Love CG but never been to FF. My main interest in trying FF is I want to check out The Boardwalk. Should I eat FF or eat at CG and go to Boardwalk after for drinks?

If the California Grill menu is more appealing to you, then you should stick with that one. Flying Fish, however, is amazing. It's one of our favorites... we actually went twice during our last trip.

Something to keep in mind, if you are driving, is that you are not likely to be able to park at Boardwalk unless you have a dining reservation. So, if you were planning to drive there to check out the Boardwalk then you might want to have the reservation so you can access their parking lot. If that's not an issue then I would go with the menu that looks best.

I've only eaten at Flying Fish and it's great. The pork belly appetizer is incredible.

I don't think you can go wrong either way.

California Grill for your meal and Flying Fish for drinks. My wife and I have dined at Flying Fish twice, the first time our meal was very good, second time very disappointing. We have never had a bad meal at California Grill.

FF is a must do for us. Great service, atmosphere, and oh right, food. At this point I rank it higher than bluezoo for it's superior staffing.
Yes to the pork belly appetizer as well as the grilled romaine, and crispy oysters. In the entree portion of the menu anyway they cook the scallop dish is fine by me; never had a steak there that wasn't enjoyable. The pastry chef is a true gem and every dessert on the menu is worthy with special kudos to the "sea shell" plate. The sweet endings are not only pretty to look at but taste even better which is something many other WDW eateries should emulate.

Not to say I would turn my nose up at dinner (or brunch) at CG. Best restaurant in the monorail hotels w/ the exception of V+A to my way of thinking.

Still, as you specifically want to visit the Boardwalk, I'd eat dinner at FF.
Oh right and if it fits your schedule have Sunday brunch at CG;).

Enjoy whereever you choose to eat:).

I would say that they are both great restaurants. However my vote would be for the Flying Fish. The atmosphere and food are excellent and being at the Boardwalk just adds to the overall enjoyment.

I feel Cali grill is so hard to get because of its location and view, making it seem like the “better” choice. In my opinion, Flying Fish is slightly better and one of my new faves! If you’ve never tried it definitely do so!

Flying Fish by a mile for me. The food is great, restaurant beautiful (granted no fireworks view) and the service impeccable. I’ve found California Grill to be rather loud and inconsistent when it comes to service.
