Calling all Chicago DISers #3

Gloomy Gus is back. Just when I was seeing a light at the end of the tunnel someone has to come along and snuff it out. DH had his 6th treatment Monday morning. I called him last night to see how it went. He said he is feeling a little bit better then before. Good. Positive Progress.

Then he drops another bomb shell on me. The doctor says three more after that one, but instead of the next one being Wednesday and the following Friday she is only doing one more this week. Only one on Thursday. That means we are going into the following week. :sad2:

More days wasted with him sitting there as they add on more days to their bill. If they follow the original schedule then he should be finished with the treatments the following Wednesday. I was so hoping and thinking it would be all over with this week. I was praying I'd have him home by this weekend.

He has been in there way too long with so many wasted days where all he does is sit there. At least if they were giving him therapy I would feel there is some progress being made, but these stupid group sessions where they sit with 10 or 12 people in a circle talking is a waste of time. At least it is for my DH since he is given the option to just sit there and not discuss what is bothering him. He finds it difficult to discuss his problems and does better one on one.

I was told by the advocate that the conversation goes by rapidly and you have to be real quick to get your thoughts out or your opinion made. Only a small hand full of people speak while others sit there idly in the background. What are those people benefiting from these group sessions? Nothing!

So as I said wasted days just adding on to the bill. It feels like the hospital is milking it since we have insurance. Well like I said the insurance stinks. There is one part of me who is saying if he was at least doing better with this plan okay lets go for it, but he isn't. When is this all going to end????

Then after he finally does get out he still has that out patient program he has to go through which is the same old routine as the group sessions???:confused3:mad: Not sure how long those are suppose to go on.:confused3 His medical leave is only good until February 24th then he is suppose to be back to work. Meanwhile, like I have said in the past we are living off of our savings. :sad2:

Again, can't sleep. Can't stop crying. I'll be next.

Susan ~ Continued hugs for you. I am sorry that the end to all of this seems so far away, but try and keep the faith. It may not seem like it to you, but to me, you seem to be so strong. It is normal to cry and feel anxious about the bills.

It's a short day today!!!!!:woohoo::woohoo:
I leave by 3pm :yay::yay:

Have any of you had the $0.99 wraps at Dunkin Donuts?
I got one today, and they are the most ridiculous, tiny things, I ever laid eyes on. Plus, it wasn't very good :sad2:I'm so glad I brought soup AND a sandwich today, or I would be starving by dinner time.:upsidedow

nat - Welcome home!!!!!
I"m glad you had a good time despite the very chilly/cold weather :cool1:

geffric - How fun about the wedding and being able to go to DL :)

Stitchfans - So many continued hugs to you!!!
Can your DH get an extension on his medical leave, if his doctors say it's necessary? Sometime before 2/24 I would look into this, and see if it's possible. I pray for you all, all the time. Please continue to be strong, and we are always here for you!!!!:grouphug:

piglet - See you facebook :goodvibes

Well, I gotta run and start getting some work done, here at work, so my employee has something to do tonight.

Have a good day everyone!!

Piglet - Nice to see you!

What a dead day, here at work :guilty:
Thank goodness the sun is shining :sunny: that helps make the day not seem so dreary :thumbsup2 I do have stuff to do, which is a good thing - it makes the day go by faster!!:thumbsup2

I realized this morning how much I have let myself go in terms of weight, and how I am eating. Before Kevin lost his job, I was doing so awesome with exercising every day, and really watching what I ate. After he lost his job I was to stressed to work out - I just didn't want to do it. Food became my best friend again, and I was eating alot of junky food. Well, I'm paying for it now, because I've gained about 15lbs since March 30th :eek: I've really fell back into my old ways, which will be hard to dig out of, because I love my sweets :sad1:

momto1 - I hope everything works out with the conference - that would be awesome!!!!:woohoo::cool1:

To everyone else - :wave2:

Well, it's time to get back to work, and accomplish something today :upsidedow
Have a good rest of the day!!!

Thank you everyone. I had a busy day today with housework, laundry, changing bed sheets, groceries, so on. Did not have time to think about anything negative. Saving that for when I lay my head down to go to sleep. Got a phone call from the advocate last night. She is looking into several things for me. Tomorrow night is our first night for our support group. Had a good day today for a change. Lets see what tomorrow brings. Hope you all had a great day. Enjoy the sunshine and the somewhat higher temperature for as long as it lasts.

Afternoon all! Glad to see the sunshine again! Got the dog out for a walk, finally, after a very long hiatus. He was much appreciative of the effort. Got the oil changed in the car and had it washed (it was so filthy), picked up a few things at Target and then found the lovliest little candy store to spend some time (and $$) in. They sell a lot of the candy from "the olden days"-otherwise known as "when I was a kid"!!:lmao: My kids are snacking on the strawberry licorice wheels and laces and the wafers with the beads inside. They think its funny that I used to eat those.

Slo, almost stopped in to say hello to you on my way home, but was afraid I would run late to get the kids home from school. But I said a little hello as I drove past, did you hear me?!

Stitch, glad to hear you are having a bit better day. Try to remember there is nothing you can do about the inevitable, (the bills) so focus on what you have control over, and let the rest of it go. They will work out a payment plan for you, and as long as you continue to pay in good faith, it will be OK. And be sure to take a little time for yourself each day-take a nice bath, read, watch a little TV, and relax.

momto1,:woohoo:a conference at WDW. In my dreams!! To get there on someone else's $$$ and then get to enjoy myself a little, too! Good for you! I hope it all works out just perfectly for you.

Hi geffric, natasha and piglet!

Well, better get off here and get something else done today. The troops will be scrounging for food shortly.

Hello! Long time no talk:rotfl:

What a beautiful day! To bad I had to work.

Question for those of you that work downtown. Is the Pedway still there is it easily marked. It has been years since I worked downtown and used it. I have a friend who is staying in the loop for a while and I thought I would play tour guide. :rolleyes1 I hope I don't get us lost. I don't want to drive down since parking is soo expensive I figured if there is something we can't walk to we would cab it.

Just a few days ago, one of the news stations had a whole story about the 'new' pedway! You should see it! There are stores and food places down there, looks quite nice! I'm not sure where it starts, or how it's marked, but I know I used to use the dreary pedway between the Daley center and County/City building. Apparently, it's been quite extended and expanded. Have fun!

 all!

Was just told DH would be discharged this Monday. Crossing my fingers that it comes true. Also praying he is well enough to stay home and get stronger. Going to see him a little bit later today. In about an hour. It is a little warmer than normal so everything is looking up. Thank you everyone for all your support.

susan, my prayers are the same as yours.

keep things at a slow pace when he first gets home so he does not get overwhelmed right away.

i know you have been going through a trying time, but you are a strong woman and have been able to get through it.

let me know if i can help.

Hey everyone. I officially love long weekends, especially the long one after finals because there is no homework. But of course, I have to finish my applications for art schools and write my essay for Columbia College in the city. I visited there yesterday, and I really liked it, despite the bad tour guide. But it just confused me on what to do for college. Ugh. I wish Columbia wasn't 45 minutes away, it would make this sooo much easier...

momto1 Lucky!!!!! I went with my mom to a "conference" she had for work at Disney. I think she had like one meeting that I slept in the room through. I hope it works out for you!
Stitchfans I'm glad to hear that he's close to coming home. I hope it goes well! :grouphug:

Off to draw and write and other fun stuff like that, on a Saturday night nonetheless...

well yesterday, i worked last night from 6 to close and after.. i am going in today at 3 until close or?? but the good news is that they are going to keep me on .. yeah!! I do love working there..

also - the kids had a change of heart so to speak.. when I first asked Eric if he wanted to join us for the Alaska Cruise.. he said no.. not warm enough and he didn't want to go to alaska.. Geoff wanted to go but ...

so I booked the debt trip for 8/30 once the kids were all in school and we could begin the next phase of deep in debt but just us.. well yesterday, Eric had a change of heart.. said he wanted to go .. so I changed the date on the cruise to 8/9 for 2 rooms for the 4 of us..

i am so excited.. at least the family will be together sort of..maybe for dinner but defenitely Palo brunch..

I KNOW the feeling geffric, and I'm soo glad you'll all be together! (Matt did the same thing to me for the 10/09 trip! Major re-organizing, but it worked!) :thumbsup2

Hi guys! Well, I had a very long post all done, even copied it along the way so incase something happened I'd still have it. Well, the kids tried to access a game online and it froze up my computer and we had to shut down which wiped out my copied post. :headache:

Full house here today, DH is working from home, all 3 kids are off school and it is a DNephew babysitting day. Will have to run and get lunch in a minute so I'll have to make this quick.

DD8 has to make her diorama of an animal habitat for science fair today and we're making fleece tied blankets for Project Linus for that Disney Give a Day Get a Day promo. Girls are off school tomorrow too as our pastor is being ordained a bishop tomorrow. DD12 has her volleyball tournament Wed, they are ranked 3rd going in!

geffric - congrats on being kept on at the store!
*Aaaahh, a Disney cruise sounds wonderful. So glad you get to go all together!

MJ - best of luck with the college decision!

mac - long time no see! Hope all is well in your neck of the woods!

Stitchfans - keeping you all in our prayers. Hope today goes well and that it is the beginning of a turnaround for you.

Hersey - hmm, never heard of that pedway - will have to check it out. Have fun playing tourguide.

Tiggerrn - my car is in desperate need of an oil change and car wash. Maybe I'll take care of that later this week.

(insert smilie wave here) Hi to everyone else! Have to run, the timer for the mac-n-cheese is beeping and the kids are clamoring for lunch.

Have a great day everyone!! princess:

Hi all!! :wave2:

I hope you had a good weekend.
Mine was productive and relaxing all at the same time :thumbsup2
We watched "Don't Mess With the Zohan" Saturday night, and it was TERRIBLE!!!!! Thank goodness it was on cable, and I didn't pay to rent it, because I would have been really annoyed if I paid money for it

Stitchfans - I pray your DH has an easy transition coming home today  Please keep us posted on how he, and you all, are doing:grouphug:

Tiigggernnnnn - I did see you waving as you drove by, did you see me wave back :teeth: :wave2:

chell - Good luck on your essay :wizard:

geffric - That's great about you all going on the cruise :sail:
**congrats on being kept at the DTS :cheer2:

To everyone else - :wave2:

Well, I must get back to work - have a good rest of the day!!!

I have officially realized that I am a complete idiot with computers:badpc:
Whenever I have a problem - I can never figure it out by myself.
I always have to ask Kevin for help, and what gets me, is he has never had any computer education, and he can figure it out :badpc:
So annoying!!!!:headache:

I'm embarrassed to say, that it took me 1 year, yes, 1 year, to iron, and hang up Katie's curtains  I did it last night, and it took me about an hour. After I was done, I was really embarrassed, for myself, that it took me a year. I really hate hanging curtains though - I mean, I really HATE IT!!!! I'm glad it's done now - it feels good to have that not hang over my head anymore (no punt intended  )

I'm at work early, so I can get some work done, so I guess I should go do it:upsidedow
Have a good day everyone!!!

Stitchfan ~ You are in my thoughts today. I hope all goes well.

Geffric ~ Glad to hear you are staying on. I too just love working there. I got my free passes last week, what a great perk. I think you will get your first set in June.

Working the next three days but then off for two. Dewain and I are celebrating 17 years as a couple on Saturday. We met by chance that night and were engaged three months later. :lovestruc
