Good morning everyone! Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

slo - I love the St. Pat's graphic! Dinner at the in-laws was fine, better than having to make it myself and then cleaning up after too ;) . As for vaca, I'm not sure who is more excited but everyone in this house is counting the days & hours til we leave ;) .

ZeroMyHero - Welcome! I'm a relative newbie too, everyone here has been great so I hope you come by often to chat.

Have the corned beef and potatoes in the crockpot, will boil the cabbage later. I know it isn't an authentic Irish meal but my kids and DH LOVE it, even the cabbage :confused3 . Once at the in-laws we had corned beef and FIL shredded and fried the cabbage, interesting but not at all what I'm used to :) . I've also got a fresh loaf of soda bread too.

Becky - thanks for the details on the Alton stuff. DH loved the Feasting on Asphalt series, I'll have to find that book for his b-day in May.

Well, I'm off to run some errands. Have a great day everyone!

just checking in to see how the chicagoland homies are.

i'm leaving early tuesday morning and will be back to wave bye bye before i go to the land of the Hula dancers.

no irish food here for us today....

The test went well, showing no significant hearing loss. Her left eardrum is not reacting however, so she will be seeing an ENT (a new one) to try and figure out why.

Lauren had her first visit from the Tooth Fairy last night. Found it funny that we had to remind her to look and see what she got. The tooth was swallowed so at least the TF's job was a bit easier. ;)

Here are the Alton Brown pictures -- they aren't that great but it's all I got. You had to take them while moving along in the line. I had a couple others but I deleted them because they ended up really weird. One had a light burst on his head and the other was really dark.

The kids did fine during the talk. DS was a little antsy but not too bad, that's just because he thought he was funny & was overly excited to be there.

mac Have a great, and safe, trip to Hawaii!

piglet Too bad Lauren swallowed her first lost tooth!
I hope the new ENT will bring needed answers for her!! :goodvibes

Alton is really the only TV chef that I still enjoy watching. All the others are entertaining at first, but don't usually do much that you can see yourself cooking at home.

Alton, on the other hand, can do an entire show just teaching you how to make really great everyday food, like mashed potatoes. You watch his show and then actually go apply what you learned in the kitchen.

Good evening all. Just popping in for a quick hello.
Mac, have a great trip!!! Please bring home some sun and warm weather!!!
Piglet, glad to hear your DD has no sig change with hearing. Your DS car is neat. Never would have thought to do something like that.
Disneynut, my pick for DL would be Disneyland Hotel if that is where you decide to go. But a week at AKL would trump DL any day. And 3 days is all the more you would need at DL. I would have to move on to a different park and a cheaper hotel at that point. We are headed there in June for a wedding, but staying at the Howard Johnson across the street. Just couldn't bring myself to spend $$$ for their on-site hotels since the HoJo is just across the street on the other side of the park. (Saving it all for my August trip to WDW-and my DNiece and her DH will be joining the kids and I. My DH has opted to stay home. He is Disney'd out.:scared1:) Fine with me-no party poopers on this trip. He says DL for the wedding is all the more Disney he can handle for one summer. We'll have a great time without him.:yay:
Well, headed off to bed. Kids have an all school bowling party tomorrow that I am chaperoning. :rolleyes1 What was I thinking?!!!!:scared:
Night all.

Kim Glad you found us.

Quick flyby

Mac Have a great trip

Becky Sounds like Alton was very interesting. My son and I like watching him.

Ok I got to jump in the shower and get ready. Alas I was not among the St Patty lottery winners :sad1:

I'm sitting here eating some soda bread this morning with my coffee:surfweb:
My waistline doesn't need it, but it sure is good :goodvibes

My St. Patricks Day was extrememly uneventful
I worked all day, 10-7, and then I went to a town meeting at 7:30pm.
Then I came home, and put the girls and I to bed.

geffric - Your orange chicken sounds really good!!!!

DG - :wave2:

Bunchkin - I love the story about Hunter - he's so cute!!!!!!
**I didn't eat the cabbage - I just couldn't do it
I don't even eat coleslaw, because I just can't stand cabbage
**If I don't find a dress, do you think it's bad for me to wear black on Stephanie's First Communion? I have a new dress that I bought for the cruise, but I didn't know if black would seem to drab for a special day.

Zero - Your welcome, for the welcomes!!!!
**My in-laws bought the soda bread, and in fact, my FIL stopped at the store yesterday (I own a custom picture framing store in my town) and brought me a loaf. It's so tasty!!!!!

ID - How was your cornbeef and cabbage last night? I hope it was tasty!!!

Mac - Have a safe trip to Hawaii!!!! I hope you have a great flight, and a wonderful time with your brother. Have fun!!!!!

piglet - Congrats to Lauren on losing her first tooth.
**That's great news about her hearing, and I hope the new ENT can give you some answers.

Becky - Thanks for sharing the Alton Brown pictures.

Crissup - Alton is not my favorite, but I do agree with you on the fact that you learn things while watching him. He's very educational!!!

Tiggggerrnnnnn - Have fun at the bowling party tonight!!!!

Kim - I'm glad you found us!!!!!! Please don't be a stranger!!!

HERSEY - :wave2:

**For some reason the smilies aren't working, so I'm sorry that my post is so drab.

Well, it's time for me to go get ready for work
Have a good day today everyone!!!

Well, I gotta run and finish eating my bread, and then get ready for work
Have a good day today everyone!!

Good, drizzly, morning all!!!

Off to go shopping for Easter Basket stuff this morning. Taking DH with as he wants to go to Bass Pro Shop. I may leave him there! :thumbsup2

DD has a field tip today in this crudy weather, at a 4-H field!!

slo That was nice of your Father in-law to stop by with some of that soda bread for you!
I'll eat coleslaw, but only mine or certain other kinds. I don't like them all.
A black dress could be nice for the Communion. How about pairing it with something that is a spring color, like a cute wrap, scarf, shawl or a short waist coat. That might be easier to find than a new dress. A little pop of color would made it very springy!!
One Easter we were on vacation at Big Cedar Lodge, and we went to the Easter brunch they have. I wore black dress capris (very nice pair), and a dressy lavendar colored wrap top that has beading on it. It was very spring like and classy. Not too dark at all.

Kim I'm so glad you found us! Stop by more often!!
Got any tickets to see the Cubs this year? We are going to the Amer. Girl promo game!! :cool1:

Tiggerrn Have fun at the bowling party!!

Good Morning everyone! :flower3: Another not so beautiful but better than snow morning! I definitely overslept this morning :scared1: but made it to the train in plenty of time! I was all excited last night when I got home from class to see that I had two more packages from Disney! One was my customized maps, they're neat couldn't really spend much time looking at them but I will definitely find a way to use them in my scrapbook! The other was our luggage tags and random vouchers and info. I am so excited for this trip! My dad said he hasn't seen me this excited in a loooong time! We are thinking we might take a family trip in October for my DNephew's 3rd BDay! He is a huge Mickey fan and loves those Little Einsteins (those are Disney right?!?!) It depends on if my sister and BIL decide to move again... Anywho...

Slo ~ I think black can be very nice to wear to a communion! I agree with Bunchkin, pair it up with a nice springy pastel or bright color and it will look very nice! I have a black dress that is nice but boring so I always wear a pink or yellow cardigan with it and it looks nice! Some nice springy shoes will even dress it up!

Piglet ~ hope the new ENT will help!

Becky ~ Thanks for sharing your pics of Alton!

Mac ~ Have a great, safe, and relaxing trip!

Crissup ~ I agree, alot of TV chefs get boring. :rolleyes1 Alton is one I never get bored with. I also like Duff (the Ace of Cakes) but I don't know if you'd consider him a TV chef b/c he really doesn't show us how to make the cakes... just how they decorate them!

Tiggerrn ~ have fun bowling with the kids!:goodvibes

Have a good day everyone!

Morning everyone,

slo - how funny, I had soda bread with my tea this morning. So tasty!

Becky - *love* the pics of Alton. I am really jealous now!

Just got back from my DD's ballet class. Only two weeks to the recital and we finally got the tights in today - disappointing. The instructors said no undergarments are worn on stage, so I assumed the tights would have a cotton panel and they don't. Seems like it'll be uncomfortable for her. :confused3 Anyone have any previous experience with this? Also, I was chosen to be a room mom. I'll be in charge of six 3-year-olds during the recital. I think I may be in over my head!

Have a great day despite the dreariness of it - spring is coming! :woohoo:

everyone else - thanks for all the welcomes, it makes a girl feel good. :)

Glad you made it over here. :goodvibes

Leigh. I am in the same bra place as you.. I have been wearing a certain one for years and years and years.. they don't make it anymore and i need to buy some new ones.. but I can't find any that aren't bouncing.. I am thinking of going to a special bra place and trying that..

My new one seems pretty good. I would say the only thing I don't like is that the straps are stretchy. Seriously, what's the point of that? Doesn't it defeat the whole purpose? But really, even thought VS has a ton of bras, once you eliminate the push-ups, the convertibles, the thin, the demis (don't like them), etc, there were only a few to choose from. :sad2:

Hi gang!

Welcome to ZeroMyHero and Kim! Stop and visit with us oftern.

DH just called and said we might not be able to leave on Thursday for Florida. He has a late afternoon mandatory meeting. UGH!!!! I don't want to drive all the way to Florida in one day! Oh, well... it could be worse. He is still trying to get out of the meeting.

Becky - The Alton experience sounded interesting. It would have been fun just to see him. Thanks for sharing! Also, thanks for the info on the glass exhibit. I wasn't sure we were going but am thinking about it now.

Anybody's kids do Brookfield Zoo camp? DS does a week a summer. Today is the first day of registration. Want to get him registered before we leave for Florida.

Just a quick stop by. Have tons of work at work to get done before I can leave for vacation. My boss threatened to siphon my gas so I couldn't leave if I don't get certain projects done!
Lori

Lori ~ Kevin (DS13) will be applying for the Youth Volunteer Program this year. Thanks, BTW, for mentioning the camp, because I forgot that the applications were posted on Saturday. He needs to write 3 essays, and get two letters of recommendation, by April 11th.

Okay, I am a little behind...I have been lurking, but it is too hard to post while eating breakfast!
Piglet- Pinewood Derby car was too cute! Ds did not do BS this year. It conflicted with dd's dance times, and since she started before he did, she won out!
Irish- Love Stir Crazy! We have Flat Top, which is the same thing. Dfiance gets the most for his money. I can safely say you will never see a bigger stir fry. he has it down to a science, complete with a green bean border to fence it all in!
Slo and Bunchkin- Easter baskets...dd wants an i-pod. Um, no!?! Baskets are for candy and small stuff! Sheesh!
Zero- Hi! Dd does dance and has for a few years. She is only 6, bit those costumes are expensive. Is this your dd's first recital?

So, I booked the honeymoon last night! I did not get exactly what I wanted (CSR or Pop), but we are going for 8 glrious nights in August to ASMovies! 6 days of tickets and 8 days of dining! Now I need to make reservations. I feel so much pressure, tho, since this will be dfiance's first trip and I want it to be perfect so he will turn into a Dis freak like me! I also signed up for the honeymoon registry, so guests can purchase portions of our trip as a gift (let me know if you'd like to make a charitable contribution:lmao: )!
Now, what should I not miss?!? My head is spinning...

Evening all.
Bowling went well. Kids were well behaved. I haven't bowled in a long time, but today I pulled off a 169 and 174.:cool1: Kids had a great time.
Paint, congrats on the honeymoon plans. You will have a great time. As far as what you should not miss- We'd need a longer post paper. I think I would try to plan a nice romantic fireworks cruise, though. Paint, when in Aug. will you be there?
Slo, to answer your question from a few days ago, we are staying at the Beach Club in August.
KimRaye, glad you found us again. Come stop in often.
ZeroMyHero, my DD has been in ballet for the past 4 years. I agree with you about those cotton liners. But it doesn't seem to bother the girls. :confused3 I would feel ICK!! DD is in an upcoming Peter Pan production. I am just glad the only thing we have to purchase for this is undergarments. When she does Winterdance every other year, it is undergarments and 2 costumes, slippers, tights, hair junk. $$$ I thought this was going to be a cheap sport. :rolleyes1
Leigh, I have found the VS Secret Embrace to be a wonderful bra. Adds a little where I really need it.:lmao: And it's really a comfortable bra. Just wish I could afford to have more than 2 at a time.
Rose, hope your dad is doing better. And hope things are going well in your family. I will keep you all in thoughts and prayers.
Well, better get off to bed. I have a million things to do tomorrow. EB needs to shop and I need to clean and :laundy: and.........
Night

Hi all! Glad to see so many 'regular' names still here, as well as a few 'new' ones! :grouphug:
Kim I'm so glad you found us! Stop by more often!!
Got any tickets to see the Cubs this year? We are going to the Amer. Girl promo game!! :cool1:
Absolutely! 5 games so far. Let's meet up at the Amer. Girl game, definately!!!! :thumbsup2

Hope everyone is doing well! :goodvibes

Phew, just getting on-line today. So busy trying to get everything done this week.

Have to "work" hot lunch at DDs school tomorrow so I'll be tied up there all day (9:30a-1:30p). They go to Catholic school and have hot lunch 1x/mo, moms volunteer to serve and clean-up.

slo - corned beef was good, I've never seen DD6 eat so much. She is tiny (her nickname is peanut) and such a picky eater that I can't believe she LOVES corned beef and cabbage :confused3 . Can't say I got the same response for the mashed sweet potatoes and spaghetti squash I fixed tonight, at least she ate the ham :rotfl: .

Paint - lol, DH doesn't like Stir Crazy so I always have to find a girl friend to go with  . Congrats on booking the honeymoon! DH and I did the Big Red Boat and Disney for our honeymoon nearly 13yrs ago, it was wonderful.

momto1 - sorry your departure has been delayed. Hopefully it'll work out for you, I know how disappointed I'd be.

I'm so glad to be leaving this weather, those couple of days of sun and warmer weather were such a tease!

Probably won't be on until late tomorrow so I hope everyone has a great day!
