I realize that crowds have been unpredictable and quite crazy this year... and I used to think that I was somehwhat of a crowd expert myself, but I'm totally clueless now!

I was originally planning on going Dec. 14-17 or Jan. 4-7

But my dates are really flexible and I want to go when Disneyland is least crowded.

So, my question is... between November 1 and January 7... which week(s) do you think would be the least crowded?

Thank you! :thumbsup2

I don't know if anyone can predict crowds this year, the trends really don't match up with past years. It's really just a guessing game. Personally, I would take a good look at the AP black out dates and make my decision based on that and past year trends. Go here for black out dates http://www.mouseplanet.com/misc.php?pg=blackout

Good luck!

Like you said, crowds are very unpredictable.

I can only say what I have experienced. I have been the week before Christmas and the crowds were manageable. I went the first week of January and the park was BUSY!

Off topic but where is that picture of the princesses going up the escalator in your signature from? That is too cool!

Thanks! I have been studying that blackout calendar :rotfl: But I realized that it's only blocked out for locals when it's guaranteed that the parks will be busy (eg. Christmas week) so... :confused3

The first week of January was busy huh? :scratchin

I know that this last year has been unpredictable, but I would think that Jan 4th through the 7th would not be bad. This is typically the time when hotel rates are low, since everyone just crammed in to DLR for the last few days due to new years. Kids are going back to school. I would imagine that you can probably get a good rate and the parks will be slow. But remember that Haunted Mansion and Small world will be closed to remove the holiday overlay.

We are planning on going Jan 3-7. Weird times but I have now decided I never ever want to be here on a weekend or end of a week again. So we are coming down on Sunday and leaving on Wed or Thursday. We have been here this week. Started Wed and are actually leaving a day early because crowds have gotten increasingly worse all week.

CM's have said they have never seen anything like this and some I have talked to have been here ten or more years.

I have been in DL the week before Christmas for my birthday (dec. 17th) and it has been REALLY busy. Take note that the last time we did this was 3 years ago.

Jan. shouldn't be too bad. It's usually the coldest month and I know some friends of mine (AP Holders) don't go because of the weather.

The first week of december is a pretty good time to go and you get to see the decorations.

We like early Dec, we go around mid month due to DDs bday, we also like the beginning of Jan, this year we went the 3-8th for DBFs bday. :) Crowds are generally lower for both times, the only thing we really worry about is the weather. :)

Thanks everyone for the replies. I really do appreciate each one! :goodvibes

I got to thinking and might be able to go Nov 12 - 16, but that IS over the weekend :scared: ...but I thought that since SoCal APs are blocked out the 14th that it would be better than Dec 14-17 or Jan 4-7 :confused3 ...but maybe not... I DUNNO!
