California Grill Noise Level

How loud is the CG? I have read on here and it is very noisy. I would really like to eat hear, however don't wan't to be uncomfortable.

We were there last night and CG was busy for the holiday. I will say that the noise level was loud. Our previous visits to CG, the back ground noise never seemed that loud. Also, I was surprised on how casual some of the guests were dressed.

We went in January during a very slow time in order to see the fireworks with dinner and it was incredibly loud in the main room, I would not have enjoyed dining there as much with it being so loud. Thankfully our table was in the much smaller wine room which was very quiet and a much nicer atmosphere in my opinion. Right before the fireworks started I just picked up my wine glass and walked out to the patio area and had a wonderful time.

We found it loud! We were worried about taking our 10 month old baby, and almost 5 yr old, who are very well-behaved, but we didn't want to ruin any quiet/romantic moments for people. None of that was happening, I can assure you! It was very loud, noisy and busy and we were there in May of '08, so not a busy time at all.

We felt badly for the young couple behind us who was trying to have a romantic dinner - they looked very frustrated and confused by all of the noise in there.

CG used to be a nice, rather upscale restaurant with beautiful views and a romantic place for a couple to have dinner. Those days are gone. Now it's more like eating at a coffee shop. If you dine late, reservation after fireworks, you still have a chance of getting a quiet meal here.

If you are in a great mood, CG is festive and lively, which is usually how we feel about it. Otherwise, it's just loud.

Yep, it's loud. So much so that I won't return there. If I'm going to eat food of that caliber, I don't want to do so surrounded by kids yelling, crying, and running around, as well as waiters trying to DODGE those kids, and yelling to each other, to the kitchen staff, etc. The place is a zoo. And, I'm going to go on record to say that the food is not THAT good, and incredibly overpriced.

Try Bluezoo at the Dolphin. THAT was signature dining, and cost LESS than CA Grill for far superior quality food AND service.

Definitely try and get the "no kid" section. We were there in December and got lucky with the wine room as well. I wouldn't go there for the romance and it's a pretty up beat atmosphere but I don't want to hear or see kids running around either. Get the cheesecake. It's delish!

We've eaten there twice. Once about an hour and a half before the fireworks and another around 5-5:30 p.m. The earlier time was MUCH quieter. My Dad is deaf in his left ear and is very hard of hearing in noisy restaurants. When we were there during the later time he couldn't hear a word we were saying (there were an abundance of kids running around the restaurant playing ). As soon as the fireworks were over the place cleared out and it was so peaceful.

I will say that everyone seems to be blaming kids for running around, and when we went, there weren't lots of little kids, but big 'kids' aka 30-40 year olds making a lot of noise! Bar was incredibly loud, and there were loud tables of adults making noise throughout much of the restaurant.

I'll second that.

We frequent the Cali Grill but always ask for and so far have always received a window seat. We sort of feel like we are on our own and unaware of the loud surroundings when we are talking to each other or are staring out at the beautiful view. To us, without a window seat, the atmosphere is much better at Blue Zoo, Il Mulino and Citrico's

I went here in aug and it wasnt 2 loud. We went late and saw the fireworks from our seats..it was wonderful!

I don't remember it being loud. We sat next to the window and bar and it was fine. Not sure if this was a fluke. It was just me & DH so maybe we sat away from large tables?

Geez you guys have me scared that it's going to be a real zoo in there The wine room option sounds very nice or a window seat. I really like sushi and have never been to CR, at least not inside. I have the ressie for CG, but still keep thinking about switching to Citricos.

I was there for Valentine's Day this past February and had a wonderful time. We had a window seat during Wishes and I can honestly say that I don't remember noise being a big issue. If it is, I think you might chalk it up to bad acoustics, as opposed to noisy guests.

We had wonderful service from check-in downstairs, to the bartender, the host upstairs, and our server.

I also really loved our meal. In fact, it was my favorite the whole trip and the one upscale place I will probably save for on our next trip.

Having said that, I've only eaten there once.

We went last month and were very surprised at the noise level. We loved the food, fireworks were amazing, but noise did damper the mood! You know it's loud when a 4 and 6 year old complain that it's loud.

Strange! We've dined there several times and have never gotten the impression of it being loud. It's not especially quiet (open kitchen) but I wouldn't call it a "marching band." We love CG!
