I absolutely LOVE this restaurant! (Okay...my descendants way back are German...and I occasionally had good, authentic German food from relatives.) And my family...including our little ones, enjoyed this place as well.
BUT...with so many wonderful places to eat at Disney (including LeCellier at Epoct...one of our favorites)...whenever I suggest this as a place to go, I'm overuled!
Would just love to hear from others out there who love Biergarten......whether you are German and expected something great....or whether you were really unsure about trying something a little "unusual" but found it enjoyable!

We've been eating at Biergarten on a regular basis since 1990. It was a tradition an ex-BF and I started and has just carried over into married life (married different BF).
We go to the F&WF every year (annual adults only trip) and always have dinner PS's here. But this year we're doing Restaurant Marrakesh. Then we felt so bad we weren't eating @ Biergaretn, we're tacking on another day at Epcot/F&WF just so we can have dinner there.
I am a gourmet chef by trade. (I almost worked for Disney back in 1996 but got pregnant and had a family instead) I have been eating German food since I was a kid (yes, I am of german decent). I think between the bratwurst, spaetzel and becks beer the German pavillion is one of my most favorite in all the 'World'!:worship:

We've eaten there - family of five plus my parents - and enjoyed it very much. The kids ate plenty, and we ate and drank plenty. I've traveled to Germany a few times, and the Biergarten brings back sweet memories.

My brother went with his family of five - and LOVEd it, too! He has visited Germany many times and lived in Munich for almost a year. And, he could not believe how authentic the Biergraten was. He raved about it.

I think it's very authentic, but I think there is plenty to eat for the not to adventurous as well. I hope you can convince your family to go to the Biergarten for a meall this trip. If not, consider trying to stop by outside for just a beer and a pretzel.

DH and I have eaten there 3 times, always at lunch, and we love it. DH spent 9 months living in Germany, also some of his family is from Germany, and Biergarten always brings back great memories. Also, it gives him a chance to use his rapidly fading German language.

Thank you for posting this topic!

When I was reading about all the great World Showcase restaurants, Biergarten was the one that I especially wanted to try on our next trip. I am also (partially) of German descent, and like schnitzel and wursts and all the other German food.

Looks like the entertainment is a nice plus for this buffet meal as well. Also, you do not need to make a PS for this one, so that makes going there convenient.

(Do they still serve stuffed cabbage? That is my favorite!)

Let's hear more "cheers" for the Biergarten!

I am also a big fan of the Biergarten!!! Went for the first time for Thanksgiving dinner in 1999, and loved it!!! We have been back several times since then.

DH and I are very picky eaters, but this place satisfies both of us. I think the variety is good, please the music is fun as well.

I would highly recommend to park-goers.

While you may be able to get a table here without PS if they aren't busy, it is a gamble and you should make a PS.

This is our favorite restaurant at Epcot. I was stationed in Germany twice and this restaurant brings back many fond memories. I, too, am of German decent and many of the foods are just the way my Mom made them.

shhhhhhhhh! stop telling people how great this place is or it will be as difficult to get a ps as crt! ;)

lunch or dinner at biergarten (not sure yet) is one of my most-looked-forward-to meals in wdw!

ENJOY!

We love it too. Even my 2 1/2 yr old daughter loves it. She always wants to go down to the dance floor to dance even when she is the only one. It is so cute seeing her twirl around all by herself. She thinks she's Belle from Beauty and Beast. She even does the "ziggy-zoggy" toast with us.

...and let me add, the roast pork was my favorite!! (But there's plenty of excellent food to choose from!)

Time since we ate at Biergarden but I remember we had some great food and they had a wonderful show with band, sing a longs, dancers it was great.::yes:: :wave2:

Can anyone tell me a little about the lunch selections? I grew up eating German food (lived close to army base, friends with German mothers ) as well as Hungarian (grandmother). I love Schnitzel, red cabbage, the vinegared green beans, potato salad, you name it. My older daughter, age 9 , loves german potato salad, DD7 and DH, are unconverted as of yet. Are there any "non-German" items for them to eat? I'd love to try lunch or dinner there during our upcoming trip

we ate there on our first wdw trip 20 yrs ago and hadn't been back! went this last trip and i was pleasantly surprised by the food.. i like german food( never met a dumpling i didnt like:) ) and liked this as well, especially the little jam topped almond cookie bars... yummy( got the recipe but it didn;t really tell you how to make it!)

do not remember the whole menu but know there was roast pork, roasted chicken and some other "non german" things( like salad) might have been some kind of fish. do not know if there was the usual wdw buffet for kids section, do not recall seeing one but i might have been concentrating on the rest !

While I love the atmosphere I'm not a fan of the food. It's a buffet there's got to something I like, wrong DH, myself and grandchildren will not be returning.

I know this restaurant gets great reviews thought, so don't go by me, odd taste buds I guess.

My DH has always wanted to eat at Biergarten so this past Nov. I made PS's for lunch as a SURPRISE!!! We had such a great time, everyone in our party except my 2 DS's (sent them to America for a Hamburger) LOVED IT.
Looking forward to going there again on our next trip in a few years.

We have eaten there often since '94. We enjoy it and always hve a good time. They used to serve a wonderful cake-the Americanized name was Bee Sting Cake. The last time we had this was in '99, they stopped making it sometime after that. The first time we went, it was not a buffet. Not sure when they changed to buffet.

This is my DH's very favorite place in the world- "literally!" We are going there on his birthday this year- do they do anything special for a birthday?

Had lunch there for the first time last April, with just one friend and we thought what a great place it would be for a group. In October I'm having dinner with some of my TAGLIARCHY pals! Now THAT is going to be a party! ::yes::

It is a must do for our family. It is 15 DS favorite restaurant anywhere. Lasty trip we had a group of 8, from ages 4-61 and everyone enjoyed it.
