Hi All,

We have ADR's for the California Grill for 8:00 on a night when MK closing time is 8:00. What do you think our chances of being seated in time for fireworks viewing are? Any tips to help our chances?

Thanks,

From what I understand, few people vacate their table that close to the fireworks so you likely won't be seated early. They might let you go to the observation deck, though, since you have a reservation.

Hopefully someone else will pipe in with their experiences.

Get there early, but people tend to linger over their dessert/coffee until the fireworks are over so your chances aren't very good.

You can go out on the balcony while you're waiting to be seated or just watch while standing.

I agree with the other posters that those who have "window" seats are not going to leave before the fireworks. You can go out on the observation deck which is what many diners do anyway . . . especially if they are not seated at a window that faces MK.

Show up early and see if they seat you in time. If not, enjoy a drink at the bar or linger in the lounge area or wonder out to the observation deck to enjoy the show!

Hi all

can you ask for a 'window' seat or is that not the done thing!!!

You can ask.

They try to satisfy the request...and will even delay your seating, if you like, to get you one. The question becomes how long of a delay are you willing to accept. An hour or more? Close to the fireworks times, that's what you're likely looking at.

Thanks for the info.

We have an adr booked for 01/01/2008 for 8pm with fireworks at 9pm so will wait and see. Sure we will enjoy anyway:cool1:

We have (and were encouraged by our server to do so) always gone out on the observation deck to watch the fireworks no matter what point we were at in our dinner. I like it so much better out there.

I agree with PP. Even if we have a window seat, we prefer the view from the observation decks and always go outside to watch the fireworks. Just get there early enough to have time to get a spot outside and then come back in and wait for your table. Almost everyone requests a window seat so it's not worth it to us to wait that much longer for one when we can go out on the deck and have a better view anyway.

First time there was before the lower level check-in and before the lounge was changed into more tables. Anyway, we sat an hour late for our ressie because of the fireworks (and I think our res was for after anyway....don't remember). We were able to move into the lounge area and watch. Maybe we could have gone outside. We weren't given that option.

Second time was early fireworks in winter so we were still seated. But it was after they started not allowing the general public up there for viewing. I think if you have a reservation, you should be allowed up there. Expect to sit at the bar for a while. You can always order an appetizer there. You might even appear 30 minutes early or so. Not that anyone would, but someone might be late for their ADR and that would give you a chance to slip in early (spreading pixie dust pixiedust: ). Hey, one can dream....

Good luck. Either way the fireworks there are great. Oh yeah, and the food is awesome!

Love this thread...DH and I have an ADR for 8pm in May (fireworks at 9)...after reading comments, I can't wait. We will plan to accept any table available and then view fireworks from the balcony.

Thanks!!

Chris

DH (El Nebuloso) might add we'll be there in late January, will the fireworks timing be different?

Thanks in advance, El Nebuloso's much Better Half ;)

Wishes will be shown at 6pm on the night I'm going so I'm going to get the earliest possible reservation when California Grill opens. I think it opens at 5.
