For our May trip, we have an ADR for CA Grill (my chosen birthday dinner locale :) ) for 8:50 p.m. Wishes that night is at 10 p.m.

Is this good timing for fireworks viewing?

Should we request a window seat when we check in? And do we mention it's a birthday?

Thanks!

You're timing is perfect for the fireworks! We always ask for a window table and are usually told it may be an additional 30 minutes, but it never has been that long. I love a table by the window. As for the birthday, we ate there for my birthday and they added a chocolate Happy Birthday banner to my dessert... :)

We are going to the CG for our anniversary in May :) We have an ADR for 8:00 for a 10:00 wishes, but I figure if we get done early we will just head on up to the top to watch wishes.

Just curious as to what day you are going?

We'll be there May 21st. How about you? Congrats on your anniversary! OH, I just noticed you're a CUBS fan...that makes us mortal enemies (life-long Braves fan here)

Yes, I got up at 7a.m. to call for reservations on Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving)!

I haven't been to CG in years, and I don't recall where the outside part of the restaurant is for watching Wishes. ??

We will be there on our anniversary, May 12th :)

I actually called on the evening of our 180 mark and had no trouble getting the ressie, I just didn't want to make it TOO late lol other wise I will have to eat dinner around 5 and do it again later haha, so I stuck with 8.

I've never been so I have no clue where the outside balcony is, I have only heard that you take an elevator if you show proof of your having dinner at the CG.

We are pretty excited. I hope you have a GREAT birthday!

We, (Me, DW, DS22, DD19, DS 15), will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary at the California Grill on the 19th at 7:40PM. Wishes at 10:00PM. Looking for window seat and will take our time and enjoy celebration. Our first time there, honeymooned at the Contemporary in 1982!

WOW! That's awesome ... congrats!! :thumbsup2 Very neat that you're returning for your anniversary :goodvibes

Remember EVERYONE asks for a Window seat and nothing is guaranteed so make sure you hope for the best but plan for the worst. I speak from experience. When I did my CG ADR we arrived at 7pm for 10pm fireworks and did not get a window seat. People sat hours upon hours after they were done eating waiting for the show, and Disney (out of courtesy) will not ask them to leave.

jacklynn: The observation deck is right outside the California Grill itself.
And vemnox is right. Even tho if you finish dinner early and know they will let you back in the restaurant to see Wishes, there are a # of those with window tables who sit for hours, nursing an iced tea or a cup of coffee just waiting for the show. At our last meal there, dinner took just a shade under 2 hours. There was a couple sitting at a window table when we got there. They had no food then--just drinks. They sat there the entire time we were eating.

Thanks, I'll bear that in mind. We'll go in knowing that at the very least, we'll have a great meal, then just step outside to watch the fireworks.

How long is Wishes?
