california grill how is it

we had our wedding dinner there in sept, and people still tell us how good the food was. we've been there a few times, and although its VERY pricey the filet is fantastic, and the view is amazing.
you hafta time your dinner 1 hour b4 Wishes so you can go out on the observation deck and watch the fireworks.

We love it! We try to go whenever we can, we have never had a dissapointing meal there and the service has always been wonderful.

I had a terrific dinner at California Grill. I had the pork loin with goat cheese polenta. The polenta was so good---really one of those rare culinary WOW moments. The meat was perfectly cooked. Also had the goat cheese ravioli as an appetizer and the presentation and taste were both excellent. I don't reall what I had for dessert, but I remembered that I enjoyed it as well.

California Grill has a great view and the staff encourage people to enjoy the outside deck. After dinner, I went onto the deck to watch the fireworks and then returned to the table for dessert.

The top floor. The California Grill is mentioned just about every day on this board, so if you click on the last few pages you're bound to found a thread in which all your questions (menu, dress code, fireworks) are answered.

california grille is our favorite restaurant. the food is outstanding and so is the staff. it's a great view of MK from 15 stories and you can see GF and the 7 seas lagoon just as well. it's also a great spot to see wishes. they have a spot outside the restaurant for those dining in the restaurant of course, to watch the show.

Love it, Love it, Love it!!! Food is amazing and service is fantastic. Time your dinner right for Wishes and you will never forget it. :goodvibes

We were extremely disapointed with the CG in September. The food was ok - no more than that - but the service was dismal and the suggested dress code was a joke - half the diners looked as though they'd just arrived from a water park wearing shorts, tank tops and flipflops. It was also EXREMELY noisy. Watching Wishes on the deck was great but we wouldn't bother with going there again. In my opinion, Jiko's is far superior.

We weren't terribly impressed with the food. Granted, it's been a number of years now since we've gone there, but the first time turned us off so much we've yet to return. It is a great location, but not worth the price in my book! ::MinnieMo

I was almost afraid to post...

we had our wedding dinner there in September as well...had heard all these wonderful reviews...and we hated it!

Now, I would highly suggest taking a look at the menus http://allearsnet.com/menu/menu_cg.htm and see if there are things you like on it...that was probably our first problem...we couldn't figure out what half the stuff was. Just a little too gourmet for our tastes. I'm sure that's more our problem than anything "bad" about the CG.

Don't put yourself down, it may not just be your taste, we felt the quality of food was just ok and we have dined at many VERY good restaurants.

Extremely good. We could only get ressies for 9:20, and although we rarely eat that late, we went ahead. The food was phenomenal, the service impeccable, gorgeous view. I had the caesar salad and the chili-rubbed free range chicken. It was wonderful. We caught the bus to Pleasure Island afterward and took in the Comedy Club Show. What a great evening.

I was going to try it this Saturday because rib eye was on the menu but now at allearsnet.com its no longer has it on the menu. What a bummer. Same thing happened to me at Le Cellier.

Not sure what to have now. I'm a steak lover. Any suggestions.

California Grill & Jiko are our 2 favorite places to eat at WDW. I had the pork tenderloin when we dined there in Sept. and it was fantastic as always. We always start with one of there flatbreads. We will be dining there again on our first night back in the world Dec.1

Have heard so many positive things about CG, can't wait to try it for 1st time in June!!! :goodvibes

From allearsnet: Menu Date: October 2005

Note: Since California Grill uses the freshest foods possible, the menu changes weekly.

The menu has probably changed again, but if they don't have steak, be adventurous, try something else, you might really enjoy it :)
