The DLR website says refurb, but in case you did not know, there was an accident on Screamin July 29 and it has been down ever since for investigation. It could be open by late October. No one knows.

I am amazed at how long it is taking to get it back up and running. I could understand with an older ride that it might take time to update the ride technology in order to make it safer, but with a ride so new, it seems to me it wouldn't need as much rennovation or repairing. Is it something political happening here?

My trip is planned for mid-November, and according to DL's website, California Screamin' will still be closed at that time. :(

I do not know the details, but DLR has to convince an independent agency that the problem that caused the accident has been resolved. There was a rumor last week that a new part had been ordered from Europe.

I think the DLR schedule is showing Screamin down thru November because they do not know when it will be up again. There were also rumors (don't you love those rumors?) that before the accident Screamin was scheduled for refurb in early 2006, and that DLR might just do the refurb now and not wait. This will keep it down longer but allow it to be up in 2006.

There just has not been any solid info on when it may be up again. We are going for a day trip around Thanksgiving and are hoping they have it up again, as we missed it in August.

it would be appear there is a major argument still brewing between intamin the rides designers and builders, and disney operations.. Disney operations altered the braking timing on the return to station flat part of the ride in order to increase capacity and loading times however they did this without consulting intamin.

However Disney have yet to stand up to the press and actually say Ok we did it and its our fault and Intamin are a little upset by this as it tarnishes there own reputation.. Hence Intamin now seem to be throwing as any spanners in the works as possible such as supplying custom built replacement parts...

Last I heard, Screamin' will be down for at least 6 months. We're headed there for Columbus Day weekend and was disappointed to find this out.

All I can say is DCA is going to have very low attendance which means no money for DCA if they don't get their act together.

California Screamin is like part of the main attraction there besides Tower of Terror.

Something like this shouldn't have to take this long to fix. JMO.

I keep my ear to the ground, and have heard nothing like this. It may be true, but at this point I would say this is only speculation.

It is annoying that this ride is down. I have never been to DCA and was really looking forward to it, however, I say safety first.

If it really is down over some internal arguement, that's one thing. But if it's safety, that's important.

When a ride does down for an unknown amount of time Disney automatically marks it down for months. I think Screamin is marked down until close to 2007. This does not mean it will be down until then, but gives cms a date to tell people without having to keep changing it.

I've been away for 3 weeks, but I haven't yet heard that Cal OSHA is finished with their invesitgation, and until they are Disney will not say in any what what caused the accident. So even though intamin says the fault lays on Disney's shoulders by changing the braking system, Disney will not confirm this until the invesitgation is completed. Also the changes disney made were signed off on by cal osha to begin with, even though intamin had no input on the changes being made.

With California Screamin' down, it really hurts the sales for DCA. Mom and I were there July 30, right after it happened and I was bummed to hear the news. I hope they can get it reopened soon.
