Can anyone suggest a particular martini at the California Grill at the Contemporary Resort? Maybe a "Signature" martini? :smooth:

I second this request!! :drinking1

subscribing to this thread...I will be there in Nov!

I was planning on my usual...vodka dirty martini...and HOPING they have blue cheese stuffed olives like so many of the onsite lounges/restaurants do! :cool1:

<cranky old man>
These sweet, Vodka things being served in martini glasses aren't martinis. They are classed up frou-frou drinks. Not that there is anything wrong with frou-frou drinks, just don't go calling them martinis.

I don't care what anyone (not even James Bond) thinks. A martini contains gin and vermouth. And it's best darn drink there is. Call your gin (I like Quintessential, or Bombay Sapphire if they don't have it), order it dry, and if you *must* do something wacky, get it with a lime instead of an olive.

I'm curious about any specialty drinks they may have here too. Anyone?

Don't remember any signature martinis during our visit in May. DW went with the Appletini.

I did have two nice Tanqueray Ten (very dry) martinis, but no blue cheese olives. The only place I have seen blue cheese olives is Shulas.

Mmmm, trust me, they have BC stuffed olives at the Territory Lounge at WL...and also at Blue Zoo...and I remember them somewhere else, but I am drawing a blank right now! I will have to try Shula's...nothing like a vodka dirty martini and a hunk of beef! YUM!

A 'dirty martini' uses a splash of the brine from the olive jar, but please do not use the oil from oil packed ollives, it ruins the drink!

:wave: Waving hello to Poohbear, my fellow native Miamian!

Yup...just a little bit of brine from the olive jar.

I was desperate one night and out of green olives, so I tried to make a DM with kalamata olive juice. ICK! Don't ever try that!
