So Disney is investing a ton o' money into California Adventure. This is cool, except just how much is CLOSED ... more importantly, how much will be closed at the end of Feb? Is it even worth checking out?

You should certainly go. No question about it. For certain only one ride will be closed. Mulholland Mania is being rethemed and won't reopen until spring.

Maliboomber is now gone for ever.

Other than the a lot of stores/dining closed but you can still eat and find the same merchandise eleswhere.

I think right now the construction walls are at a peak and one by one will dissapear, but I don't think they could get worse than thier current state.

You may be there when they are working on the entrance. There have been many conlifcting reports on how this will be done and when. But the park will use and alternative entrance exit if it needs to.

Still there are vast areas that will be untouched by construction.

The time between now and approx. June 2011 will be an interesting time to visit DCA. As skiingfast said, this is probably the time where the number of construction walls is at its peak.

While there are still awesome rides like ToT, Soarin, Screamin, and Toy Story, is it possible to postpone the trip until summer of 2011? I think that would be ideal because the Little Mermaid ride will be open, as well as Goofy's Sky School and the new Paradise Garden eating area. It's not so much about the things that will be "closed" but more about the amount of things that will be "about to open", if that makes any sense.

No.... This past Feb was the peak of construction walls!!! Ariels walls on one side, WOC walls on the other with only 6-8' between the 2. Then in Hollywood Pictures Backlot there was a wall running the entire length of the street for the trolley tracks. It was insane!

I'm afraid not. It's a spring break trip for us and then we'll be heading to WDW in 2012.

End of Feb = Spring Break?? That's early, no? Oh well, I mean there's still tons of stuff to do at DCA. Hopefully the construction walls won't disturb your experience too much. Honestly, I don't think they will.

However, as I'm typing this I am reminded of another warning that you should know about. Late February is not usually peak season, so you should expect at least 1 or 2 rides to be down for refurbishment during your trip (your original concern was about closures). This is one of the major tradeoffs of going during a low crowd season.

Well technically here it's the "first full week of March" usually. This year, since March 1st is the Monday, it means we leave on the previous friday ( to maximize our vacation ) so... end of Feb is when we'll be there. Actually, come to think of it, we'll be at DISNEY Feb 28-March 1st as we'll be in Hollywood the two days prior.

We'll hope for the best. We are getting park hoppers, so worst case, we go back to DL on the second day. So not much of a "worst" there ;)
