big groups. I still need to pick up a few little things, but nothing overwhelming.

sandy - I hope you get all your work done so you don't miss the party! I will be on call, but if I have tons of patients to see, then I will work until the party and see the rest after.

Have a great day!

Hi! I havent been around because ive been so busy with work and christmas shopping. Im just starting to get really close to some people and make really good friends, but im leaving in 2 weeks! ahh! so soon! Today and tomorrow are actually my last days off of the program. That means I really have to start packing and decide what i want to ship home. I have sunday off as well, but my aunt and cousins are coming, so that is going to be our christmas together. Of course it figures that they come the day after all of my discounts end!:rotfl:

Enjoy the christmas season!
:santa:

Good morning! I feel yucky this morning. I am getting a cold! I will have a busy day at work and I am on call this weekend. Well, that's what medication is for!

sam - I can't believe it's time for you to go home! So overall, would you say this was a great experience? I am going to encourage Sarah to look into it. Can any degree do it? She is an education major.

sandy - How is work? Did you get the new supplies in for the jersies?

Today is the kids last day at school. I am glad because I'm sick of hearing "I hate school" in the morning. We are all ready for a break!

What an ICY ICY wonderland we are having right now.
Stephanie has no school today, so she is very excited about that.
Kevin went to work today, and I am very nervous about that (he has a small car and doesn't handle bad weather, especially ice, very well).
Katie's daycare is still open, and she is very happy about that, because her holiday party is today, and she really didn't want to miss that. I'm glad too, because I have a lot to do at work, and I don't want to listen to them both bicker all day.

It's actually very pretty outside, but I'm a little nervous about the power lines as more weight from the ice gets on them. The FD has already been called out for a down power line, and I'm wondering how many are to follow. If the electricity goes out, my work day is over, which will really put me behind schedule.

What are you all doing this weekend?
Tonight I am going to the town Christmas party (I wonder how many people will be there).
Tomorrow I work all day
Sunday I will go to work for awhile, and then we go to my inlaws for their extended family Christmas party.
So I have a busy weekend!!!!

Karen - I'm sorry you are starting to get a cold:guilty: Go get some Zicam today - that stuff really works!!! When I got my cold right before vacation, I got some, and it really made me better faster - now I swear by it!!!
**Yes, I did get replacement materials for the jerseys I have to do - now I just have to do them:rolleyes:
**I've officially fallen off the wagon this month with my food choices, and I'm feeling guilty. This is my worst time of year for watching my calories and fat, because I love all the Christmas treats. I haven't worked out either because I"m either getting to work early, leaving early to do errands, or doing lots of work around the house before I go to work. I'm sure I've gained a little weight, but I'm hoping that once Christmas is over, and I get back on track, that I will lose it. How are you doing with food this time of year? Have you been cheating? Please tell me that I'm not the only one.:upsidedow

Sam - OMGosh, wasn't it just yesterday that you got there!!!!! This just shows how fast time is flying:eek: Are you excited about going home, or do you wish you had more time there? Good luck with getting yourself packed and ready to go, and please have a safe trip home. Please let us know when you returned home:grouphug:

Well, I better get into the shower before/if we lose power.
Have a good day everyone:wave:

It's another very early Saturday morning :faint:
I'm really looking forward to next weekend when I can sleep in everyday!!!!!:yay: :woohoo:
I"m going to try to get to work again by 7am - that worked out really well last week. I love being able to wear my ipod while I"m working - I feel like I work a little faster when I have my workout music playing:thumbsup2
I'm praying for some decent business today, because this is the last weekend, in many weekends that I have the potential for good business. After Christmas, I will be dead dead dead until spring.

The Christmas party last night was okay. I got there right before they started to serve the food, so that was good, because I was starving, because I didn't eat any lunch yesterday. They had a really bad comedian after dinner, and then a really loud band after him - this is when we left. I don't mind loud music when I'm at a bar or a club, but not a function like this. When I can't have a conversation with someone, that's a huge problem with me. Plus, there's several retirees, and they don't want to listen to that either :sad2: I hope they get better entertainment next year.

Well, I better get ready for work - it's hard to get motivated when it's still dark out:rolleyes:
Have a good day today everyone!!!

sandy - how cool that ya'll have a town party!

Yes I am a holiday cheater!!! I tend to graze throughout every day! You are not alone!

hi!

I am very excited to get home and see my family, but im not looking forward to leaving. Especially the packing! I have so much stuff, im not sure whether I should ship it or pay for an extra bag on the plane! Im going to be a campus rep and I really enjoyed and would recommend the program.

So onto my hopefully good news!
Marc has been applying for a lot of jobs around california (anything above the grapevine) and he just took several tests and interviews for a department at an indian reservation in a nearby town. (nearby to our hometown) He got a call back asking him to take a drug test and background scan. Unfortunately he didnt hear what the woman said at the start of the phone call. He wasnt sure if he actually got the job or not. So after his drug test, which he was really worried about because he had just had a call involving a lot of secondhand pot smoke, they called him back to let him know he passed and they were just waiting on the background info to get back. So now we still dont know if this means they will offer him a job, but were crossing our fingers! He has pretty good hopes because usually people dont go through the hassle of drug tests etc, unless theyve got the job right? He just finished his internship and his firefighter 1 certifications, so if he doesnt get a job now, he was just going to get a crappy job for the meanwhile.

I really hope he gets the position, but the town is far away from where we are now. 1 hour from our home town, and total 4 1/2 hours from Davis (where we live now). I have no clue what we would do, but I cant leave school and its so far away. Its kinda stressing me out a little, but i still want him the get the job.

What do you guys think? Do you think this means he basically got it? Im assuming he wont find out until monday or so when results from the background test are in.

Merry Christmas!
Sam

It's a whopping -6 degrees outside this morning :cold:
Not only is it cold, but it's also very windy :cold:
Poor Sophie was shivering so bad, that she could barely go to the bathroom:guilty:
The trees in the forest, are all creeking so bad. Everything around here has tons of ice on it, and with all this wind, we are waiting for trees/tree branches to start cracking and breaking, power lines to start falling, and etc. It's not good weather around here at all!!!!!:sad2:

Today we are going out into the frozen tundra to my inlaws house. They are having their extended family Christmas party today :santa: The girls are very excited to get their first Christmas presents:woohoo: It should be a nice day, it's just to bad that it's so cold :cold:

Karen - The town Christmas party is not for the whole town, it's for the employees of the town. It would be awesome if it were for the whole town, because then I would be able to see and visit more people that I know :)

Sam - That's great about Marc passing his internship, and I hope he gets on a fire department, preferably one close to home:wizard: I think it's great that he's trying to find other work too, so he has a job no matter what happens, I'm just sorry that it's so far away:guilty: I would think that a drug test would mean he's got the job, but who knows:confused: Whatevery happens, I just hope everything works out for you both :grouphug:
**Good luck with packing and traveling home :wizard: When do you get home?

Well, I"m off to start some laundry:laundy:
Have a good day today everyone!!

Good morning all! It is about 28 degrees here today. Two days ago it was in the 70's. I love our weather! I am glad it looks like it will be cold for Christmas. We have many memories that involve shorts on Christmas day.

sandy - Much clearer now - I was thinking it was either a really BIG party or that your town was smaller than I had pictured! How was your party yesterday?

sam - I don't hink they would drug test him if they weren't very serious. What is their schedule like? Jim does 24 on, 48 off. If the schedule were similar, that might help. Is it 4 1/2 hours each way?

Jim is having back problems. I don't know how this will turn out. He has spent the last 36 hours in bed. Everytime he would try to get up he would end up on the floor. Then it takes about an hour to get him back up. He was able to struggle up for a bit this morning. I am going to call the MD office and hope they will call in medicine - we borrowed this weekend (thanks mom). He wouldn't be able to get to the car to try to go in for a visit. We'll see.....

It's another day of COLD!!!!!:cold:
We've been at below zero now for over 24 hours
My poor puppy is so cold outside, that she can barely stop shaking to go potty. She has a had time walking on the cold ground, and has to lift her paws alot to get some relief. I do put a sweater on her, but she would never tolerate anything on her feet. After she goes potty she runs towards the front door like she's saying "let me in! let me in!!!"

Karen - I had no idea it ever got that cold there. I thought you always had shorts weather. Will it get warmer for you today, or is it staying that cold all day?
**Poor Jim!!!!!:guilty: I've never had back problems, but my mom has, and I know how she suffered. So many hugs to him  and I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers to get better soon :wizard: :wizard: Please keep me posted on how he is doing.

Well, it's time to get ready for work
Have a great day everyone!!!

Good morning!

sandy - poor Sophie! Are your girls counting down? I loved your Christmas picture. All 3 girls are too cute!

Our weather never stays too cold for long. I think we may be back in the 60s by Christmas.

Jim is still confined to bed. He may try to move to the living room today - we'll see! Thank goodness for family and friends!!

I am counting down to Christmas. We are going to work a half day Wednesday and be off Thursday & Friday (plus the weekend). I am going to work Sunday for the nurse who is on call because she will work Friday and Saturday and she is going out of town with her family Sunday. She was going to leave after working, but I am going to work so she can leave earlier. This is our newest nurse Suzanne. She & i worked together at the doctor's office and I let her know when we had an opening where I am now.
I wrapped some presents last night. I can't put many under the tree anymore because Sarah the Super Guesser will know what all of her presents are!

I am off to check on JIm! HAve a great day and stay warm!
