Call or look online for additional availability on 4/3 deal?

Anyone know how often the website gets updated with cancelations?

I am currently booked at CBR and thinking about upgrading to a deluxe, but want a lesser priced view using the 4/3 deal than what is currently available. I have tried both calling and looking on the website to see if something cheaper at the deluxes shows up.

I know people cancel and (am assuming) those rooms open up and are available for booking again. And, I am assuming this happens every morning before the call center opens. Is this correct?

I hate to call every morning and ask a poor CM about this over-over when I can just pop online and have my answer in 3 minutes.

What are your thoughts on the best way to do this - call or look online? If it's calling, do I need to do it at 7:00am?

Initially when we booked with the 4/3 deal all that was available for the Poly was MK View which is a lot more expensive than GV. I booked it with the hopes that GV or GV Club Level would open up which is what we really wanted. I kept checking the website and one day GV showed availability. Since I had already booked I called to get the reservation changed and the CM says she's not seeing any avialability at all at the Poly. I say to her I'm looking at it online right now. She doesn't know what to tell me. Needless to say, I kept her on the phone while I booked a duplicate reservation online and then she cancelled out my existing reservation.
 
i agree to snag it when you see it...

i wanted to change our cruise dates...the one i wanted finally had availability online...i called...waited on hold....had the cm try to change the dates...someone else had snagged it while i was on hold! now we have NO cruise!

next time i will book and then call to cancel the previous ressie!

This gives me hope for our trip. I booked 4/3 gv at poly and we want a GVC room. I keep checking online but haven't found anything and also called. Did she have to do something while you made the duplicate ressie?
 

I say Call. I always feel that they can help you better than doing it on line.
And you will always get a different cast member anyway. But if they say there is nothing obviously keep looking on line.
I guess I"m saying... do both :rotfl:
 
This happen to last year. I had two ressies , one for me & one for DS. We had it at the BWI but DS wanted to change to the Yacht Club. I called & presto they had two lagoon views rooms. She switch mine over then proceeded to do DS. Well someone got the other one so I had to settle for a garden view. She said she was sorry but to keep calling back. I called in two weeks later to make a payment on both ressie & check no luck but after I hung up I was looking at Disney web site & there it was. I had my credit card still on the table so I was going to book it & call & cancel but decided to call back. I told the CM lucky I got the same one :) and I told her to grab it or would hit send on the web site. She grab it & changed it from garden view to lagoon view. She said it was funny & good fortune that someone cancel & I was looking.:goodvibes So it good to check web site all day just about not just at 7am. Some people call later in morning to cancel. who knows? Good luck !

No, she didn't have to do anything. I just asked her to wait on the line a minute so I could get the GV booked online before I had her cancel MKV just in case something weird happened. It let me book the duplicate ressie no problem. It generated another confirmation number and I ended up with a credit on on my cc and then another charge for the new ressie.
 
I just changed my reservation today to a different room. Originally, I had a "Garden View" room booked. I decided that it wasn't worth the money and I called to change to a standard room. Before I called, I looked first online and there were no "Garden View" rooms available. As soon as I hung up the phone and changed my res, I looked again and a "Garden View" came up. It seemed kind of immediate so I think the entire reservation system is in sync. I don't know if this helps but keep on looking.
 
Thanks everyone. It's good to know that rooms can pop back up in the system at anytime (or at least for 10 more days! ;) )
