I will be heading down the Disney World for my first anniversary in Sept. We are planning on making reservations at California Grill for our anniversary night. I read on Disnye's website that you can call up to 48 hours in advanced and pre-order a custom cake. Does anyone know if this is correct? If so, I would like to be able to have them make a small round cake, replicating our wedding cake. Does anyone know how I can go about doing this? It is really simple, white icing with red roses on top. Nothing too fancy.

Also, does California Grill have a dress code? I didn't think so, however someone mentioned to me today they thought they might?

One more thing, all those who have tried CG please post your thoughts and suggestions.

Thanks for the help!

Hi Pigleet, and Happy Anniversary!

CGs dress code is "resort casual," which basically means no swimwear and no tank tops. September is warm so you will see people in t-shirts and shorts as well as people who are pretty dressed up.

CG is truly fine dining and is arguably one of the best restaurants in Florida. Having said that, it's not for everybody. If you do a search on this board you will find lots of opinions, most of them very positive. Personally it's one of our favorites. My advice is: if the menu appeals to you, go for it! If it doesn't, maybe you should try somewhere else.

Sorry but I can't help about the cake; I'm sure someone else will know...

Like Bob said - dress code is resort casual, but they don't enforce it. I like to dress a little for dinners like CG, so it wasn't a big deal for me.... You will see everything from shorts & tees to suits & dresses.....

DH ordered me a Birthday Cake for our dinner there in April. It was from an offsite location, where that is, I have no idea. I do know that it was not made at CG. Our cake was chocolate, I don't know whether DH ordered that because I'm a chocoholic or if that is all they offer. I'll ask him when he gets home....

I loved CG - enough that I am eeking out a meal there on DS & I's budget trip this August (not that CG & Budget belong anywhere in the same sentance, lol) I thought it was one of the best dining experiences I've had in WDW....I think it's a wonderful choice for celebrating your anniversary. Even if you aren't directly next to a window, the views from all around are spectacular. It is a bit noisy, tho - not quiet & intimate - but still very nice.

Enjoy & have a Wonderful Anniversary!

Defiantely try the CA Grill at night- hopefully during WIshes- they dim the lights & pipe in the soundtrack! It is AMAZING!
We love it there- call them directly about the cake, they should be able to help you.
This was a huge splurge for us... and by far worth every penny we paid & then some... :goodvibes

I talked to DH & he said they did offer either vanilla or chocolate - He said he thinks they will probably be able to work things out for your anniversary cake.
Good Luck!

DH and I never go "casual." He always wears dress shorts and a collared shirt. I wear a dressy outfit or a simple black dress with good shoes.

I would not wear "park" clothes. It's part of the great experience.

Thanks so much for all the replies! I plan on bringing the dress I wore to our rehersal dinner. I'll be sure to remind DH to bring something besides all t-shirts.
I might look into having them do the cake. Although I mentioned to DH and I think he might have been planning something as well.

Thanks again for all the replies :)
