I really want to eat here on our next trip, but I'm afraid it's not kid friendy :( . My kids are well behaived in restaurants, as long as they are not too tired. When we go, my DS will be 8 1/2 & my DD will be 7 1/2. (They ate at Jiko's when they were 6 & 5 and did fine).

Do many people bring there children here?

Also, I plan on making PS for around the fireworks. Do they pipe the firework music through the speakers? How long before the fireworks start should I make a PS?

Thanks a bunch for the help!

At that age they should be fine.

I would make the PS for 1 1/2 hours prior to the fireworks. They do dim teh lights and pipe int he music.

If you'r iffy about taking the kids there, you might also want to consider Narcooses--it seems a little more casual to me, but is still VERY nice, and the food and service are FABULOUS!

We were there over Thanksgiving with my 2 nephews, 9 and 4. It was fine. They brought over crayons, and a plate of goldfish for them to snack on. The year before my 9 year old nephew was brought his food before the adults so he wouldn't get too bored. They are very accomodating. It is very kid friendly.

Agree - we have brought my son from the time he was 1. It is our favorite restaurant and we simply went early to get served faster and any long breaks we went for walks. They have lot's of neat things on the kid's menu - including rice krispie sushi for dessert. (Licorice on top of rice krispie cookies served with chopsticks - yum) the only negative - it can be a long dinner. It is noisy so noise isn't usually a problem and they cover the table with paper and you can keep entertained by drawing.

Thanks for all the information! I feel alot better now. I really wanted to dine at California Grill & see the fireworks, but I didn't want to show up & feel uncomfortable with my kids.

Now I have another great dinner to look forward to :p !

MamaKate, I would not hesitate to bring your children to CG! Our son was 6 when he made his first trip there and he loved it! We saw many other children there as well. Our waiter was extremely attentive with our son, talking directly to him, inquiring about his day, and goofing around with him. We were lucky to score a table by the window, and all thoroughly enjoyed the fireworks show during our dinner.

We enjoy California Grill between visits to Epcot and the Magic Kingdom. Our children love it, they are 3 and 5. This provides great downtime for the whole family from the hustle and bustle of the parks. Have a great time.

I'm glad to hear that the staff has "lightened up" as far as welcoming kids. We went during the first year or two that CG was opened and took four kids ages 5-11. We were uncomfortable. The kids behaved perfectly but we could not feel relaxed because of the staff. We may have to give it another try sometime.
