My family and I are visiting DL in 13 days. I am a WDW vet and an extreme planner. Due to a busy schedule, I haven't had time to really plan the details of our vacation. We are staying at the Anaheim Marriott and will be at the parks for 3 days. We are trying to remain budget conscious, so I'm looking for inexpensive counter service ideas for both parks. Any other budget ideas are welcomed, as we will be in Southern California for two weeks. Oh, and by the way, this will be my family's first time visiting DL.

Check out allears.net for a list of restaurants and menus. I had to hunt around to find DLR info, as they start out with WDW info. But, it is there. They list it by PS and counter service and list the menu and prices. I was checking it out yesterday and was amazed at how many of the eating places we have missed in our previous trips to DLR.

I would also check out the sticky thread by Hydroguy at the top of this forum, Hydroguys tips compilation. It has a couple of threads in there specifically about the difference between WDW and DL, and how best to do DL. Very helpful! :thumbsup2

Don't overlook some of the sit down restaurants.

Instead of getting two luke warm bacon cheeseburgers for $17 at a CS place, My wife and I go to Cafe Orleans.

We each get a salad & a cup of soup and split an order of pommes frites. The total is $21 before tax.

my suggestion is to take a few hours just experiancing the park..stop every once in awhile to sit back and enjoy Walts handy work...

At DCA, Corn Dog Castle is great, also check out the CS at the end of the Boudin Bread tour. Clam chowder in a bread bowl, YUM!

At DL, get a turkey leg in Frontier Land or check out Le Bat en Rouge in New Orleans square. Cafe Orleans is also great.

I agree with above posters. I would also add in Cocina Cucamunga in DCA and Rancho Del Zocalo in DL, both have very similiar items on menu, Mexican food, and is very good in my opinion. My oldest son is very picky when it comes to any food and he enjoys both of these restarants.

Antoher 2 in DL that I would suggest: Red Rockets Pizza Port (RRPP) in Tomorrowland-pizzas, salad, and pastas. Large servings, tasty. And the other French Markey in NOS, they are closed until Thursday I believe, redoing their menu, be sure to check the link from PP in a few days for a hopeful updated menu. If they will still be serving the beef stew in a bread bowl, I highly recommend it.:thumbsup2

Have a great trip:wizard: !!

my Advice,

Breakfast (outside the park)
Lunch (in the park)
Dinner (Outside the park)

you'll find plenty of places near Anaheim to eat.
this is provided your have a car,

if your going to eat inside I'd suggest the Pizza Port, buying a whole pizza if you have kids, and splitting drinks :)

Have fun.

Rudy

We like to share meals, we feel the portions are large at both counter service and table service. Then if you are still hungry, there is plenty to try. We were sad not to ever get to Bengel BBQ after everyone said how great it was and it DID look and smell soooo good! Looks like a great snack.
The one thing I was shocked about if you are a WDW veteran, the prices are higher so take that into account. We brought a lot of snacks and our own waters in which helped.
Have a great trip!!

Don't forget to save room for Dole Whips! Carnation Cafe on Main Street is a good choice for a sit-down restaurant, especially if you can time it during the parade! We did that about a month ago and it was great. You can make a PS reservation for it, if you are worried about the timing.

Something that really cracks me up is the fact that everybody mentions Whitewater Snacks but no one ever mentions Croc Bits and Bites. The only real difference is at Crocs they don't serve breakfast. The rest of the food is the same and if you are a grown up you can et the food at the Lost Bar.

WWS is a lot more convenient to the parks than Crocs is. It would take me a lot longer to walk to the DLH than to hit WWS while I just happen to be in DCA. Plus, I enjoy spending time in the GCH lobby as a break during a busy day. But it's good to know the food is the same at both. :goodvibes

Good point I hadn't thougth about in that way. We usually get a late dinner there when we stay at the DLH.

Wow, Thanks!!! I hadn't thought about Allears.net. I did some homework (aka planning) last night, printed off some menus, and now just need to make some decisions. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems the counter service restaurants at DL have more variety than WDW. It makes it a little more difficult to decide where to eat. I know that we will definitely be eating breakfast at the Marriott as it came complimentary with our reservation. Now to just decide on snacks, lunch, and dinner. :confused3

WWS is open for anything BUT breakfast?

OK in theory I know that b/c people talk about their nachos. But I've only been there for b'fast, and it was soooooooooo good. :)

Don't forget La Brea Bakery in Downtown Disney. Great place to grab a quick breakfast
