California Grill and Children?

Are children allowed/welcomed in the California Grill? We will be traveling with a 13 month old and 9 year old. I know that the resorts have the childcare that would take care of the 9 year old but not the 13 month old. The parents are not real comfortable with leaving there 1 year old with strangers any way so that is not really an option. They often eat in restaurants and are well behaved . Thank You.

No problem at the California Grill...it is a family restaurant.

We ate here when our one child was 12 months old and the other was three years old.

They also have a childrens menu

we ate there this past oct and there were lots of children. just a note it is a long meal so be prepared my ds 8 was so ready to leave when we were done!

I always find it nicer to dine earlier than later with my little kids - at least close to their normal dining time of 6-6:30pm. There are more folks with kids there at that time too so you feel more comfortable in the nicer places.

My daughter enjoyed the Calif Grill. She did get a bit antsy because of the length of the meal. So I or her Dad would take her out on the roof to let her stretch her legs and look around. She was 15 months old at the time.

I agree with Selket.

It is better to eat earlier and the earlier the better in correlation to your childs age.

We too found lots of families with very young children eating an early dinner. Once the sun goes down, families with small children are a very small minority in the dining room.

Why was it a long meal? Is there a long wait to get your food?

A lot depends on what night and what time you are going, but even WITH PS I've waited as long as an hour before getting seated. Other times we've gotten right in. So part of the time may be spent waiting to get upstairs and get seated . Meals tend to be a bit longer at CG --ours tend to last an hour and a half, give or take. Mostly because it's a crowded spot and if you have drinks, appetizers, etc the time adds up.
Problem with seating is that (especially at fireworks time) folks tend to linger at their table. Which prevents others from being seated on time.
Bottom line I guess is that the meal at CG will likely last a bit longer than most--.

the op seems to have summed it up for you. our meal lasted 2 plus hours we did hav soup to nuts though and we were there for the fireworks which stops everything. it is just one of those restaurants that lets you take your time eating probably because they are so crowded. it just seemed to be a long time in between each coarse. oh and we had no wait so when i say 2 hours that was just to eat.
