Hi guys,

I could use some California Grill advice. My 25th birthday is April 25, which is a Grad Night, so no fireworks. Still, it would be nice to have a window seat at California Grill, overlooking the castle.

I made a reservation for 9:45, hoping that it won't be too busy at that point and that we would have better odds for window seating. Is there anything else we can do to have a better shot? I thought about wearing my birthday button. :)

Thanks!

Tell them you want window seat, and that you're willing to wait.

While waiting, sit at the bar or in their "lounge."
If you have a drink there, you'll have great views of the Magic Kingdom.
make sure you go out on the observation deck.
Even though there's no fireworks, it's still a must to go out ther and soak in that view.

You've already made the reservation? Call back and remind them that it's a special birthday dinner. That might help, too.

And maybe get there about 9 pm, giving them plenty of time to find you that table. It shouldn't be that difficult since there are no fireworks that night. Diana

Do be sure to call back and have them note the birthday on your ps. We were there last week celebrating our anniversary. The CM who took the ps had noted that it was our anniversary and we wanted a window seat. We got there and it was PACKED. We were told it was a 30-40 minute wait so I didn't even bother mentioning the window (although the hostess wished us Happy Anniversary). Much to my delight, after 30 minutes we were seated in a perfect table at the window in a quieter corner, the one closest to the MK. A few minutes later the fireworks started - Magic!

Thanks for the responses... I did mention that it would be my birthday when I made the PS, but the CM wasn't great, so I'm assuming she didn't note it in the record. When I asked her a couple questions, her response was "I don't know. I don't work at California Grill."

At any rate, we're going to be staying at the Poly. I thought we'd dress for dinner, go down to watch the 9:00 EWP, then when it's over hop on the monorail over to the Contemporary. Sounds like a great evening to me. :)

When we ate there in 2001, we sat on the side facing EPCOT, and could see Illimunations.

I thought I heard that the observation decks were lcosed now, though.

Have a great dinner!

We had dinner there last Saturday night and the observation deck was open as we strolled out there while waiting for our table. I've read on these boards that they no longer let people who aren't dining there just come up and go out on the deck....don't know if that is true though.
