CG is on my bucket list for upcoming trip....always seemed hard to get a reservation during MK fireworks so you can eat and watch....but I thought I saw somewhere that if you eat there earlier, you can get a voucher of sorts to go up to the rooftop terrace and see the fireworks? Is this true? TIA!

It's also on Disney's website when you look at the details on California Grill.

Side note with CG ADRs...it's sort of a game trying to pick the right ADR time for fireworks. We've always had a decent wait just to be seated (30-40 min) and then once you're seated, it's a slower paced meal. I've had 7:30-7:50pm ADRs and still been on dessert by the time fireworks go off at 10pm, simply because of seating wait times and time it takes to be served/eat.

We have a 9:15 PM ADR on a night that fireworks are scheduled for 9PM...we should be allowed to go up and view from the balcony area while we are "waiting" for our table, yes?

We were fortunate to have a very accommodating server at Cali Grill for our 25th anniversary. We had a 7:00pm reservation, and she told us that she would space out our dinner courses accordingly so that we would be able to view fireworks from our table at 10:00. Everything was timed perfectly from appetizers to dessert. The champagne on the house topped off our celebration.

We had something similar happen for one of our anniversary meals at CG. It was a great meal, but it wasn't timed so seamlessly. We waited about 25 min after ADR time because they wanted us at a window table, which is fine. With the timing of the courses, we finished up some time between 9:40 and 9:45, but they insisted that we stay for the fireworks and brought us champagne. All in all, it was a nice evening.

Also, if you can't secure ADR, you can order from the entire menu in the lounge. It can fill up quickly, so you may need to go there early (check in at 5-5:30) and return for fireworks. You could just have drinks and a snack, then dinner somewhere else, and return for fireworks if you don't want to eat dinner so early.

Best would be to keep checking for ADR and keep the lounge option as a fall-back.

We usually try and get an ADR about an hour before fireworks. That way our entree is either done before fireworks or they bring it out after fireworks.
In general, you probably will not have a table where you can see the fireworks and will end up outside on the balcony. Thats not bad either.
If you can't get an ADR, you can sit in the lounge and still have the full menu.
If you eat early, just show your receipt and you can go back up later to watch the fireworks.
