california grill question

it says for california grill that after oct. 2 they are not booking due to a special dining experience for the anniversary. i was wondering what that would be and also will there be any other special dining experiences in october for the anniversary and what does that even mean?

I don't know that they've announced the details yet, but last month they announced a special experience coming for the 50th. I get the impression it's about an experience around food, alcohol and fireworks! But I have not seen any details.

I would guess that the special 50th anniversary experience will be similar to the New Year’s and /or Christmas reservations, only prolonged to continue for more dates.

Many of us are waiting for them to release details of what this will be and how much it will cost.
We were looking forward to going back to CG as we do every trip.
The details could change our plans.

A 'rumor' provided by my Waiter earlier this week was.......

CA Grill MAY be going to a prix fixe (set price) menu.

I could be cynical by suggesting that it's yet another way for Disney to increase revenue......Disney did a similar thing at Be Our Guest.....

The changes at Be Our Guest had nothing to do with an anniversary.

And I imagine that the 'rumored' pricing changes I mentioned for CA Grill, while coinciding with the Anniversary, will be a permanent change to increase revenue at the restaurant.

An added result would be all of the, "Can I order only dessert to see the fireworks from CA Grill?," threads stopping on DisBoards.

Wasn’t talking about BOG which I’m familiar of in an unfamiliar way, LOL. That restaurant changed its menu about 2 years and as much as I struggled to like the place it failed to change my mind about the end user value of character meals in general.

As for CG, they’ve already experimented with a prix fixe menu and it probably is successful enough they’d like to continue for at least the last quarter of the fiscal year. Will it be a permanent change for years to come? I’m not willing to bet on it at this time.

I’ve never thought of Be Our Guest as a “character” meal. Beast walks across the dining room maybe once during dinner and then you can choose to get a pic after dinner. The newer prix-fixe menu doesn’t interest me in the least so we only at dinner there before the changes. We would grab a PPO breakfast while they were still serving it though so hoping that comes back.

I’m interested to see what CG comes up with. We loved the brunch the one time we were able to get a reservation and had dinner there our last trip-app, entree and dessert so I would have no problem if they were deterring people from just ordering apps with whatever new experience they come up with.
