calling all crafters!

My friends and I have decided to do a bi-weekly craft night from September to November. Everyone will bring their own projects to work on and we'll ust have a good time.

SO now I need to know what crafts to do What are you making this year? What have you made in the past that you really enjoyed?

Any ideas would be appreciated!

I would love this information also. My church wants to do a craft night and most of my ideas you need a sewing machine, which many do not have or don't want to drag along.

For me it is getting together with a friend and we scrap book and scrap book!
But several years ago we were getting together for craft night we did homemade paper in presses and then painted them
Bees wax molds, cookie exchange, dry cookie mix jars for gifts
Home made wrapping paper, gift cards etc...

spinning has some really good ideas. and they could be used for christmas gifts!! personally i am hand making a quilt. but that would take alot longer than you have planned.
why dont you go to a craft store and get those free craft papers? the ones that tell you how to do it. and do those. i am homeschooling my DS this year and those are what we are using for our art projects. some are really cute and will work for either christmas/birthday gifts or as holiday decorations. i try to keep it with the season or theme of what we are learning at the time.
i wish you luck. this sounds like sooo much fun. my friend and i made cookie tins together every christmas till i moved. i miss doing those.

I have a friend who's into making her own bead jewelry. So far she's done earrings and bracelets (really cute! beads, and little charms hanging down). I think you can find out how to make these online, and you should be able to find the supplies in a craft store. Here, we even have a dedicated bead store!

This friend is very creative and resourceful, she also recycles any used buttons, material, cellophane, ribbon, etc., and she'll get used containers and boxes and decorate them. Last year, for Xmas she got an old Costco chocolate covered raisin container and decorated the lid with material and ribbon and beads, baked differnet kinds of cookies sealed with those do-it-yourself sealers, and put them in the container.

I've done hat boxes and photo albums. For the hat boxes, I found a pattern at a craft store, and followed the instructions. It can be time-consuming though. For the photo albums, I just got cheap albums, material, cotton padding, two thin pieces of cardboard to cover the inside of the covers, and a glue gun and scissors. It's one of those things I figured out how to do myself though, no pattern.

I am also into rubber stamping/embossing and making my own cards, when I have the time!

I really love doing cross stitch. They come in many cute patterns and are made for different levels of ability. Now I'm working on a birth record, and I'm also partly done Cinderella's castle which is a lot more difficult and detailed. I'll soon be starting a wedding sampler for DS and future DDIL who are getting married March 1.

Making jewelry would be fun, also small cross stitch projects. A fun Halloween project is making ghosts from cheescloth dipped in starch and placed over a 2 liter soda bottle to dry. I know there are plenty more..I'll have to think

Christmas crafts be a great thing to work on that time of year.

My favourite Craft Nite craft was a christmas wreath from Mary Engelbriet's Home Companion Magazine last year. It's a flat styrofoam wreath form completely covered with old glass christmas ornaments of all shapes and sizes and colous. It's sooo beautiful, I still have it hanging

We visited one of the local thrift stores for weeks to collect enough but I think it only cost about $10 in the end.

I don't think its a wreath that could stand up to great outdoors because we used plain old glue gun sticks, but it looks fabulous indoors.

You could also make crafts to give as christmas gifts, cuts down on shopping and you'll have a swell time making them!

I'm a craft fanatic, and anyone who comes to my house can tell!

My personal fave is faux stained glass, which I make for my family and co workers every year. Last year I made window clings for Christmas made the same way as the liquid glass.

I used to sew, knit and crochet but have no patience for it anymore!
