If we purchase this pass, should we split our stay and only spend half of the time in DL and spend the other half in San Diego because of the drive??? Or is it better to spend a week in DL at California's Grand Adventure and just do a day trip to San Diego???

Also is three days enough at DL where we've never been there before. How is Knott's Berry Farm and the San Diego Zoo????

Looking forward to finally making it to DL after 12 trips or so to WDW.

I think it is better to split up the stay and spend part of your vaction in the San Diego area. I thought the drive from Anaheim to San Diego was terrible! I have two sons who were 3 and 8 when we went to Disneyland. They loved Knott's Berry Farm. They hated the San Diego Zoo. They were totally bored and exhausted from all the walking after a couple of hours. It seems like a lot of the trails at the Zoo are uphill. I had a stroller for the youngest and thought I would die trying to push it around. My boys said they liked our local zoo better than the one in San Diego. I have to admit, after all the hype I heard about SDZ, I was a little disappointed. If you have time, you might also head to Carlsbad and visit Legoland. This was my boys' favorite park. It was a lot of fun and not very crowded. Whatever you decide to do, I hope you have a great trip!

We just returned from California and had purchased the City Pass. It was a very economical way to see all the parks. Disney can be done in 3 days if you plan ahead. Take advantage of Early Entry and Fastpasses. Try to get most of the rides done before noon and then go see some of the shows or go back to your hotel for a bit in the afternoon when the park is crowded. Or get as many fastpasses as you can in the morning and then use them in the afternoon. We did almost all the rides in Disneyland our first day, did California Adventure the 2nd day, and then did the rides we had missed or wanted to go on again and saw all the shows at Disney on our 3rd day. We took a break our first day and went to Goofy's Kitchen for a late brunch.
Knott's Berry Farm was fun. There are quite a few roller coasters, which my son really enjoyed. We were able to do most of the park by 5:30 and then went to Mrs. Knott's restaurant for the chicken dinner.
I would split your stay between Disney and San Diego. Traffic can be pretty heavy between Anaheim and San Diego - it took us about 2 hours to drive. Sea World is pretty much a full day, especially if you want to stay for the House of Douse Shamu show at 9:00 p.m. My kids really enjoy Sea World. It's probably their favorite park. Make sure you feed the dolphins. We went to the Wild Animal Park as we had been to the Zoo before. I do remember there being a lot of uphill walking at the Zoo.

The City Pass includes admission for a 3 Day Park Hopper Pass for Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, Sea World, and either San Diego Zoo or the Wild Animal Park. Cost is $185 ($175 at AAA and Costco also has a cheaper price I think). The tickets are good for 14 days after the first day you redeem one.
