My best friend and I are planning a girls shoping get-away Dec 1 & 2. I'm very familiar with the Niagara Falls Outlet Mall and Target shopping area. Just wondering what else we should cover. I've read about another outlet mall in Waterloo, NY which is close to Rochester...anyone been there? Also, there appear to be two malls in Buffalo area...Galleria and Boulevard Mall...any experience with either? I'm thinking we'll stay in the Amherst area, but am open to other ideas....we want to feel safe and ideally would be near some restaurants etc. Thanks for your expertise!

By means I'm no expert but up until I had this job I usually went the Day of the US Thanksgiving, 'cause it's their biggest shopping day of the year! This is my trail. I cross the border at 7:00a.m. or earlier depending who is with me. I head towords the Galleria Mall, very pricey but they have a Disney Store and Victoria Secrets. When I am done there, I head over to the Target over the Highway, then head back to Burlington Coat Factory where Wegman's is, then, K-Mart. I head towards Tranit Road (turn Left). Along Transit road are a lot of strip malls that have Dollars stores, T.J. Max's, Toys 'R' Us, etc. Last stop is the 24 hour Wal-Mart.
Then I head along Sheridan to Boulevard Mall and Sam's. After finish there, I usually stay at the Travelodge in Amherst on Main Street. I have stayed there a few time by myself and felt safe. There is a Burger King right there and that's where I have Breaky! Then I head back onto Sheridan toward Niagara and hit all the Malls there. Last stop is usually the Niagara Outlet Mall then Home back to T.O.

Mind you this is all off the top of my head.

Hope this helps

Jo-Anne we took my cousins who were visiting from Scotland this past May over the border to the Boulevard Mall and it was a very nice mall (with a Krispy Kreme store right across the street!)

The Mall even has a Disney Store too and also a Yankee Candle store (I am addicited to these things! LOL);) Here's the site for you to take a look around and includes directions too! Hope this helps and happy "bargain" hunting! :sunny:

Try Outlet mall on the Canadian Side (Lundy's Lane).

Also Galleria is pretty but not great bargains. May want to try Sam's Club (Walmart's version of Costco). It is both in NF and about 2-3 minutes from Galleria. You can get a day pass there.

I go often to the NF Outlet and it is fine and there is a Sam's nearby as well.

I think the Walden Galleria is bigger than the Boulevard Mall but stuff is slightly more expensive. If you're able to go on the weekend of US Thanksgiving, you should be able to get some really good deals ... at least that's what I hear from my friends in the US.

The Galleria Mall!! ooooh...Lord and Taylor is the best!! No..you don't always get a bargain....especially if you end up paying duty....but you have lots of different things to choose from! I find when the stores do have sales...there are certainly deals to be had! If you open up credit cards in some of the stores you can get 10% purchases all day long...a bit of an incentive!
My DD's love Abercrombie and Fitch (Pricey) and Bath and Bodyworks...lots of fun! Enjoy!:bounce:

I go down a few times a year with friends, but we just stay for the day. Our normal route is Target on Niagara Fall Boulevard, the Outlet Mall on Military Road (lunch at the food court) and then the Boulevard Mall (dinner at TGI Fridays). Our final stop is the Krispy Kreme shop across the road from the mall. We usually leave Toronto at about 7:00 a.m. on a Saturday and get back around 11:00 p.m. or so. We used to go to the Galleria as well, but the higher prices and loss of some of the (IMHO) best stores there (Laura Ashley, Nature Company, LearningSmith, Natural Wonders, Talbots Kids) has kept us away on the last few trips.

We usually fill up the van with 5 or 6 shoppers and we all have a great time while our husbands look after all the kids.

Hope you have a great time!

I just returned from a "girls" weekend in buffalo (80 girls) We stayed at the Days Inn accross from the Boulavard Mall Amherst off Sheridan Ave. Four blocks from KMart, Target, Burlington Coat Factory (walkable) or a $7 taxi ride. There were some great deals at Boulavard Mall ( Kauffmans). Also within walking distance...TJ Max and DSW Shoe Warehouse. We enjoyed Chillis so much we ate there both nights, however TGIFridays is in the Mall parking lot as well and there is a Krispy Kreme donut shop close by as well. Have fun, spend lots..........................

I live in Fort Erie and I think I have the best of both worlds. I do all my shopping in Buffalo. First of all what will you and your girlfriends be looking for. That usually will determine on where I'm going. If you go to the Niagara Falls Prime outlet mall you'll find great deals. Remember to stop at customer service for your free coupon book. The Walden Galleria is nice. But as said in previous posts it is expensive. But if going on the US Thanksgiving weekend you will find deals. Have you ever tried Marshalls? It's our equivilent to Winners. They have great brand names at reduced costs. You can find everything from kids wear, toys, house hold items, body and bath items, cheap name brand perfumes and cologne, mens and ladies wear, footwear everything. Also have you tried TJ Maxx it's another discount brand name store. These stores are only for bargain hunters. If you don't like to save money don't go.LOL

Is there a Filene's Basement in Buffalo anymore? I remembered I went to one a long time ago with my family and then we stopped going. I don't remember which mall it was in but it had some great deals :D It was also similar to Winner's in Canada...
