I'd like to surprise my wife for our 17th anniversary and schedule a meal to watch the wishes fireworks while we are there in Dec. There are 9-10 PM times available. Here is my problem. We will have our DD 10 with us. That is way too late for us to eat dinner and I doubt there is much DW and DD will eat. I know they will go for the desserts there. Is it allowed to just get desserts or would that be frowned upon? Thanks

I'm not sure if it's frowned on but I wouldn't just go for dessert. But I wouldn't go to any restaurant really just for desserts. I would keep trying because this is one of the places you need a credit card and they wouldn't have no shows or too many at least.

I am not 100% sure, but I don't believe you have to have a credit card to make an adr (correct me if I am wrong).

And yes if you want just dessert it is ok to do just that.

WDW restaurants are like any other restaurant. (well except for the characters and CRT like venues)

I have eaten at Brown Derby just for dessert and it was fine. It to is a signature place and had no trouble.

Again if that is what you want to do go for it. Besides, if they just get dessert and you feel you need to do something else get an appetizer to split or something.

Take your wife and enjoy!!!

I can't comment one the rest of the thread, but I can confirm that California Grill does require a credit card number for an ADR, unlike other restaurants. They only charge it, though, if you don't show or cancel.
