California Grill

Yes it is. Also I’ve heard people have pretty good luck walking up to the bar without a reservation and then they can order off the full dinner menu.
Thank you. Excellent. We have reservations but prefer to hang out in the lounge to eat

Unless this has changed very recently, the lounge space is being used for regular tables given the spacing requirements / need to make up some real estate - not for walk-up lounge seating. The bar, however, is open with limited seating (we’ve eaten at the bar several times since reopening).

Do they allow kids at the bar seats?

In December, we walked up and asked if there were any seats available at the bar. 5 minutes later we were allowed to head up. We ordered food and drinks. Me, wife, 9 and 7 year old daughters ate at the bar. And now I will dream about the Spicy Kazan Roll. Yum! 🍣

Yes, I don’t believe there is any age restriction at the bar. I usually get some sideways comments around here when I post such experiences, but I sat at the bar in December with my 10 year old with no issue.
Thanks! Our guy is only seven but is a seasoned restaurant diner, loves CA Grill, and would be fine sitting at the bar :)

What time did you walk up, if you recall?

It was a last minute decision. We were heading out of MK back to RIV and I asked if anyone was hungry. Of course my girls said yes lol. We went to CR and just gave it a shot. It was probably around 9:00 pm. But we also did a walk up in October. We added on 2 surprise days at the end of our Universal trip and booked CR. We had zero dining reservations so we walked up at the Wave which said 10 minutes or so. While waiting I went up to California Grill just to see and they were able to seat us then also.

We have gotten lucky at quite a few restaurants at WDW and got seated without reservations a lot. But once I really really wanted to eat at STK Orlando and did not have reservations. The young lady at the podium said "I'm so sorry, we are only taking reservations". I placed a $20 on her stand. She smiled and said one moment. They seated us within 15 minutes. I firmly believe there is always a table. Sometimes it just cost a little more.

Not sure where I went wrong as a parent but mine now eats off the adult menu in most places. At CG he ordered a more expensive entree than me!
lol. that was my younger brother growing up--he'd always zero in on the 'surf-n-turf' level entree which would always be the most expensive thing on the menu.

Our dad wound up nicknaming him "King Louie" after Louis XIV 😄

Have a reservation in June (too far out of course for booking) but looking at availability looks like reservations at California Grill are still hard to get (even more so maybe with less tables!). Looking to plan a birthday dinner for 2 sometime over a 5 day period and anyone have success at making a recent reservation (perhaps during your early hotel reservation window)?

I've had success recently reserving within a week or two of when I wanted to go.
