Afternoon everyone! :sunny:

Well I have just finished reading the fourth edition of the DCL Passporter and still I have questions!

:chat:

I have also read "A Brits Guide to Orlando" along with the third edition of the DCL passporter and the binder edition of the Passporter WDW Resort (I love to read!) so there are some questions which have not yet been answered. And since you lot seem to be seriously smart cookies when it comes to cruising, I thought I'd ask here!

1. The Door Signs - how do people get them to look so professional? Is there a template somewhere and what material is it printed onto? Only equipment I have at home (apart from the PC) is a laminator, scanner, confetti type stuff and a will to learn how to do this! I have seen a website on these and they are seriously good!

2. Reason why I picked the Costa Maya trip is that my DH loves history and I thought he would love to see the Mayan Ruins/historical sites. However, he won't do this type of excursion because he believes that our 6 year old DD would be bored and this trip is really for her(and if I'm being honest this is really for me!). Anyone got previous experience of this (think some have), would she be bored?

3. Is it possible that by the time we are allowed to book excursions (5th June) that there will be limited choice left?

4. Do most people use TA's to book their trips? I know Andrew said in a previous post that you could transfer a booking but what are the advantages? Is it to the TA's that people are requesting a particular dining rotation or a early/late seating change?

Thanks so much... I'll try to keep the questions to a minimum in future!

:thanks:

Moira.

Here is a copy of a sign I made for Pirate Night that I will put on our door. The main picture I scanned into my computer from a lithograph that we received on our August 2004 cruise to San Juan. The "red" Pirates IN the Caribbean Party pic (center bottom) was also scanned into the computer from one of the bandanas we received on the 2004 cruise. The other pics I got somehwere online. I use my Print Shop Deluxe program to make the signs, then I print them on magnetic paper sheets.

I've made a few door signs today, and I still have at least one more to make for our May 13th cruise, a very special birthday sign for my mom!!!

Moria: Don't worry about asking alot of questions.............that's one way to make time go by faster. :rotfl2:

1. Do a search on the main DIS for door signs and there will be ALOT of links to come up that will give you different ideas and suggestions on how people make there and where you can get FREE clip art. If you have trouble finding PM me and I will be happy to find for you. :thumbsup2

2. First time going on this for me so the only thing I know about it is from what I read.........Alot of walking. If your DD is doing good in the clubs I believe you could check her in there while you & DH do the Ruins tour? :confused3

3. It is my belief that DCL allows a certain amount of spots for each section. So even though I can make my reservations 105 days out they are only alotting a certain number of spots in each category so at the 90 day mark and 75 day mark there will be some. Now there may not be alot but I can't see DCL just opening it ALL up at the 105 day mark as it wouldn't be fair to the rest and nobody would ever be able to make reservations for anything so this is what I have heard and the way it was explained to me made sense now I can only hope I explained it to you well enough. :rotfl2:

4. It's a personal choice. I have always booked through DCL. It wasn't untill recently that I have met a nice TA ( Bev ) so you never know. :rolleyes1

Hope I helped......... :goodvibes

Andy: Awesome sign as usual :cheer2: I have been looking for some Disney pirate scenes, could you email me some or tell me where to find? Thanks, Tina

Tina, I got a lot of my pirate stuff from just doing a google search on pirate costumes, then doing a right click with my mouse if there was something I liked and saved it in "My Pictures" file.

I just made a door sign celebrating my mom's 70th birthday, I'm going to put it on our door when my mom isn't at the cabin and "surprise" her with it. If y'all hear a loud scream on May 13th, it will be me pulling the dagger out of my back, LOL!!! :rotfl2:

If you'd like to see the sign, click here: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=12497396&postcount=918

Andy,

I LOVE your signs, they look brill! Never heard of magnetic paper but that doesn't mean that I couldn't get it... Will take a good look now that I know it exists... My mom is also 70 this year (June 5th) and we are having a party for her in Cashel, County Tipperary (you might know it from the song..."It's a long way to Tipperary"!). Your mom's sign is really lovely, she is a lucky mom to be loved so much! Looks like she is with a sailor in one of the photos, my DH is an Electrical PO in the Irish Navy, so my wedding photo was a bit like that too!

Tina, Thanks as always from you and your really cute dog (is he/she a Highland Terrier??). You always explain things well - it's all very clear now.

That's a good suggestion about my DD and the club, she's gets on well with other kids so hopefully she will want to stay..She is currently big into Bratz and Power Rangers(??) (I mistakenly thought that SPD and Space something were the same thing, she was not impressed) In the meantime, I will keep the Jungle Beach break on the back burner....

Marla, Thanks so much for re-directing us back to 2004. Tina, was that your wedding you were organizing? Is this your honeymoon cruise and is that why you've booked the romantic break? If so, would love to hear all details (I am such a saddo romantic!)

Now it is precisely 12 midnight here in Ireland so Tina, I'd like to say a big

:shamrock: :shamrock: :shamrock: :bday: :shamrock: :shamrock: to you! You have been making my day for the past number of weeks and surprising others with Birthday wishes so I am glad to get in there first and wish you a great day from across the water...

Night all...Moira.

:Pinkbounc Well, here's wishing our very own Tina
a Very Merry Happy Birthday!!!
:Pinkbounc

Yep, that sailor is my father. He was in the Navy when they got married, he was 20 and my mom was 16, yes, I said 16, they were married on July 4, 1952.

HAPPY 21ST BIRTHDAY TINA (again) lol
:cheer2:  party: :bday: :cake: :dancer: :rockband:

Wishing you a very very HAPPY BIRTHDAY and many more.

Hi everyone,

One of my dogs passed away a few hours ago. :sad1: :sad1: I have had 2 toy poodles (mother and son). Don't really know what happened except we were watching TV and I heard the dog make a screaming noise. I ran in to the kitchen where both dogs were and Teri (dog) was lying there almost looked like she was having a seizure. To make a long story short we took her to the animal hospital and she didn't make it. I think she was gone instantly while here. I don't think it sunk in yet. I can't believe it. :sad2:

Bev paw:

Bev.. I am so sorry... I know how much like family pets really are.. You were there to give comfort when needed... your in my prayers. Did she ever have a seizure before? :grouphug:

Bev,

You poor thing, it's tough when a pet dies, they are part of your family too.

Was she old? That can be worse because they have been around for so long.

Tina, so sorry to hear this news, we will keep you and your family in our thoughts and prayers!!! Here is a :grouphug: from us to you and yours!!!

Hi Guys, remember me

I just wanted to pop on and see how you are all doing, it wont be very much longer now and Im still heartbroken that I wont be there to share it all with you. :grouphug:

Vicki is working very hard for her upcoming GCSE's and we have had 2 interviews at the college she hopes to get into and all is looking well, as long as she gets the grades she needs, she will have to sign up on August 23rd, so you can see why we had to cancel.

She has now got herself a part time job on the weekends working in a childrens indoor playarea, and she has to dress up for some of the childrens birthday partys as Jazzy The Lion, which she loves, who knows this could be good practice to be a Disney Character

We are busy making plans for out WDW trip in October and managed to get out tickets today for MNSSHP on the 30th October.

I do hope you are all well and just to let you know that I think about you all often. :grouphug:

Andy my dear friend, not long for your trip now, any chance of sneaking me into your case. :thumbsup2

Tina - Happy birthday hon, Im so sorry to hear of your loss, your always in my thoughts, I hope you still have my email address if you need me you know where I am :grouphug:

Bev- Im so sorry to hear about your loss as well, what a shock that must have been for you, Lots of hugs for you, How is the travel business going?? :grouphug:

Terry,- I do hope you are well, and the family are well too. :grouphug:

Ed, Diane, Doreen, Darlene and anybody else I may have forgotten, best wishes to you all. :grouphug:

Hopefully talk to you all soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Sue I am so sad too that we won't get to meet on the cruise! I hope we can meet up at DW some day. We will be there for Thanksgiving (if we find some decent airfare that is) so we will miss you by weeks! :sad2:

Oh Diane, what a shame :sad2: Im sure sometime in the future an oppertunity to meet at WDW will arise, fingers crossed :thumbsup2

Hi everyone :wave2:

Andy: Congrats on Cinnamon! :cat:

Bev: I'm so sorry for your loss :( I know how pets can become just like members of the family. :grouphug:

Tina: I'm so sorry on the loss of your grandfather :( :( Our thoughts are with you

Doreen: That creme brulee' sounds wonderful, it's my all-time favorite dessert! :teeth:

Moira: Never hesitate to ask a question here! We're more than happy to gives answer, if we know them! lol :scratchin We did the all-day Tulum ruins excursion when we went to Cozumel in 2004, but there are *much* shorter ruins excursions available on the island of Cozumel itself, as well as on Costa Maya.

Sue: There's a slight chance we'll be at WDW at the same time! Last year DH and I went for the very end of October and we really enjoyed the weather and low crowds, so we may be going then again. If we do go, we will have to set up a time to meet! :)

Diane: DH wasn't feeling well yesterday, sinus problems, so we ended up staying home. He's feeling a bit better today. We've been to Fire & Ice a few times now, we enjoy it, especially the Sunday Brunch. They have DIS meets in Boston pretty regularly, so we'll probably be at the next one :)

Marla: I can't wait for the cruise either!! :hourglass :sunny:
