My daughter wants to eat her in Dec and looking over the menu I'm not sure what to order. I'm not a picky eater but I'm just not sure on some of the combinations. Any suggestions??
I am a fussy eater (for example, I don't like onions or mashed potatoes) and I have always enjoyed my meals at CG. Don't be shy about asking them to hold something, put a sauce on the side or switch a side dish. I particularly like the Filet and the flatbreads. The desserts are great there too.
I'm a picky eater myself and have dined there twice now. Both times DH and I split the Hearts of Romaine Salad and Triple Cheese Flatbread. Those are great. The Terriyaki Filet is excellent too. The one I had a couple weeks ago, literally melted in my mouth.
The OP stated she was NOT a picky eater. Looking at the entrees nothing seemed too out there. If you take out some of the fancy ingredients and terms most of the menu items are riff's on more "normal" items.
We went in December last year. Loved it!
Try to get your ressie for 5:30pm--- right when they open. We got a table right at the window with a perfect view of the fireworks which started about 6pm. What a perfect evening.
The Butterscotch Banana Buzz is awesome.
We also really liked the goat cheese ravioli, flatbreads, sushi and all the desserts.
'Ohana better than California Grill. I don't think so. Have eaten at both. Food quality at 'Ohana is poor at best. CG is wonderful. The ambience isn't great, but we go after the fireworks are over. It's better then.
I think one of the great things about CG is that it actually has a seasonal menu. So keep that in mind when you think about your winter visit. You are more likely to get typical winter vegetables etc. than asparagus I would think. I allways think it is a shame that none of the websites that have menus online keeps a historic record of menus. There are a few standards which seem to be allways available, but most dishes change regularly.
Not all of their menu items change. The pork and filet are staples. That filet is heavenly...the best one on WDW property in our opinion. The flatbreads and sushi are also lovely! Don't forget to order the valhrona (sp) chocolate cake for dessert...yum. That has also been around for years.
CG is my absolute favorite WD restaurant. It's now become my location of choice for Christmas Eve dinner. Wow! My favorite entree is the pork tenderloin. It's one of their signature dishes, so it always seems to be on the menu. The serving is huge, so you could easily share this dish. We always say we are going to do this, then all want something different. There's always so much food left over!!!
