For the past couple of years we have vacationed at Disneyworld many times. After our last trip this past July, family tells me they want to go somewhere else next time. :scared1: So.....I thought how about California. That way I can get in Disneyland. I have been to Lake Tahoe, but nowhere else in California.

I don't really know where to begin. There is so much to see and do in California. I am thinking either Disneyland area and San Diego or Disneyland then traveling towards northern California. It is DH, DD13 and DD10. We love theme parks and the outdoors. Any suggestions on where to start? :confused3

This would probably be our only trip to California while the kids are still young. Any advice? We would probably travel early June.

Thanks! :flower3:

First off, welcome to the California board from a fellow Texan who has been to WDW many times, but now prefers DLR. :hippie:

Secondly, you should "begin" by reading ALL of Hydroguy's tips but especially the tips for WDW vets:

www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1520483

Thirdly - You should consider 3-4 days (or 5) at DLR resort & the remaining days in SD & LA. (or the remaining days in LA/up the coast toward Monterey & or Yosemite). Take a look at SpartanGirl's trip report for the SanFran/Yosemite/Cal Coast idea (& great pics).

If only a week, I'd do 4 days at DLR, 2 days at SD & 1-2 days in LA. Early June was good for us because us Texans (& Arizonians) get out of school before the SoCal folks do, so not as crowded.

With your aged children, I'd do the SD Zoo (& if you don't do seaworld in SA like we do) Seaworld. Lots & Lots to do in SD & LA.

Read up & post back after you've got enough info to be dangerous. Oh...& i lived in Houston 20+ years & fyi - the temps for us in early June were low 80's with 10-20% humidity. (Take THAT WDW. :lmao: )

Here are three threads that I was involved in which also might be of interest. (Discussing EE, Jedi, & DLR park hopping).

Wow! Thanks for all the info fellow Texan. I have a lot of reading to do. Can't wait to get started.

I've been wanting to go to Disneyland for the past several years, but my WDW addiction has been controlling me. :rotfl: 80 degrees in June sounds heavenly. July's heat was really hard on us. It's hot here in Texas, but I'm not used to being out in it all day.

Now that the family wants to try something new, DL will be a great choice. I am open for up to 2 wks in California depending on how it fits into my budget at the time.

I'll start reading and get back to you with more questions!:thumbsup2
