I know its been asked and answered but now its my turn for the dillemma.

I will be at wdw during presidents week with my dd's 7 & 9 (dh has a business trip to NYC ha!). Our arrival day has us "tentatively" at CG around the time of wishes. I hadn't looked at the menu and despite numerous visits I wasnt' aware that this was one of those "iffy" restaurats with kids.

My girls are great at restaurants and have been dining out since they were little. That said, you just never know with kids and they could be stressed from a day of traveling. I also don't want to damper anyone elses dining experience just by being there if you know what I mean. Even a princess of a 7yo could joke or laugh to loud for some!

I would not mind skipping it if the majority think its really a restaurant thats not suited for kids. If its a 50/50 we could probably handle it esp if we get a table from which they can watch the fireworks.

Naturally if the flight goes bad and the kids are nuts I will cancel the PS but has anyone done this with kids? Love it, wished they hadn't, had kid next to them that "could" have been elsewhere?

California Grill is loud....the acoustics aren't great so it's not a quiet dining venue. And it's filled with kids....

I don't see any reason why you wouldn't bring your children. They have a kids' menu, the waitstaff is kid friendly and the atmosphere is bustling.

Go and enjoy.

This is my favorite restaurant but we have never taken my son. However, there is no reason why you could not bring the kids. I would go at sunset, its early enough for "family dinnners" and other families will be there. Also, the view of the castle with the sunset in the back is beautiful.

Take the kids, don't worry about grandma or some twenty something spoil your meal with the kids.:smooth:

Took our kids there the night before Thanksgiving. They are 2 and 5 and they did great!! We even stayed past bedtime to see the fireworks. My kids are used to restaurants, like yours, but are FAR from perfect. Take the kids - you'll be so glad you did!

Cool I think we will stick with it. I had read some reviews and then after looking over the menu assumed it was more upsale or adult oriented than your typical WDW restaurant.

Hopefully all will go well and we will watch wishes while enjoying a nice meal at the CG. This is our first stay in a while NOT at the comtemporary though....

Oh - If the girls are not up to "restaurant standards" any other suggestions for viewing Wishes? Can you still do this from the concourse or the beach at the Poly perhaps?

Of course...we may just end up at the boardwalk if the trip is that tough.....TIA

It is a fairly "upscale and adult oriented" place, but as long as your girls are "good at restaurants" :) you'll be fine. I am childfree by choice and frankly get REALLY irritated when people bring a screaming toddler to nice restaurants, but well-behaved 7 and 9 yo's aren't an issue IMO.

There has always been lots of kids anytime I was there, and I would say they were mostly all good at restaurant kids, too.

Lots of children most times we dine there and it is family friendly (whatever your family is) like almost every restaurant at WDW.

Now a fussy baby or toddler should obviously be removed from the dining room...but I think the same thing goes for caual dining spots. Simple courtesy. But I've never encountered that problem at CG.
