The CM I talked to, put me on hold, then came back and told me that Disney Dollars have now been discontinued??!?!? And that they don't even sell them in the parks anymore?

Can someone please tell me if this is true??? Disney Dollars are so much more fun than Gift Cards!

They would still have to accept the ones you already have, correct? We still have some left from our trip to DLR last year that we plan on taking with us this next week.

I'm thinking (hoping) that CM was wrong, especially after I talked to a CM at Disneyland...I can't see how they would get rid of them.

Yes, they will still accept the ones you already have.

That's too bad. Our kids loved getting disney dollars from the tooth fairy and for other holidays.

Can I ask who you called specifically? You said "Disney" but that could be a number of different departments. For instance, they may have discontinued selling them at the Disney Store but still sell them at the parks.

As far as I know (I'm a Disney Store CM), the Disney Dollars aren't going anywhere. At this time of year, they maybe hard to come by because of demand, but I doubt that DD would disappear. :)

My sister tried to get Disney dollars for the kids for Christmas. She went to our local Disney store and they said they are no longer carrying them and that she should get a gift card. The woman couldn't understand what the difference was and told my sister that "kids today would rather have a gift card" :confused3

She called my uncle who lives near Orlando and he bought some Disney dollars and mailed them to her. The kids will get them tonight.

Perhaps it's on a store-by-store basis whether they decide to carry them or not. It is disappointing because my kids enjoyed getting a few throughout the holidays before our trip and used them for their spending money. They also like to keep the different $1 ones as souvineers. I still have some from when I was a kid.

DH and I both received Disney Dollars for Christmas today. I don't know when they were purchased, though. I assume the giver purchased them at the Disney Store but I couldn't say for certain.

We bought Disney DOllars at the DIsney store a week before Christmas- they had run out of Mickey ones except for $1 but no mention of discontinuing them. We just had to get Cinderella, and lots of $1 Mickeys:)

Oh I hope not...I have been planning on buying some so I don't spend that money now and can only use it at Disney :(

i would say that maybe due to the holidays they arre hard to find in the matter of a week at my local disney store they went from not having them to having them as i had to get the gift cards to use as gifts as No DD were in stock. but last monday my parents got me some for xmas

I agree with the "Hard to come by" answer. DH got some to put with our surprise WDW gift, although they only had $10 denominations, and my friend went to get some shortly after and they were out. This was at The Disney Store BTW.
