It got cold here last night, but not as cold as I originally thought it would. It is currently 43 degrees here :cold: I hate this cold weather!!! I wish it would get warm and stay warm!!!!!

Karen - I'm glad you didn't have to work to much on Memorial Day, and you could still enjoy yourself with your family :goodvibes I need to still go see Prince Caspian, I'm hoping to do that sometime this week (fingers crossed).
**Good for Emily for getting a babysitting job - that'll be nice money for her!!!:)

Kimba - How fun to be in the parade!!! Our FD wasn't in any parades for Memorial Day.
**I always wait for the park hours before making my ADR's, because I need to see Spectromagic, and we are doing the Halloween party, so I needed to plan my ADR's around both of those. Kevin and I decided to let the kids do the Pirate Adventure, so I need to call and book that for the girls. Stephanie is very excited about this, because she did it 4 years ago, but Katie has never done it before, so this will be a new experience for her :)
**We love the CRT for breakfast, and have done it 4 times now:goodvibes The girls would love to do it again this year, but I told them not this year. My friend and I are toying around with taking our girls in June for an all girls trip, and we'll probably go then :thumbsup2

Well, I'm off to bundle up and go walking - I'm going to try to get 4 miles in this morning.
Have a good day today everyone!!!

:surfweb:

I had such a hard time getting up this morning - I could have slept and slept!!!

Well, I'm off to start the day
Later gaters!!!

good morning!!

sandy - I know how you feel! Some mornings are tough!

kimba - My 19 yo will still go to the princess breakfast if I would take her!! :rotfl: I was just telling Emi yesterday that if we take her friend Lila with us on another trip, we should eat at the castle so Lila could meet Belle in her gown.

So , I think I am going to join Weight Wathchers. Any opinions? It will probably be me, James, my mom, and maybe Haley (niece) and one of my sisters. Mom & I were already planning on Tuesday morning, Then the FD called - Jim went to the hospital with chest pain. He spent the night & got out yesterday. His heart was fine (no blockage, etc...) great BP and HR. We do have to follow up with a cardiologist becaus ehe had some funny stuff on his EKG. They mostly just said lose weight. So I guess it was good timing. He won't go to meetings at WW, so he would just do the program at home. I would welcome any info - good or bad!

Have a great day all!

You gotta love Fridays!!!! :cool1:

Karen - I don't have any opinion of Weight Watchers, because I've never done it. I do know people that have, and they were happy. I would go on The Wish board, and ask there, those DISers would be happy to give you some great opinions :)

Kimba - How's everything going with the Chiropractor? I hope you are feeling better :wizard:

Well, I gotta run
Have a good day today everyone!!!

Good Morning!!

I've had a crazy few days. This past Saturday my dog (my Doberman, Greta) woke up favoring her right paw. Well we figured she just sprained it. Well by Tuesday morning she couldn't stand without my help! She needed help down the steps and wouldn't eat. By Wednesday morning, she was shaking so bad and couldn't stand or sit with out me helping her. So we took her to the vet. Turns out she has Lyme's disease and another type of tick disease.
Thankfully we got her there in time and she should have no permanent damage. She's on heavy antibiotics. I had no idea that Lyme's disease symptoms would appear so quickly and severely! She has been on Advantix for over a year now. Apparently it doesn't work on all ticks:confused:
She seems to be much better today. I knew something was wrong when the UPS man could come to our house and she just barked from where she was lying - she just couldn't get up. And that is SO not her!! My UPS guy is afraid of her because she is always such a presence at the door;)

Karen
- It's funny that you mentioned your 19 yr old wanting to still do the Princess meal. My 16 yr old is mad because I won't let her dress up:rotfl: I told her that she may look a little too much like the "real" princesses and Disney doesn't like that. I think she's ok with it now. The girls' dance recital is Disney themed and both girls get to dress as Pirates. But Kayla gets to also be the Genie from Aladdin and Tink!! She is so thrilled!!
- A former co-worker of DH's was big into Weight Watchers. It really helped her alot. She looks great (So great, that she decided to leave her husband:sad2: ). But anyway....I say go for it!! It may be just the thing!!
- How scary about your husband!! I bet your blood pressure wasn't normal after that!! I'm glad he was ok:hug:

Sandy - It's going slow with the chiropractor. It's my fault. I need to go 3 times a week but with dance, fire school and boy scouts...it's just not happening. I can start that in mid June though. When I left my last visit I felt great, then I did the exercises he gave me and I was in agony!! I have a feeling it will be a slow process. I knew that though because my case is so severe. Thanks for asking!!

Well I'm off to go wake up the kiddos!!
Have a great day!!
Kim

Hi everyone!

I dont have much time because I have my last midterm this morning and then finals next week. But at least im feeling very confident about my classes! Im also very excited that were going home this weekend and I get to see my mom! Im even going to be cutting my hair for the first time in about...6 years. Its going from my waist to my shoulders!:scared1:

Marc just passed his physical agility test and took his national registry exam. Hes waiting for his rresults, but said he only had to take 70 questions. Supposedly the more wrong answers you give, the more questions they ask and it can go up to 200. Also, his dad actually ran into the bat. chief of visalia(our hometown) and the man said that Marc can meet with him this weekend and they will practice interviewing tips, etc. I think thats pretty awesome of a complete stranger.

This is random, but in my hometown a couple of weeks ago, a 16 year old boy went on a joy ride with the fire engine from a scene! Marc decided he wont bring that up when visiting the station.

Im glad everyone is feeling well.

Kimba- It seems that youve been having a busy week regarding dogs. I very glad that you caught the disease in time. Last year I left for college and my cat was deprressed. Then got worse and stopped cleaning, my parents took him to the vet hospital one night after he started breathing wierd. He had feline leukemia and was put down. What they thought was depression wasnt. It makes me so relieved that you were able to catch this in time before it progressed.

Morning all! I am up & about to go see a patient. Call hasn't been bad this weekend. Jim was home yesterday and it looks like he will be today! :woohoo:

celticblue - Are you through with exams now?

kimba - how is your dog? Will she be up and chasing the UPS guy soon?

slo - are you out working in your yard this weekend? Jim planted some stuff yesterday & dug up some big azaleas he didn't want. I would be willing to bet money taht he will find somethign else out there to do today! He'll make a project if he has to!!

The kids are so excited, because they may be able to use the pool today!!!! :cool1: I"m not sure if I'm going to go in :scratchin, it all depends on how warm it actually gets around here :sunny:

Kimba - I'm so sorry to hear about your dog :( I know how scary it is when you see something wrong with your dog, and there's nothing you can do, but get them to the vet. I"m so glad that Greta is going to be okay :dog: As I was reading, I was scared on what the ending was going to be - I was releaved when it was a good ending.
**I understand how fitting in the Chiropractor is difficult. I've been to physical therapy twice (one for my neck, and once for my knees) and it was very difficult getting it to fit into my schedule. Hopefully it will all start working out, so you can start feeling better soon :wizard:

CB - How did your midterm go? I hope it went well :)
**Have fun visiting your mom, and getting your hair cut
**Congrats to Marc :woohoo:

Karen - I just realized I never commented on Jim  How is he doing now? I bet that was so scary for all of you  I worry about this happening to Kevin all the time, because he needs to lose weight also ::yes:: Kevin is currently on thyroid mediciane because his thyroid is barely working, which explains his weight, and being tired all the time.
**I basically done with everything in the yard :woohoo: The only thing that is left is getting the pool deck in order. We need to put all the furniture up there, and I need to put all the pots that I planted up there too. Once that's done, I'm done!!!! :yay:

Well, I'm off to get some breakfast made
Have a good day today everyone!!!

Hi all!!

I am happy to report that Greta is doing MUCH better. :cool1: She does overdo it alot and ends up needing to nap and rest longer but at least she jumps up to bark and was able to take a short walk. We bought her a new dog bed yesterday and she is so happy with it! We still have a long way to go with the medicine but at least things look positive now.

DD16 got to go to her first Motor Vehicle call last night. Luckily it wasn't bad - so not graphic. Which is good, kind of eases her into it. She got to ride in the fire truck to the call. She was so excited! Normal she rides in the rescue truck.

Sandy - I'd love a pool right about now! It's so hot here today! Of course it would have to be screened in because the strawberry flies are awful!! Soon it will be the green heads:(

Celticblue - Wow!! To your shoulders!! I hope it won't be too much of a shock. I did that ONCE..never again!! Maybe you'll have better luck and actually love it! I'm sure you did well on your tests, when do you find out how you did? Congrats to Marc too!!

Karen
- How nice to have your DH home with you this weekend. Is he feeling well??

Gotta run and cook dinner. Stupid me thawed a turkey to cook on a lovely 86degree day :sad2:

Have a great day!!
Kim

You should see how sunburned Kevin and I both are (especially Kevin). We totally underestimated what the sun would do to us yesterday. Luckily I got sunscreen on the girls before they fried too :sunny:

I just couldn't stop looking at the back decks last night after the girls were done swimming. It's so nice to see all the furniture out, and flowers planted - it really does say that summer is finally here!!!!!:sunny:

Kimba - I'm so glad Greta is doing better :dog: That is very good news!!!!
**How exciting for your DD!!! Stephanie would love to do something like that when she is 16, but our town doesn't do anything like this :(

Well, I gotta go and get my but outside for walk/run
Have a good day today everyone!!

After a terribly crappy winter, it's finally hot enough around here to put the AC on :woohoo:

I had to put it on at the store, because it faces West, and that late afternoon sun made it stifling hot in there. I really didn't want to put it on, but I didn't want any customers getting ticked off because it was 85 in there.

Then when I got home, it was well over 80 degrees in the house. Kevin and I agreed that it was time to put it on, because we wouldn't be able to sleep if we didn't. So, we are giving the AC a try, and it's working great!!!! :thumbsup2

Today is mine and Kevin's 13 year wedding anniversary :) It's so hard to believe that we've been married for 13 years now - time flies by so fast!!!!! We aren't doing anything today, because I have to work until 7pm, but we are celebrating all weekend by going downtown - it'll be great!!!!!:goodvibes

Well, I gotta run and go workout (inside today)
Have a good day today everyone!!!

sandy - Congratulations on your anniversary!! I am glad you are finally getting plenty of warm weather! Our AC has been running for quite awhile! How is your sunburn?

I am going to work late today. Jim has his followup appt with the cardiologist and I want to go with him. I don't think he would ask a single question! Oh, the chief called the day he was in the hospital & said he would be getting the pilot position!! He still has to do all his paperwork with the Coast Guard, but they are holding the spot for him!
James' last game was last night. We ended up in 2nd place! I am glad the season is over. He would love to be asked to play Allstars, but I don't know if that will happen. We'll see! Emily is doing well at the new gym. I am so impressed by this place!! SHe is in the flyer group - even though she didn't want it!! I think she likes it. A friend of mine asked if I wanted to take a belly dancing class this summer! I told her I was joining W.W. and she figured this could be exercise. Truth be told I think she doesn't want to go alone. I think Emily is going to come, too! It should be funny if nothing else!!!

Have a great day everyone!!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY SANDY!!!
I hope you had a great day!!! I've been toying with the idea of turning the AC on in here too. It was 86 in here at one point. But we are trying to save money and want to see how long we can go. I HATE the heat!! It makes for one miserable Kimba:rotfl: So we'll see how long that lasts!!

Karen - I hope your DH makes out well at the Dr. pixiedust:
My DS wants to take gymnastics. Well he THINKS he does. He loves jumping and flipping on the trampoline and wants to learn more stuff. I assuming your DD is in gymnastics because you mentioned "Flyer Group" - hope that's a correct assumption! Any way if I am correct does she have many boys in her class?? DS is 13.
Belly dancing class sounds fun!!! I would love for me and my DDs to do that!! I hope you like it!!

I have to take my oldest DD (Kayla) to the Dr. today. She has been sick since Saturday night! Last night was the first night since Saturday that she didn't throw up! Of course she ate NOTHING yesterday because she was afraid she's throw up. We just want her checked out to make sure nothing else is going on. The girls have recital practice Friday night and all day Saturday so she really wants to feel better!

Gotta run and wake up the kiddos!!
Kim

OMgosh - what a stormy, loud, exhausting evening :faint:
We were in the basement until after 11pm, and since Kevin was out of town for work, both the girls were in bed with me. Between me listening at the storm, to make sure it wasn't turning into anything worse, listening for the tornado siren again, getting kicked and slapped in the face by Katie, I got very very little sleep last night :faint: Normally when Kevin is home, the girls sleep on the floor, but they really wanted to be in the bed, so I said, okay. Last night, was not a good night :sad2:

I had a good day off yesterday until the storms last night. I went and got my first pedicure of the season, and then got a lot done around the house - it was great!!! Then my mom came over, and after STephanie came home from school we went and got Katie, and went shopping and out to dinner. For the first time in my mom's life, she closed the mall down - she's never done that before. I got alot accomplished - Stephanie got alot of new summer clothes, Katie got a new bathing suit, I got Kevin's Fathers Day gift, a birthday gift for family friends child, and other things - it was a successful adventure!!!!!:thumbsup2

Thanks to all the wished us a happy anniversary :goodvibes I'm really looking forward to this weekend, when we get to spend alot of time together downtown Chicago. We are going out to dinner, and then going to see Blue Man Group - it'll be a great night!!!!! :goodvibes

Karen - How did everything go with Jims Cardiologist? Also, congrats to Jim on getting the pilots position - that is very awesome news!!!!! :woohoo:

Kimba - I'm sorry to hear about Kayla not feeling well. I'll send tons of PD your way for her to feel better soon :wizard:

Well, I gotta go get Stephanie up for her last day of school
It won't be easy, because she didn't get much sleep either
Have a good day today!!!

sandy - I am sorry you had a bad night! It's great that you got so much done yesterday!! I know Steph is excited about the last day of school!

kimba - how is Kayla?

celticblue -how did finals go?

JIm's appt with the cardiologist went well. His echo was normal. They want him to start taking one baby aspirin every day (they rec. this for all men over 40). He did give him a 15 lb. wght loss goal for 3 months. Jim was offended!! He knows he will lose more. I told him they are trying to have him make long lasting lifestyle changes so the weight won't come back!

I had the first WW meeting last night. I liked it. They break your weight loss goal into smaller pieces which is great. I will go grocery shopping Friday and get lots of stuff for us. You don't have to buy a bunch of prepackaged stuff, they give you a point calculator. Wish me luck!!

Hi All!!

So here's what we found out at the Doctors. First, we asked about her knees. She has been in terrible pain for over a year now. We have been thinking it was growing pains or maybe juvenile arthritis. The Dr thinks it may be patello femoral syndrome. She had to get x-rays yesterday to make sure. He said it can be treated, which is good because she loves dancing.

Next, the sickness for 4 days. The Dr thinks she maybe hypoglycemic. She has to go for the 3 hour glucose test. (YUCK!!!) plus they will be doing other tests on her blood.

She is so scared. She has never had blood taken and can't stand the sight of blood. It was her first time for x-rays yesterday too. I talked her through it all - I've had thousands of them:rotfl2: I've also had tons of bloodwork taken and told her what to expect. That didn't make it any easier for her.:worried:

Currently I am treating her like she has hypoglycemia and I will be taking precautions for the dance recital and the long practices for it. That child is going to eat!! She goes for her blood test on Monday. I pray she does ok.

Sandy We had bad storms last night too!! We had a tornado watch for a while. We don't have any kind of warning siren either. It's pretty scary - not having a real warning.
Sounds like you are going to have a great Anniversary weekend!!

KarenGlad to hear your DH's trip to the Dr went well!! I'm also glad to hear that you enjoyed the WW meeting!! Good luck with it!!

I'm off to make my shopping list. It's shopping day. I am SO not in the mood today.

Have a good day all!!
Kim

:surfweb:

I got such a great nights sleep last night :) I really needed it!!!! ::yes::

Karen - Stephanie was very excited about her last day of school :hyper: I'm excited that I don't have to battle with her, to get her out the door, w/o missing her bus:hyper: I LOVE SUMMER!!!! :cool1:
**I'm glad Jim's cardiologist appt went well:) Was Jim offended because he was told to lose weight, or because the doctor didn't give him a bigger number to lose?
**I'm glad your WW meeting went well last night:) How many points did they give you? I may ask you once in awhile what something is on your points chart, if you don't mind. Did you know Lean Cuisines have WW points written on the box? If you've never had these, they are very tasty!! :thumbsup2

Kimba - I feel so bad for you poor DD:( I understand the knee pain - I deal with that everyday. How can her knees be treated if that is the problem? Speaking of the problem - what is it?? I also feel bad for her that she has to be tested for hypoglycemia :( I hope it all goes well for her, and that you get the answers you need:wizard: Please keep us posted!!!!
**You have no warning sirens  How scary!!!:scared1: We have several in our town, and when they go off, you know to head to the basement!!!

Well, I gotta get going so I can workout this morning (I've gone 2 days w/o working out, and I get myself sweating :) ) Its so windy outside, so I don't know if I'm going out or not (I hate wind).

Have a good day today everyone!!!

sandy - Jim was offended by the number!! He knows he can lose more! I told him the important thing to the doctor is changing his habits which will equal weight loss. James actually told me that Lean Cuisine already had the points! He's a great label reader! I will be happy to give you the points on anything! I am going to buy the book for eating out, too.

kimba - I will keep your DD in my thoughts and prayers!

I am glad it is Friday and I am not on call this weekend! Talk to ya'll later!

Hi there - quick post this morning!!!

I have a lot to do before we leave - pack, finish packing the girls, water the flowers, go to work, and a couple other things - I need to do this before 11am :faint:
That's okay though - I'm excited to have a good weekend!!!! :cool1:

Karen- I wish both you and Jim lots of luck with losing weight:wizard: Try to not get frustrated in the beginning, because it's easy to, because you want to see results right away. But remember, the slower you lose it, the slower you put it back on - so slow losing is a great thing :thumbsup2 Are you and Jim going to start any type of workout program too? I'm starting to wonder what I'm going to do in the winter when I don't want to go out and walk anymore :scratchin I'm not sure if I should workout at home, or if I should join a gym :scratchin Decisions, decisions!!!!!:)
**Have a good weekend not being on call!!!! :yay:

Kimba - How's your DD doing today???? I hope she's feeling better.

Well, I gotta get outside and water my flowers :flower:
Have a good day weekend everyone!!!
