Calling all Chicago DISers #3

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: Thank goodness it's FRIDAY!!!! I have a busy weekend ahead of me but that's ok. It's the holidays and i love this festive time of year. :lovestruc My day started a little rough with my alarm not going off (or it went off and i turned it off in my sleep) Then i got to work and bought myself an egg sandwich b/c well, i ran out of the house without breakfast OR lunch. Wellllllllllll, my fried egg leaked through the wrapping they put it on and got all over my desk calendar. Good thing it's almost the new year! I already have my New Years Resolutions picked out.

Natashag ~ Welcome to our home! Please stop by often!:goodvibes

Geffric ~ how's working for Disney? I really wanted to work at the DS in Orland but just didn't have time this year. Maybe next year.

Slo ~ glad to hear your finger is doing better. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers that all your results come back ok!

momto1 ~ Jon seems to have a busy year ahead of him! Will he be doing marching band in the fall? also, i will say i took German in HS and Spanish in College. I found German to be much MUCH easier. :thumbsup2

bunchy ~ i can't wait to be done with this home buying process! such a headache!

everyone ~ :wave2: hope everyone is doing well!

More Chicagoans...what a relief!
I'm so glad to find this thread.
Welcome! Where are you located?

momto ~ My oldest is in his second year of German, and he loves it. For him, it is much easier than Spanish was.

Stitch ~ THinking of you

Slo ~ Hope the testing turns up nothing major. You are such a strong person.

ANother day at TDS, but at least I am not closing. I might get some shopping done tonight and finally get the house decorated.

:flower3: Happy Friday everyone!

Hi guys!! T.G.I.F.!! Oh, yeah I'm totally ready for Christmas vacation! Ready for a break from alarms, homework, projects and lunches.

Just glad yesterday is over! DS9 had trouble at school and ended up home for the day which totally messed up my plans to pick up some more gifts and get the teacher gifts ready. Thankfully I finished the teacher gifts around midnight and they are all out the door this morning so I can relax a bit.

DD8 has a Girl Scout skating party tonight and DD12 also has a party so it will be a busy night around here. Tomorrow is cookie baking day at DSILs house, it is an all day affair but I come home with lots and lots of yummy cookies!

natashag76 - Welcome to the thread!! Hope you stop by often!

geffric - Welcome Back!! Looking forward to hearing about your trip.

slo - glad to hear the finger is almost back to normal. Hope the Rhumatologist has some good news for you. Yesterday the banner ad at the bottom of the DIS board was for heated gloves for those with Raynaud's made me think of you!

momto1 - well, that schedule certainly will keep him busy next year!

Bunchkin - thanks for the Santa video link, will have to set that up for my kiddos.
*Hope all goes well with the offer on FILs house. I'm sure your kids must be excited about moving back!
**BIL is the most self centered person I have ever met! DH is SO completely different that I sometimes wonder where BIL came from, he's not like any of the rest of them. If he didn't look so much like MILs side of the family I would wonder. :rolleyes1

Stitchfans - so glad to hear good news for you! Hope all goes well today. Happy Anniversary!!

disneygal - congrats on the condo stuff, hope it works out for you (and quickly).
*We haven't seen Princess & the Frog yet, so want to though!

mac - welcome back! How are things?

Well, need to pick up a few Christmas gifts before school pick up which is at 11:40a today so I need to run. Going to take the girls out to lunch too. Have a great day everyone! :santa:

Thanks for the warm welcome!
I'm in West Rogers Park, just south of Evanston.
Looking forward to chatting with locals :goodvibes

Welcome. This is a great group of people.

Thank you for the support and Anniversary wishes.
Last night DD and I went to the hospital to see DH. He didn't look very good. Very thin, shaking real back and crying quite a bit. He said if he did well all that evening and did well at a group session this morning he could come home. After seeing him I have my doubt, but still have hope.

I got a phone call from DD's study hall teacher. He said he helped her with her bridge project and actually had her laughing as he stuck himself a few dozen times. He said it was completed and one of the top better ones in her class. I thanked him big time of course!

Well will wait to see if I get a phone call from the hospital with good new. Need to hop into the shower because last night I was out late after getting home from the hospital trying to remove all the ice from our driveway since they are calling for a few inches of snow. I got the remainder off this morning. I am afraid of missing the call so I guess I will bring the cordless phone into the bathroom and try to be quick.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Happy Friday!

Going to run some errands today and then help out at DS's holiday party. They are decorating cookies with lots of messy, gooey stuff!

DH and I started, finally, wrapping last night. We are hoping to get most of it done by Saturday night. He's actually pretty good at wrapping....I trained him well!

An offer did come in on the house and it was waaayyyy low. The other realtor actually put in his email that he "hopes we wouldn't find the offer offensive"!! :headache: Are you crazy??!!!??? You should know that if you even have to think that, let alone write that, then it's too low!

irish dancer Hope the girls have fun tonight.
The Santa video can be used for adults too. I did one for my DH and it was so funny because of the silly picture I used of DH. I put DH on Santa's naughty list. And when his picture popped up Santa just happened to say "oh, this doesn't look good"!!!!!! LOL!! :rotfl:

natashag Welcome to the Chicago Thread! :hippie:

Stitch I hope all goes well today and he'll come home.

piglet I hope you can get things done after work today! :thumbsup2

disneygal I had that happen to the jacket I was wearing the other day as I drove around town and was trying to eat lunch! I need to keep some disposable baby bibs in the car!!!

geffric Welcome back! Hope you had a great time!!

slo Good to hear your finger is healing a bit. I hope your eye exam went well too.

Time to get a movin'!

Good Friday afternoon Chicagoland Homies..............:yay:

have you ever lost track of time and thought the holiday was really 2 weeks away instead of 1 week..............

i looked at the calendar this morning and realized christmas is next friday.
gee, i thought for some reason it was on saturday.

i have been out of town since early december.
my parental units were in need again.
this time my dad had to have surgery on his eyes.
he has glaucoma and the pressure was holding at 28 and was close to losing his vision.

readers digest version: his surgery turned out to be 3 hours due to complications.
he was due to have the surgery at the end of this month, but after seeing the surgeon, it was changed to an earlier date with only 3 days notice.

so i left home at that point to be the helper again.
it was the right thing to do.
(mr mac took care of the home front and our disabled son just fine.)

i missed all the bad weather up here as the temps in st louis area was much milder.

i have not done any christmas shopping.
nothing for gifts or food yet.
i did get a tree up yesterday.

this morning i spent shopping for a women's shelter. i love doing that.
this one place will continue to take donations until january 2nd.
they need just basics items that most of us always have at home.

i'll go out and do my family gift shopping on monday.
i dread going to the malls on the weekends.

i think this is the year i won't be getting out any christmas cards to homies.
i need to decide which is the priority: baking cookies or doing cards with letters.

food always is the top of the list within my four walls.........

when i have time, i will play ketchup and go back and read what i have missed the last few weeks.

hoping all is well with all the chicagoland homies here!

next year i need to get addresses so i can do cards for all of youse.

ANother day at TDS, but at least I am not closing.

me too.. only working 5 -10, then tomorrow, Sunday, Monday all day 8-4:30.. I feel bad for those closing as it is 2am or so before they get out..

Welcome back MAC - glad the 'rents are okay..

Stitchfans - hope all goes well for you and DH today.. happy anniversary!!

Welcome natashag76 .. this is a great group.. i lived in so evanstan for a while great area..

Mount Union College Choir performing in the Chicago Area in January
This really doesn't seem to fit in the "DISmeets" category, but I'll let the moderators decide whether or not to move this thread.

My daughter Sarah will be performing with the 54 voice Mount Union College Choir in Naperville (IL) on January 7th and Crystal Lake (IL) on January 8th. Both concerts are free to the public and will be at 7:30PM. I've seen three performances of this concert (so far) and am looking forward to both performances in Illinois. I hope that some of you can find time in your busy schedules to drop by Grace United Methodist Church on the 7th or First United Methodist Church on the 8th to see and hear one of the best college choirs in nation. If you need more details, feel free to PM me and I can provide more information.

Hope to see you there!!!

Geffric ~ I think that the one church your daughter's concert is at, is the one mike sings for so maybe we'll stop by! i'll have to ask him as i think he normally has rehearsal on Thursday nights!

Hi gang! TGIF! I braved Kohl's last night for a few gifts. Tonight I have to do Big Lots for a Tea Kettle. Sometime this weekend I will hit the grocery stores. And...that might be it!! But, knowing me, I will find things I just have to buy at the last minute.

Natashg -Welcome! We are a great group. Come visit us often.

Susan - Happy Anniversary! I hope dh is doing well today.

Slo - Glad to hear the finger is doing better. Sending good vibes for your upcoming testing.

ID - Sounds like your girls will have a fun night!

Piglet and DG - thanks for the reassurance on German. I guess I thought it sounded harder than maybe it is. Neither dh or I took German so we won't be any help at all.

Mac - Good to hear from you! I didn't realize you had a disabled son. I work with adults with disabilities in a large agency in Cicero.

Bunchkin - Bummer on the low offer. That stinks!

I hope the snow stays away! Have a good weekend everyone!
Lori

Merry Christmas week, Chicagoland!!

Have been busy shopping, wrapping, decorating, shipping, and on and on and on, as I am sure all of you have, too!

Yesterday, we went up to Kenosha to see the Christmas concert of Brian's band and chorus students; they did a great job! (Now I have all kinds of Christmas songs in my head!):santa:

Today, Christopher will be flying in from Reno. We are looking forward to a good week!!!

Please know you are all in my thoughts & prayers at this special time of year. I feel truly blessed to be a small part of all of your lives.

Take care and have a wonderful week! :goodvibes

DH came home on Friday afternoon. The afternoon and evening went great. Saturday morning started out rough and got worst as the day went on. Around 8:45 in the evening he broke down and told me something that made my blood curdle.

A psychologist came to him for a four hour psychological testing session. When he was done the idiot told DH that he had no soul.:eek: he said he lost his soul??? Then he added that he should take a hammer to DH's head.:sad2::confused::scared1: How is that supposed to help him. It only frightened and confused him even more. No wonder he is the way he is. All I could do was reassure him that the idiot was wrong and cry with him. Then we prayed some more and then cried some more. Just when things are looking better bam!:sad2:

He is still sleeping. Lets see what today brings.

Hey, all! We are back! We got home late Friday night. It was a wonderful trip- beautiful weather and low crowds. We have so many fun stories, I maye do a mini-TR. I think I can handle it, since I don't have school. We'll see!

Thanx Donna.
I feel the same way you do.
I hope all our homies here know that many of us care for each other even though we don't express it enough.
