Calling all Creationists!

Are you a creationist FOR SURE?

  • Yup!

  • Nope!

I am a creationist in that I believe that God created the heavens and the earth as it says in the Bible. However, I don't believe that the creationist date of the earth being approx. 10,000 years old is necessarily correct. I don't believe we really know how old the earth is.

I'm in the camp of, "I don't know how old the earth is, and I don't care".

Meaning someone who disbelieves in evolution etc.

Eh, while I believe creationism in it's entirety, I also believe certain parts of Darwin's theory are correct. Survival of the fittest, and all that. I believe some things survived because they were able to adapt. OTOH, I don't think species morph into a completely different species.

I am not a literalist. I don't believe in the inerrant truth of the Bible.
I'll go a step further and say that most people don't -even many who claim to.
The Bible is full of contradictions and things that are difficult to interpret it is almost impossible to believe in every word it says.

I believe in God, I believe that Jesus Christ Died for me -but I don't get too het up about creationism.

I believe in The Creation, but I also believe in microevolution. I don't believe in Macroevolution.

I mean if we adapted from apes then why are there still apes? We adapted from other humans to be taller, stronger, smarter, etc.

I'm a logical Christian. I believe in evolution. I do believe that God created everything. I just believe that Adam and Eve were definitely Monkeys who came after the dinosaurs didn't work out so well....

Science is all about facts, and evolution is full of facts. The Bible is about the truth, and is full of truths that enrich our lives. When evolution suggests Jesus didn't die for my sins, I'll worry about evolution.

I agree. I believe in the ability of species to adapt, but not to become entirely new species.

I fully believe in Creation by God - who is smart enough to give his creation the abality to adapt to changing environmental stimulii. What idiot would think that an all powerful creator would be so stupid as to be unable to give his creation the ability to adapt? All species can adapt on a micro level, but I have still yet to see proof of large scale macro-evolution (Where are the transitional species? Why do replaced species still exist?)

Interesting...lots of differing opinions from different Christians. My thinking is, if you guys all, once and for all, sat down and decided on one book to follow, you all could get on board with the same story...;)

I think that the evidence strongly supports evolution as the best explanation for the diversity of species we have today. And there is a great deal of evidence. Until I see evidence of a better theory, evolution makes sense to me. I don't believe in God, so couldn't possibly believe in creationism.

But where would the fun be in that??? ;)

We were dropped here by aliens. The whole "Jesus", "Moses and the burning bush", and all the other religions are a product of the aliens trying to get us humans to stop acting like idiots.
They keep sending more signs but we are too stupid to comprehend it.

Starting to think Scientology is the way to go.:lmao:

Well said.

I am a creationist in that I believe God created the heavens and the earth by speaking it into existance. I believe God created man (not apes who later turned into man) from the dust of the ground. I believe he did it in 6 days. Yes, 6 24 hour periods.

I'm not a creationist, but when I was in Catholic school we were taught about evolution, and that Genesis is an allegory but not literal. There's no reason to believe god couldn't have started everything with that Big Bang.

We didn't evolve from apes. Humans and apes evolved from a common ancestor.

I believe in science and evolution. I have Christian beliefs but I don't believe in the literal creation story. It puzzles me that so many people can ignore the scientific facts, but I chalk that up to another mystery of life.

It especially puzzles me that some people try the "if man came from apes why are there still apes?" line. It shows me that there are a lot of folks out there who don't understand the science and aren't willing to educate themselves.

I thought they had:

From your cite
Scientists believe this common ancestor existed
5 to 8 million years ago. Shortly thereafter, the species diverged into two separate lineages. One of these lineages ultimately evolved into gorillas and chimps, and the other evolved into early human ancestors called hominids.

A belief is not a fact, it is a belief. Same as those that do not believe it.

I don't care for the choices in the poll. I support and intellegent design concept that involves both creationism and evolution.

I believe in both creation and evolution. I had years of geology classes and nothing I learned in those classes conflicted with any religious belief I hold.
